Is there any chance to recalibrate the sword to eat up some Mythic Power, instead of the actual greatest strenght of the user?
For example, have Waymar pay 2-3 MP per day to use it without loosing his lightning.
Particularly if he invests in it as his Legendary Weapon and thus builds the necessary connection.

Okay, thank the Others for overly ambitious Thenns whose bounty we can harvest. :p

In defense of Dovak, nothing ventured nothing gained. I really respect that mad scheme of his.
 
Two things now I've caught up on today's updates and discussion:
1. Legendary item grants abilities equal to the wielder's tier (max 3 per buy), so if Waymar got it right now he'd only get one power.
2. The void bane army spell, I really want to call it Lya's Army of the Dawn.

That's really excessive, IMO. He only gets so much Mythic power per day, and the sword isn't that good. After seeing its stats, I really don't think it's worth using a Mythic Path to make it his Legendary Weapon.

With Energy Conversion, he can still use his Lightning Lance.

Oops, you're right. Mistakenly read that he would get three abilities for it.

It's supposed to be the loss of his greatest strenght, only avoided because Mythic Power counts for a heavier weight. So taking most of it seems appropriate.

Besides, he (or Richard) will rarely use more than one or two points of power even in a big fight, because they only use if for fighting. Unlike Viserys and Lya who can use it to cast any spell they might need in a pinch, in addition to the direct combat-uses.

Something like that might be possible, but Lya would suggest just making a new artifact with that power and maybe some tweaks rather than reforging.
 
...Actually, can we hand the blade over to the Djinn researchers? @Crake?

They pointedly research ways to purify/unshackle the Winter-touched, so the blade's runes might just be the biggest push so far for them.
(They looked at the Heart of Ice as a start, Winterfey Amulets afterwards, Voidjade last month, got some help from researching Rina and apparently Brandon a bit).

Can we hand it over for about 2 months for now, then?
Lya isn't likely to have free time to research the blade until the 3rd month at the very least, many more projects kinda need her direct attention.

I want to keep it specifically because I do not want others to study Runelore without giving us direct compensation for the privilege. The blade is a Runecrafting project, not a Winter Taint one, even if the two intersect and are related. Purifying the blade will not be something the Djinn can do, not without essentially taking away what makes it valuable or even destroying it.

I suspect only the OG might be able to modify it, and it might require a special sacrifice to do so.

Seconding this. @egoo, Runecrafting is one of our biggest advantages when it comes to dealing with the powers of the Planes. It's not something I'm keen on handing over at a whim, even to allies.
 
Studying the enchantments on the blade could provide insight into producing a Voidbane version of the Magic Army spell.
