[X] Crake

What are the chances that Marwyn has visited the Golden Hearth before, back when it was still in the Stormlands? That could make for an amusing conversation.

@Goldfish, how many new alchemical facilities are we opening in the 3rd month?
also, how many (if any) ACSES offices we opened in the 2nd/plan opening in the 3rd month?
@Crake, how many (if any) Legion training centres did we open in the 2nd month, and plan on opening in the 3rd?

I feel like I might be falling too deep down the track-keeping hole, but saying "yah, we did it" to every little detail isn't really the answer either, in the matters of security, at least those important IC..?

Crap, thanks for the reminder, @egoo. We forgot to vote for the this month's Industrial Alchemy facilities. We need to retroactively take care of that today, y'all.

There were going to be three new facilities this month, but one of our new 5th level Hedge Mages for ganked while adventuring. I think we should shut down the Alchemist's Fire facility to retool it to produce Wildfire, start work on another Wildfire facility, and add another producing Explosive Packs.

We won't know how many facilities we can start in the coming months, however, until we get the Scholarium results and find out how many 5th level Hedge Mages or Alchemists we train.

EDIT: I'm not sure about how many ACSEC offices we're opening. I don't recall any being mentioned, but that doesn't mean much.

@Crake, before I start pre-assigning shit-
is putting everyone on a Quohor-interrupt, with us agreeing beforehand that we are burning the shit out of everything that needs burning there, getting the civilians the humanitarian aid, and leaving the city until we settle with the Westeros, okay?
All the while we have a battle-group led by Viserys doing a dedicated (not Free) action to clear out the unded of Sallosh/Sarnor for the 3rd month?

Or do we keep Quohor until the 4th month?
I recon, we want to invade Westeros by the 4th month's end..?

Without more info, no.

It might be that "burn shit and leave" can solve things, or at least delay them by a large amount, and then I will support that.

But it might also not be an adequate solution to whatever the problem is. For example if their relgion has enough institutional knowledge on Far-Realm-Summoning that we'd have to keep down the priesthood permanently.
In such a case we'd have to invest further action even after a big cleaning, because otherwise the problem would strike back in a month or two.

Merits investigation before jumping on anything. But if it's clear that someone is setting up an apocalypse (which should take most of a month to clarify to be honest given how little we know about the situation) then we can jump down their throat and light it all up without regard to political niceties.

By the by, @Goldfish, @Crake, do we want Watchman-creatures supplementing our regular forces, I.e. Legions?
No. They're niche creatures which serve the purpose of being an alarm system which can rapidly relocate and alert authorities, or a bodyguard which will detect most disguises and approaching enemies through its multiple senses.

They have a fringe benefit of being useful for investigations, so the Inquisition gets some too. But they're a strategic asset, not military surplus.

I disagree somewhat. Assigning a Vigilant Briar to each Legion is a trivial expense but could be very useful in day to day operations. They can be used to hedge out hidden and disguised enemies, help guard VIPs and prisoners, and mitigate the chance of a Legion camp being infiltrated.

I would also assign a Hunter as a bodyguard for each Legion General.

Might as well assign two Hunters per Legion, for each Colonel. General is generally a special rank given out to specific people by Viserys, whereas Colonels make up most of senior command and are guaranteed to be out in the field.

Ah, I see. I was assuming each Legion was lead by a general. Poor memory strikes again.

Two Hunters and a Vigilant Briar should be plenty for day to day Legion operations, I think. It's not like we couldn't assign more in special circumstances.

Multiple Briars for camp pickets, maybe.

Part MMMDLXXI: Whispers by Hearthfire
Whispers by Hearthfire

Twenty Eight Day of the First Month 294 AC

The four walk into the Golden Hearth not with the sort of wondering look so many first time visitors give at the fey flitting under the mage lights, the triton traders chatting with Scholarum mages or serpent-kin hunters carrying out silent conversations over meat cooked rather rarer than 'warm-bloods' prefer. Rather Marwyn and his three companions show the measured stride and wary glances of folk who want a quick way out. Not that you suspect Ashin, Marwyn himself and perhaps even Vargo and his scrolls of not having one that is only an incantation away, but they obviously believe in having as many options as possible.

"Do you think they know the full tale of how we got this?" Dany asks, struggling to swallow a giggle at the memory. She had decided to come along out of simple curiosity in her own words to see 'if every maester turned sorcerer is as creepy as Qyburn.' To tell the truth you doubt it. That is a rather high bar to clear.

"Hopefully they do and understand the implications," you reply, moving between the tables while nodding this way and that to familiar faces. Silver Serpent Captains, highly placed Legion officers and even Sarah, newly returned from Pentos for the day.

"That you might might uproot the Citadel and move it here to get Marwyn his vaults?" your sister japes, just loud enough to carry to the table where your guests are waiting. Sari is the only one who laughs, though you spy a twitch in the corner of the archmaester's lips.

"Good evening Archmaester, Wisdom, goodman...."

"If you call me a 'goodwoman' the cat over there might start laughing, it being an unchancy thing," Sari interrupts, motioning to what you are almost sure is a ordinary grey tomcat who enjoys the company of fey.

You shrug. "Then I would call you skilled, a guess from the company you keep and the tools you wield, but I think a fair one."

"Your Grace," the archmaester interjects, his voice low and gravely over the courtesy, as though he has not had much of an opportunity to make use of courtesies. "You have changed much since least I saw you, and in this world we find ourselves in for the better." Turning to Dany he adds. "You I have never met, Highness, though I have heard whispers on the winds of your daring. Was the prize worth the risk?"

Though you tense slightly at the oblique mention of Dany's service to Tiamat she only gives Marwyn a long searching look before answering simply. "Yes."

"Good, if you had failed in your wager the fates would have been ill for many," Ashin replies. "Not to speak of the one whose hide you wear."

How had they learned so much about you and yours, you wonder. Had the archmaester been paying attention to you all these years, or had he learned all this since you had approached them in Oldtown as Corlys Waters?

"Alas I cannot say I know as much of you in turn, but I would very much wish to learn," you interject smoothly. "To the advancement of all our goals and not least keeping the world sailing on a more or less even keel as we all live upon it." The last is said in jest, but you are certain that given his comments to 'Corlys' the archmaester can see behind the smile.

"We have enemies aplenty in common alright," Marwyn sighs. "Those that make themselves the enemies of all sane things, but we could all stand to know more about each other before sharing much more than drink over the table and secrets under it. I told your man what I wanted for a beginning, an exchange of lore and a writ of passage. The rest, eh... 'seeds still in the ground', as they say in Nefer."

What do you reply?

OOC: Good first impression overall, now you guys can get down to hammering together a deal with the full authority of Viserys behind it rather than having to play games as Corlys.

Gear, funding for their research, access to our lore, respectable land grants to those among them interested (not making them rulers, more just minor nobles than anything else with a decent manor or something). Fairly standard. But by the same token, while joining means getting access to our lore, it means we get all their lore as well.

--[X] Gear specially crafted for each of them
--[X] Access to our lore, with the understanding that we get their lore as well
--[X] Full funding for any important research, though their primary duties would be for state directed research
--[X] A Calligraphy Wyrm assistant for Archmaester Marwyn which we can bond to him as an Improved Familiar if he desires
--[X] Land grants to those interested (not making them rulers, just a plot of land where they can build a nice manor or something)
--[X] A signup bonus of 5,000 IM each //Trying to be generous here, but I didn't want to be overly generous. They're already getting most of their wealth in gear.
--[X] Our aid against any enemies they may have made, and our strongholds to shelter them whenever they need it
-[X] We are both well aware of our many and mighty mutual enemies. We are at our best when bound to a common cause, and our extensive resources being available to Archmaester Marwyn in pursuit of our defense certainly wouldn't hurt. Not to mention all the scholars in the Imperium, starting with Lya, who would love to debate him and compare notes.

Marwyn might like a Calligraphy Wyrm assistant, though it could be a bit too soon to offer that.
