Gentleman Beholder

I'm pretty sure @Goldfish would have an aneurysm if we weren't under combat grade persistomancy every second of our life.
If they didn't want Buttercup to interject himself, they shouldn't have invited him.Talking now would be amazingly rude and out of place... But it fits the persona, and they do suspect that we're a King anyway.

Couldn't we simply counterspell?[X] Azel
@Azel, please specify that the Spellbane blocks Antimagic Field, Mage's Disjunction, Wall of Suppression, and Greater Dispel Magic. That's the three methods to block or suppress magic, along with the most likely version of Dispel to be used which could be successful.
Remember folks it's only cheating if we're caught. Even if years from now she was to tell this story it would just make the Fey laugh. The Fair Folk don't care at all about things like fair playing field. They only care about the fact that someone had the courage to pull one over on them.Wenyld couldn't help herself, she giggled the promptly scowled at sounding like a child. "You realize this is cheating right, the magic?"

You know me too well.I'm pretty sure @Goldfish would have an aneurysm if we weren't under combat grade persistomancy every second of our life.
Counterspelling makes it obvious there was active intervention, whereas Spellbane makes it seem as if we are simply unaffected by it.
"That is no simple boon you ask for my friend," Ser Dregaire interjected, his grave voice carrying far in the still air. "What price would you pay for it?"
"Why should I have to pay any price when I am not the one making use fo sorcery to cheat?" the knight asked coldly. "Let the onus fall on whichever one of us should lose and thereby prove their cause unjust." Turning to Wenyld with a smile that made her wish she could return this morning's slap he added. "Unless of course you would like to forfeit and return to more appropriate endeavors girl?"
I think he actually understands this to some extent, at least as far as "the fey will get their due" goes, but he's just too hubristic to care right now. He's a manly man who isn't gonna let a little girl humiliate him.
