[X] We are not going to get anywhere by being too secret, we should bring in anyone who will hear us out

The Imperium loses planets all the time, and losing one more out of millions isn't really worth responding to when there are more important systems to protect against so many threats.

Let's spread that Big Sis love around.

Took a long time for me to think over if we wanted to be secret then I reread the part about the flayer's and the taxmen taking away our bulwark against them, there are no space marines on this planet I believe its a calculated risk for surviving against them if the local government don't have super soldiers in their employ.

With the Publicani still in the orbit, and the other options leading to followers behaving in the ways we wouldn't want them to, I think that slow and steady is the best choice currently.

I'm awake.

Your choice here determines the size of your 'Recruitment Dice' to see how many cultists you bring in every turn. It also determines how secret and how generally capable your cultists are. A pass on a roll will always be good for you, but your Cult's overall capability determines what happens on a failure.

So its a tradeoff. Safety and consistency in exchange for being able to take less actions, or being able to take more actions but with a greater likelyhood of Fun Times happening.

You get some recruiting down automatically every turn, going aggressive just gives you more dice depending on how successful the roll was.

On the topic of the Omake though... No, I can't really threadmark that, Malal didn't outlive the Chaos Gods and wouldn't care if they died, his function is complete. I can't even really call is non-canon because it has no bearing whatsoever on the story.

Life finds a way I guess. After reading the last post, I'm getting big ara-ara vibes from the MC

Gonna be tricky not being able to consistently get the flayers, the government is one thing but when/if they get past our bare handful/nonexistent security for an entire planet that's gonna be moot

Hiding is for cowards and flounders, and we are neither!

We're not a god of secrets, we're a god of connections. We don't need to be dumb about it, but we should play to our strengths - especailly since we'll want all the power we can get to deal with the Reapers.

After thinking about it for a bit, and getting some clarifications from Alectai at discord, I'm also for changing to Moderate Cult Expansion approach. What got confirmed there was that the decision we make here regarding that expansion speed? It won't be something we will be able to change easily.

This is obviously pretty important. It means we won't be able to easily switch from slowly and covertly expanding our network of a mystery cult to suddenly going for maximum popularity among the masses. The reverse is also likely even more true, as going from maximum popularity to secretive cult meetings doesn't seem feasible once the cat is out of a bag. So it is probably wise to think the choice as at least semi-permanent, or even permanent.

And as I don't think the mystery cult approach fits the Verdant Maiden in the long run, I instead urge people to switch to the option that goes for the middle ground between the two extremes. It still basically guarantees that people won't start doing things we really don't want them to do, and is less likely to cause panic putton to be pressed immediately by the imperial authorities. Pretty much the golden middle road in this case.

I'll take you at your word, but if this is the case it'd be nice if Alectai shared info this important directly with the thread as a whole, for those of us who aren't on the discord (and in my case, I prefer not to use discord for quest threads at all).
