When Mag Mar joins in speaking of how difficult it had been at first to assign grazing so that the land would not be stripped bare by the mammoths before it was time to make the long journey south the concept of a common good firmly agreed upon and not argued upon safe in certain settings begins to take shape. "Stupid to burst in when I'm drying meat and argue over grazing ain't it? Maybe I ask someone else who's good at arguing and judging but not good at thumping heads to do talking." he nods firmly. "If we didn't all see walls maybe walls not get built at all, dead things sneak in at night..."

"You saw the walls, the new ones that you just built?" Dany asks, eyes going wide in understanding. "Like in dream, that is how you knew where to put them?"

"Only good sense," Grum Nar grouses. He hadn't taken well to having his thunder stolen by strange stories of the south, but he ahd not drifted away from the fire either.
A hint of ancestral memories, @DragonParadox? I seriously wonder what's going on in their dreams and their souls.

Theyre about to Awaken, transforming into true Frost Giants.

When magic receded from the world, the supernatural aspects of the Frost Giants could not express properly, so they regressed to a more primitive, less magically active form.

/end speculation

Makes me wish we had brought Soft Strider, too, in the chance that she might be able to feel the old power and provide some insight into it. The threat of Others interference was too high, though.

I'm not really sure it's anywhere near that simple. Whatever happened to them affected Viserys' ancestral memory. That doesn't sound like simple regression due to a lack of magic.

Hey, you know, I think the First Pact might have something to do with this ancestral memories BS. Not the one on the Isles of Faces which sealed the peace between the Children and the First Men, but the one that came before which bound in harmony the Children, the Giants and the Fey of the land, before Men came over the Arm of Dorne.

So I went back and reviewed my alchemist gear folder, and I have some more stuff to suggest for Denys and out alchemists in general. The first two are the ones from the other day; Formula Alembic and Alchemist's Aspergillum. The first is a both a research air and a teaching tool, since it makes it pretty straightforward for one alchemist to teach another how to make something without using much of the teacher's time. The AA is a flexible weapon that fits well with anyone whose going to carry around lots of alchemical nonsense. For a similar reason an Alchemists Atlatl is a good ranged choice. It doesn't extend the use any, but it does double the range of splash weapons.

A Vest of Stable Mutation would also be nice for anyone who uses mutations since it gets rid of the side effects.

For anyone who uses potions some Volatile Vaporizers are an excellent utility item because they give potions an AoE. You take a VV of equal or greater level to the potion in question and drop it in, then it produces a 10 ft zone that grants the potion's effect to every breathing creature in that range. Both items are consumed, but it makes Alchemists much better at filling support roles.

Finally, as a fun mad science item, the Hybridization Funnel. It's a fun little toy that mixes two alchemical splash weapons together so you can get both effects on one target at the same time. Because nothing says bullshit like a liquid ice/alchemist's fire mix that somehow freezes and burns you at the same time. :V
