Upon looking at the Inqusition forces, it becomes starkly clear that they are sorely lacking in phasing monsters and air support.
We can order them some when voting on Naath/Snek Port/Salladhor reinforcements, since we haven't really covered those at all apparently.

I'm fairly fucking tired of putting these together, but at this point, pretty much anyone can - the basic building blocks are all there, in one place, now.

The Inquisition is seeming more of an army than our regular army, though.
Is that even okay?

The Legion is basically a self defense force. They perform security and put down low level threats. (Keep in mind, a squad of Legionnaires is a fair matchup against a squad of low-level fiend soldiers. I don't mean lemures, either.)

The Inquisition being a small army unto itself is perfectly within the realm of expectations. That's just the thing, unlike Hell, we can't (yet) afford a personal legion of Pit Fiend-tier mooks to crush our enemies. At most, we can afford a small, segregated force of rapid responder middle-tier mooks.

That was more of a joke actually. We'll have to wait for improved undead becoming available anyway, since a lot of neat options are gated behind that.
Such as gold-plated snake-liches or animal mummy-lords.

As for the Inquisition being an army, not really. Their forces are small, though rather powerful, which matches their mission statement. They need thousands upon thousands of low-level, human mooks who gather information and a few high-power assets that can be called it when you want to annihilate something.

The real fun will begin when they get armed spy satellites.

The Dreamworld research should yield some results as well in terms of being able to attack enemy ghosts.

The gote having gone through, the overbloated forge-order will need on-screen coverage.
It is just that bullshit.

Also, @DragonParadox, don't forget about Viserys porting the entirety of Yi-Ti fleet to SD - lots of Turn's actions dont really work if he does that halfway into the month.

Imma slep now.

Interlude DCCLXXXVII: Counting Sheep and Keeping Dragons
Counting Sheep and Keeping Dragons

Eight Day of the First Month 294 AC

Of course he would remember the sheep, Nettles thought bidding farewell to the King and heading to where her lazy lizard was sunning in the courtyard. It was in Sheepstealer's name after all. The truth was the dragon loved sheep a good bit more than she did. You don't get it into your head to tame a dragon using your flock because you love shepherding past all bearing. Still. what he said about peace and quiet did appeal to her.

One thing that hadn't changed between her first brush with royalty and the second was that the highborn folk of all sorts who wanted to get close to the sort of power Sheepstealer had, the sort of power she had these days and just thought their bloody good breeding would just mean Nettles would be falling over herself at the thought of keeping their company, or opening her legs in the case of a few of the worst rockheads. More's the pity she couldn't handle the latter the way she did the stupider warriors of the Burned Men after the Dance. Aye, and the sort of place riders can do that is one where the bloody Dance happens. Ulf the White's kingdom that would be...

Nettles shook her head, letting the thought fly away in the as Sheepstealer threw himself into the air sensing her desire to fly far and fast. She had been thinking those sorts of thoughts more and more as she got used to young King Viserys' realm. It was still sort of funny to her that he had that name when he couldn't be less like his namesake if he tried, pity it was the kind of jest she couldn't share without revealing who she was.

Funny how she could miss people knowing about her past these days when she had cared so little for it in her youth. Maybe ma was right about the grass always being greener and all that... Nettles thought. By her count it would make it the third thing her mother had ever been right about.

Maybe being known for who she had been and what she had done was a little like the sheep, the dragonrider considered as she wheeled northward through the sky. You didn't miss them while they were all around you and then one day you're thinking about the smell of raw wool in the evening.

"Things were simpler then eh, Sheepstealer?" she asked her dragon, patting his warm scales a little. "Fuck, even the Dance was simpler." The Greens were just men, men who would see her slit up in battle or strung up as a traitor granted but that was just how things went when there were two crowns and two thrones. That was what she thought this new kingdom was about, build up power in the Stepstones then go for the Iron Throne. It was the sensible thing to do...

Bloody wind getting in her eyes. Good thing there was no one to see her up here.

But then she had seen that Thing riding the blizzard on wings of ice and the rider upon him that was no man, not even a fey for all she didn't altogether trust the spirit-kin she could sort of understand them. That Thing had just been wrong. She would have tried to burn it from the sky no matter how she came upon it and from the rage she felt going through Sheepstealer like fire he agreed wholeheartedly.

It almost felt wrong to ask for gold given, but Nettles had been curious how the King would take it. After all, one of the first thing she had been told when she had been brought before the court to swear fealty was not to ask for gold from the throne lest she seem like an untrustworthy sellsword. 'The queen could give her gifts for leal service', they had said, 'but that would be in her time and in a manner of her choosing.'

King Viserys had just handed her a pouch of marks sealed in wax and a made a suggestion about where she could find some peace and quiet. Then again he was wearing what looked like a treasury's worth of gold about his shoulders so maybe she shouldn't have been surprised.

"Let's see about a house and maybe a flock of sheep with someone else looking out for them," she said to her dragon as they began their descent. Somewhere reasonably far away from other folk so she could practice her magic a bit. Netles had seen some things in her dreams last night that she was itching to try.

How does Nettles' magic advance?

OOC: Couldn't really fit two interludes in one part and the Nettles' PoV was the one that came to mind first. Thenn perspective next.

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

Is this spell appropriate for Nettles? I asked about it a couple years ago and you said it's something we might be able to learn, IIRC. With Nettles being a more martial type of Dragonlord, one able to share spells with her Dragon, it seems like a good fit.

[X] Nettles level Up
-[X] Class: +1 Abjurant Champion
-[X] Skills (3 points): +1 Concentration, +1 Ride, +1 Spellcraft
-[X] New Spells:
--[X] 6th Level: Greater Resistant Armor

Wow... that is really strong. If I were running this quest at anything like normal challenge levels I would veto it, but I think we left normal D&D behind a few years ago IC so sure she can have it. It fits her thematically too. She really likes her dragon and would protect him above all else. Sheepstealer is freedom for her.

Should we put the resurrected Thenns and pilots under watch in case the Others have a way to hijack the resurrection like the above spell? Theres no RAI way I know of to hijack someone else's Resurrection spell, but from a Lore perspective I'd expect the Others to be the most likely to have one homebrewed for them. It fits their theme imo.

I really doubt that is an issue. The person performing the Resurrection gets a pretty clear sense of how the spell works. With Dany doing the casting, I'm not worried that any of them were potentially coopted.

@Goldfish, I'd prefer to give her Greater Dispel Magic. She already has a whole pile of defensive effects, but she lack that key magic-disabling spell. She's vulnerable to a whole bunch of "no save, just suck" magical effects right now.

She already has energy resistances, and while DR 10 is nice remember that she already has good AC and a 50% miss chance.

I want her to learn Greater Dispel Magic, too, but right now it's only good for a +12 bonus vs regular Dispel's +10. A +2 increase in her Dispel checks isn't worth her only 6th level spell, IMO.

I like how level 6 spells in starfinder are basically level 9 in dnd or Pathfinder, as it shows how magical understanding has changed in the far future of that universe.

That's not really how magic works in Starfinder. 6th level spells are the cap their because the magic system has been gutted, presumably because everyone forgot so much from The Gap, plus whatever metaphysical changes happened to the universe in the thousands of years of forgotten history.

6th level spells in Starfinder are generally no more powerful than 6th level D&D/Pathfinder spells. Someone able to cast 9th level spells in the Starfinder setting (not counting the way some casters can manage to cast a Wish or Miracle occasionally) would basically be Magical Jesus.

Greater Resistant Armor is a very powerful spell, though. It's a response to Starfinder weapon damage being stupidly high.

[X] Goldfish

@Goldfish, not sure where this would be voted for, but we should put Imperial Steel Claw Sheaths in for all the Valyrian Dragons once we unlock the metal.
