[X] Welcome to the Imperium, Armond
-[X] Lord Armond Costayne is welcome to send any of his people who have the potential to learn magic to study at the Scholarium branch in Sorcerer's Deep. Their tuition and living expenses will be covered by the Scholarium.
--[X] Once he has gathered up the first batch of candidates, we will send people (Headmistress Teana, Velen, etc) to verify their potential to learn, then we will discretely transport them to Sorcerer's Deep.

-[X] In the meantime, we will assign a pair fully equipped 6th level Scholarium Sorcerers (a Combat Sorcerer and an Enchanter) along with an Inquisition squad, 2 Plant-Imbued Shadow Creature Cat, 2 Verdant Raven [Advanced Plant-Imbued Giant Raven and 20 Verdant Kingfisher to assist Lord Costayne in protecting his lands.
--[X] Additionally, we will gift Lord Costayne 10 Rings of Protection from Evil, 10 Healing Belts, 10 Earrings of Arcane Acuity, 10 Launchers, and 10 Valyrian Steel weapons to equip his own armsmen. Included with these items will be 200 vials of Alchemist's Fire, 100 doses of Sleep-Smoke, 50 Fungal Stun Vials, 30 Auran Masks, 200 doses of Healing Salve, 30 doses of Antiplague, and 30 doses of Antitoxin.

---[X] We will also leave a Whispering Brazier with him to facilitate communication between his lands and our own.

Sending in a few actual mages now would likely go over better.

Part MMMDXXV: With Subtle Gaze
With Subtle Gaze

Twenty First Day of the First Month 294 AC

While you may not be able to produce mages out of your cloak you can manage alchemical supplies, healing belts, amulets of warding and sight and weapons of Valyrian steel, the latter of which you present with all due formality meant for such a gift. "It may not be as uncommon as it once was my lord, but it is just as sharp," you proclaim, reversing the sword with the black rose hilt you had commissioned last month for him to grasp after the oaths have been sworn on his part and on yours.

"As to that I have no doubt Your Grace," the lord replies respectfully as he briefly admires the play of the lantern light on spell-steel. "Now as to those mages..."

A practical man and a persistent one, you note with approval. You end up assigning a pair of sorcerers and a healer alongside a few inconspicuous assistants. Lord Armond does balk briefly at the talking cat, but one introduction and demonstration of their skills later he is talking one of said felines through its terms of service as though it were a fresh-faced man-at-arms. The shadow cats are... at least pretending to listen.

Twenty Second Day of the First Month 294 AC

Alas, you do not think Lord Rikard Leygood would be as easy to sway to your side as the Lord of Three Towers had been. A few hours in his fief listening to gossip and divining that which remains unspoken are enough to confirm that he has indeed been sponsoring bandits in the Kingswood. In this Lord Leygood hopes of evening old scores with Houses that have wronged his in the past, particularly House Byrch, House Follard and House Longwaters, while no doubt also filling his coffers.

It could have been worse, you muse. Of the three houses two are currently aligned against you and only one is loyalist. On the other hand the man is sponsoring bandits, and you doubt he is keeping as close an eye as you are on the Lads to ensure their good behavior. On the third hand, which you don't have but it sometimes feels a king should have...

"They are actually killing squids," Danar nods towards the enormous shark head mounted above the bar of the tavern you ended your rounds in. If the sheer size of the thing, enough to swallow a man in one bite, had not been enough to hint at eldritch origins the fact that the skull still glows faintly with the residue of nameless psionic energies to mage-sight certainly does. That was a beast that had taken some killing and all things told you have reason to believe the innkeeper's 'tall tale' that the rest of it once had legs and it had died on land.

Good deeds aside, you still have to consider Lord Rikard, who also unlike Lord Costayne is currently hosting two fey lords in his keep according to local gossip. Getting to talk to him might take a touch more than the usual mercantile guise, at least without alerting the Court of Stars.

How do you approach Lord Rickard?

OOC: And on to the next lord. I'm intentionally staying away from votes on what lord to visit next because those never seemed very engaging.

OOC: And on to the next lord. I'm intentionally staying away from votes on what lord to visit next because those never seemed very engaging. Not yet edited.
Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

I changed the Mystic's level from 6th to 5th, like in my plan, since we don't have any at 6th level yet.

The Armory has been updated to take into account our three lost Wyverns, all of the expended munitions from the squadron's operations with the Djinn, and the gear we gave Lord Armond Costayne. Also accounted for the assignment of our Forge servitors on the Flesh Forge Mechanics page.

Getting the measure of this bandit group might be worth our time. If they can be pushed into actually becoming stalwart defenders of the peoples...

I think Leygood will probably be accompanied by his Fey guests when out hunting, so speaking to him without their knowledge could be problematic.

[X] Perform a quick Divination to determine whether or not we will be able to make contact with Rickard Leygood without his Fey guests learning of it before we are ready.
-[X] If the answer is favorable, we will attempt to meet with him while he is out hunting.
-[X] If the answer is not favorable, we will instead Scry his location and once he is alone, we will contact him using a Sending spell.
--[X] The message will be: "Good day, Lord Leygood, I represent Viserys Targaryen. Would you be willing to meet with me discretely, without alerting your Fey guests to my presence?"

[X] Goldfish

@Goldfish I feel like we should specifically meet Leygood after clearly having hunted a stag down, and maybe given it a nice bite through the neck pre-butchery. Actually re-doing the whole scene where Viserys casually uses magic to gain the skill to strip and prep an entire deer while holding a conversation would be deliciously ironic, seeing as how that is basically stealing Tywin's thunder...
