I want to Qi Ling to read this story and use it as inspiration to make her own music art. It fits her domain and personal journey so well.
Another thing to consider re: inviting Su Ling is that it's kinda slapping Wang Chao in the face (the social face, not his physical face). I mean, our last encounter was us asking him to help us organize a gathering, with us specifically asking him to go invite people while Ling Qi handled background paperwork with the Sect.
Showing up with someone we didn't tell him about by surprise is literally going back on our own actions and not trusting him to arrange an invitation for an individual of interest (the notable new Inner Sect member who got elevated outside of the normal way for outstanding merit) - as prickly as Wang Chao is he's basically guaranteed to take offense to that.

It's not really though. This is a good friend of ours who literally just got promoted to the inner sect and therefore someone he couldn't have known to invite. And also she doesn't know him and it just makes sense for someone who knows her to invite her. And we can always let him know ahead of time, it's not like the vote says we have to just spring this on him.
There are a lot of pros and cons on both sides but I don't think this one of them.

We are Su Lings friend, not her parent. Respecting her boundaries and wishes is part of that. She doesn't feel comfortable in such situations, she doesn't want to be in them, we shouldn't push to be in them unless she asks.
I am, however, interested in helping her with her social arts. Perhaps we can include in the Art Study Group we had going a short while ago? Something a little smaller, a little less stressful and high strung would seem a more comfortable starting point for Su Ling.

Thinking about it.... Dragging her to this party is not something she'd want. It's not something that would be particularly beneficial to us personally, either. The only reason to do it would be a "pushing it on her for her own good" thing, and I don't feel like that's a good reason here. Su Ling is totally capable of having a (for her) happy and fulfilling life where she hangs out and hermits it up in the mountains, cultivates, and occasionally comes down to help out the little people, support the sect in time of war, and/or hunt down monsters, and never really deals with noble issues at all. Even better, the sect will absolutely let her keep doing that as long as she likes. She doesn't need us to try to drag her out of that path.

The ostensible purpose of the gathering was to set up a social group for Wang Chao and Ling Qi, under the guise of a training group where Wang Chao gave tips to Zhengui and Ling Qi about working together. The whole politicking thing that Su Ling isn't ready for can be neatly avoided by keeping the beginning focused on training and letting the social dynamics grow organically from there. (And, Moonless Saboteur's Smile was basically made for such a situation.)
Though, however this shakes out, I want to introduce Su Ling and Shen Hu together. Their defensive focus rooted in their regard for their mortal charges seems like a strong point of commonality, and there's a good reason to introduce them in the Bloody Moon Dream and the cultivation site it holds. Even if Su Ling can't yet use the site, the cycle of vengeance of the Dream and the terrible situation for the mortals might usefully clash with her sense of justice and her own self-worth to produce an advanced insight, if she (along with Shen Hu?) makes a good impact on the outcome for the mortals in the Dream.

Also,a good hook for more opportunities to increase the Social Rank of Shen Hu and/or Su Ling. The Bloody Moon Dream was one, maybe we'll have find more like that and get that Su Ling Rank 4. Stay still and be cuddled Foxy Lady.
