@Crake, I agree with those calling for Dany to wrestle him, but for different reasons. While it would be funny for us OOC, IC for the giants it would hammer home that the realms to the south are vastly stronger than them.

We should do it at the start so that they're in a listening mood after.

No, I don't want to punish passing your Wisdom checks. If he had challenged Viserys directly, and then had the panache to proclaim that Viserys is strong but someone like say Dany only derives strength from being our family, I would let her at him.

But he backed down. That's behavior I want to encourage by using words first.

I was just joking. I don't want Dany or anyone else to wrestle a Giant. Settling a diplomatic encounter via 'might makes right' is a bad way to establish a working relationship with the folks.

The other problem is that DP has hinted that the Giants have a tragically low wisdom. I'm not sure how helpful logic exercises are going to be here.

I'm counting on the sheer weight of diplomacy to beat any maluses from tribal society/low wisdom tbqh.

I'm sure @DragonParadox is aware this is an opposed diplomacy check, not a civilization building one.

Dany casts Reached Chained Persistent Owl's Insight via Inspired Spell after activating her Bead of Karma, raising the Wisdom score of 20+ Giants by +10.

Giants: "Ah, civilization. Sounds nice. Let's go."

If the conversation gets tripped up because people are arguing whether or not something can actually happen, like a disease so infectious that simple contact can cause you to get sick, then I'm sure Dany will be waiting right there to cast some bullshit Mythic chained magic.

@DragonParadox

1. How many giants are there -- adults & young counted separately
2. How many mammoths are there?
3. What does True Sight reveal about the giants and their wards?

  1. 303 adults and 66 young, not much of a population, here is a reason 'the Last of the Giants' is a common song North of the Wall
  2. 621 mammoths
  3. I'll cover that in an update when he actually has time to take a good look, right now he is focused on arguing the virtues of law and civilization

Oh damn. Even if as a population that is tiny, that's a lot of Large creatures to haul south.

@Crake, maybe frame it as tales and not as "logical exercises" ?
IMO teaching through stories of the past is more likely to be a thing they're used to. IIRC it's common in cultures with oral histories, and IIRC ASOIaF giants seem to fit that mould.

I feel that this trick should be used on our Westeros lords when we call a great council (IIRC we plan on doing that dont we?) on how things are going to be different from now on. As for a vote:

-[X] Compose a series of increasingly more complex (upward from the most simplistic at its core) logical exercises (described as stories/tales)
@TalonofAnathrax At the end of the day they are supposed to start grasping the purpose and benefit to keying into "society" vis a vis the examples we give them, but yeah, if asked, "these are TOTALLY things that happened, according to a guy who knows a guy, or a friend of a friend". And are described as such.

It's not a "Great Council". It's more like when Viserys gets to deliver his mass-scale microphone drop to the people that tried to keep him from the throne willfully and blindly or as I like to call it, the Summer Summit.

That is more than I was expecting. The only practical way to transport that many Large-sized creatures is to get them south of the Wall them open some portals Gates while using the Imperial Demiplane as a transit hub.

A circle of teleportation from Castle Black to anywhere in the Imperium should similarly be fine. That doesn't have a limit on creature size.

We've got lots of options for mass transport when we're not hampered by the Builder's Anchor.

The thing I'm worried about is the possibility that even if we convince them to move, they wouldn't want to leave this place because it's a sacred site from way back when, and it'll eventually turn out that there's a semi-operational cloud castle lodged in a glacier somewhere that they'd be extremely loath to leave.
