What are these ones about, could someone remind me?
They're powerful artifacts we've found that have significant curses or drawbacks.

The Cloak can turn you into a form of Undead, the Key traps you in a Northern barrow, and the Armor has an effect that I cannot recall. I think all of the research options are to discover how to remove the various bad juju so we can use the items. Interesting stuff, but hardly a priority.

The armor of a Graveknight is essentially his Phylactery.
In this case we'd have to un-curse the armor to permakill the knight and make it usable as a decent magic item.

Can't quite remember what it did mechanically besides anchoring the Graveknight, but I think it was anti-magic.

Pretty sure the key was an option to study runecrafting and the armor could be cleansed so that one of our minions could wear it

Edit: Faceless'd

[X] Fey Lore: Even though they detest the divine, the Fey are closer to the gods in nature than any mortal ever could and in their endless years, they must have acquired much lore on the matter beside. Seek out the Orphne, the Goblin Market and other Fey gathering grounds in your realm and friendly lands to see what can be bargained for. (Progress: 10, Cost: ???)
-[X] Rina (4d6 Progress), Alysande Redsail (2d6 Progress) Tyrosh Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)

Too many for progress 10 actions. You can remove the Tyrosh Scholarum branch without much consequences. If we only roll 2s we would have enough with 6d6s.

Interlude DCCCXXXVI: An Improbable Student

First Day of the Second Month 294 AC

Arching north to south of the Great Godswood between the boulevards that lead to the Circle of Battle and the Bazaar lay the Greenway, a street upon which one would find neither great nobles nor common laborers. The marble and glass facade of the apartments with balconies looking out over the godswood drew mostly clerks, bankers, and other respectable folk of middling wealth. They would no doubt have been surprised to know there was an Inquisitor living among them. They would no doubt be frightened to know she was a demon, begotten by a mortal but born in the depths of the Infinite Abyss.

Azema landed on the balcony with soft and careful tread. It would not do to let good habits wither away while she was home. Tonight had been a good flight, the stars had been bright and and the godling had been generous with the rain, even allowing a thunderbolt or two for the alu demon to enjoy dancing with. She tied the wet hair away from her face with a twist of a silver chain before walking inside through the glass doors that were her only visible extravagance compared to her neighbors. She could of course afford better lodgings than this, even apart from her pay from the state she had a rather good eye for finding gold in unlikely places and a fair hand at investment. She could have even afforded servants.

And I would be sleeping with one eye open all to get grapes on a platter and tea that's just warm enough, Azema thought as she tossed her cloak on a divan and headed off to immerse herself in a book. To her mind flying and reading were not so distant kin in any case, the latter soaring in mind rather than flesh and her wings did rather ache from the sky-dancing so books it would be for the remainder of the night, or so she thought.

"We have a situation at headwaters," Shara Rogare's voice rang in her mind. "Nothing dangerous, but it would be best for you to hurry..."

With one last look of longing at her reading chair Azema headed back out. Shara had used a sending stone so it should be worth it, hopefully. With a step into darkness that no longer smelled of withered flowers and rancid perfume, but of serpents and the deep jungle, she was down on the street already wearing a different face.

Admittedly it did not take her long to realize what the issue was, there was a pair of fire whales lighting up the sky above headwaters, the light of their flames turning night to crimson twilight. Directing her thoughts towards the larger and brighter of the pair she called out: "Hail and well met Baella. What brings you to this narrow corner of the Spheres?"

"I like to think of it as cozy myself,"
the traveler's gentle words echoed back, though much like her physical strength Azema had no doubt her thoughts could flow forth with crushing force. "We are here to bring in the payment for the last two month's harvesting and I thought I would swoosh in to visit."

Gained 104,369 IM

Azema did try not to giggle at the thought of Baella or any of her kin swooshing anywhere, but it really was too absurd a thought. Fortunately the fire whale took it in good humor as she usually did. "Swooshing in spirit dear, swooshing in spirit. I do have a bit of a request for you, if it's not too much trouble."

She sounded so understanding. I can say no and it would not cost me anything, the alu demon knew and paradoxically that made her a lot less likely to actually refuse. "What do you need?"

"Oh good... thank you."
Baella replied cheerfully. "I heard about the githzerai who could teach mind arts like I use. Well, I obviously won't er... fit in the monasteries, but I'm sure we can work something out."

"I can put you in contact with their envoys here in Sorcerer's Deep,"
Azema nodded. Seeing the faces of the willfully calm and collected monks when a fire whale asked for training would be a reward all on its own.

OOC: I thought I would take a moment to show off what more middle class accommodations look like in SD and of course Baella is a joy to write.

God i love baella. If DP ever does a spin of quest. I deeply wish it is a pod of psionic fire whales as they swim through the stars in the future empire.

No, Tanar'ri. We don't deal with the scum of Abaddon.

Also, I love Baella. She, Xor, and Zathir are a balm for the soul.
Baella is probably in the Top 5 cutest characters in the entire quest, yes.

How I rate it myself...

1: Xor
2: Zathir
3: Baella
4: Shireen
5: Rhaenys

I was tempted to place Rhaenys above Shireen, 'cause she's our niece rather than a more distant cousin, but Shireen is like at least two times more precocious than her still. Maybe she'll catch up.

For those who have not read Divided Loyalties, that quest has something interesting: The GM enforces a social turn which has no mechanical effects, but that adds quite a lot to the quest.

Would you guys be okay if, as an internal rule, we also vote on a purely social interaction we want to see each turn, besides what DP manages to write on his own? I say internal rule because I don't want it to be mandatory, but it would enrich the quest.

We could spend time with our sister-in-law and our niece over in Sunspear, which would allow us to also get a few scenes with Doran and Oberyn and hell why not the rest of our extended family...

Or we could visit Zherys and ohohoho at our political rivals.

Or visit the Sealord and unload another earth-shattering revelation on him over some alcohol.

Or visit Embra and walk away feeling much like the Sealord would if we did the above...

Edit:

Won't the next Sealord be so fucking confused when Viserys just randomly shows up with a bottle of booze and horrible secrets man was not meant to hear, with no explanation for the precedent (and presumably none left for his replacement by Ferrego because it would be funnier).

Her soul may have been damaged too much to simply will her into a new body... But with time and effort, she too can be mended back together. (Progress: 15, Cost: )
[X] Dreamscaping II: Having created a beacon in the dreamlands now you must consider how one might build a road that will endure the ever-shifting paths of that realm (25 Progress)

[X] The Crown of Flowers: Without a doubt, this is one of the most potent magical artifacts you ever witnessed. From it much can be learned, even if it is never put on by anyone.
-[X] Attempt to find the connection it holds to the Court of Stars – and further out knowledge of Artifacts along the way. (Progress: 18)
--[X] Lya (1st body) (4d6 Progress), Naria the Loreseeker (4d6 Progress)
    [X] Spell-Crafting

--[X] Lya (2nd body) (4d6 Progress), Stepstones Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] Stabilization of Sentient Undead: While the process to craft lesser undead has been greatly refined, those who still possess sentience are a different matter. Their state makes the process meant to stabilize a soulless husk impossible to apply, but further research might be able to find an alternative. (Progress 20/30, Cost 100,000 IM, needs at least one sentient undead as a test subject)
-[X] Wyla Drakelis (4d6 Progress), Naath Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] The Undeath's End: The secret of creation of the ancient and extremely potent anti-Undead poison you received from Faceless Men is lost to eons... Yet one of the greatest poison-makers the world knows is in your employ, and few other races have as much intimate knowledge of poisons as the Snake-kin, and the Drow, both of whom you have access to. Recreate the ancient mixture (Progress: 0/50, Cost: ??)
-[X] Elaheh Marita (4d6 Progress), Quburn (4d6 Progress),
[X] Tireless Steel, by Sorcery Moved: The art of golem-making is ancient indeed... but one has to wonder if it is possible to wring an armor in the same qualities, to create personal defense truly unsurpassable. (Requires the "Layering the Defenses"-Research Action)
-[X] Develop the basic chassis of the Imperial Powered Armor systems - and create the Warden Pattern armor. (Progress: 8/26, Cost: 140.000 IM)
--[X] Valeria the Wondersmith (4d6 Progress),
[X] The Stone of Memories, The Stone of Visions: The mysterious Serpentstone Projector you recovered from the deeper parts of Riz'Neth's city may not look like much... But you have learned quite well how much but a little show before the audience as large as cities could mean for a ruler.
-[X] Research the Serpentstone Projectors, emphasizing the function of recording visual and auditory signals - something that may well be priceless if a way is found to make more of such "recorders" cheaply, and also searching for a way to integrate them with the MirrorVision network - allowing to both (hopefully) make MirrorVision sets cheaper and easier to make, and to store transmissions shown - perhaps allowing for plays and speeches to be replayed in the future? (Progress: 40/45, Cost: 50.000 IM)
    --[X] Riz'Neth (4d6 Progress)
[X] The Mind's Games: The psychological effects of repeated and sustained enchantment on the mental state and brain of the average person (Progress: ??, Cost: ??).
-[X] Velen (4d6 Progress), Mantarys Scholarum Branch (+2d6 Progress)
[X] A Baleful Mirage: You have recently been forwarded a set of spell-scripts and samples by which the Efreeti have been made use of to manipulate the 'Grey Veil'.
-[X] While this may be a technological dead end, studying it will prevent its usage from being as effective in the hands of your enemy and may even be of some use to your allies (Progress: ??, Cost: ??).
