Tides of Battle, Works of Peace

First Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

Astehedos had been quite content with your notion of teaching in the Scholarum, you suspect in part because it is a task that will keep him close to the collections of arcane and historical texts you have amassed for while he has the power to cross a thousand leagues and more in a single step he can only do so once each day and not when he wills as and (an?) Erinyes can. For her part Teana was glad to have another skilled teacher of an (a?) tradition the the Scholarum has not so far drawn from. Lotus Leshy are fair at what they do, but their perspective does not resonate with everyone. Not every student seeks serenity or balance in his art.

Turning your attentions to more material things you note with satisfaction that Astral Currents continues to grow as new markets open to it, you wonder if Bu Gai would object to a headwaiters in Yin or even other major trade ports of his realm. Something more for Valaena to negotiate...

Astral Currents grows by 14% (Regular Growth)

The progress of other trading companies ranges from complete in the case of the Great Northwestern Trading Company thanks to Menel's personal touch to still acquiring needed assets and setting up operations in the case of Great Northwestern Trading Company Speaking of Goldentooth's exploits closer to home Lorath is ripe for the plucking after the fall of the Prince of the Streets at least according to Menel, all that remains to be determined is the asking price. Apart from the need to protect the island city from the looming threat of the Deep Ones the Labyrinth at the city's heart is of some interest to scholars and sorcerers.

"We found that amulet of Boash in Braavos so perhaps the god himself might yet endure in some form," Lya muses glancing over your shoulder at the writs you are sealing and authorizing. "The eye might even prove a key..."

"You want to send Mercy?" you ask surprised. "She is a skilled mage and warmhearted but..."

"Only about as charming as me?" She giggles at your expression as you momentarily struggle to rephrase the rather blunt point.

"More than a healer than a diplomat," you settle on it finally.

"We might just need another healer out east," Dany notes from where she is perched silver-winged upon the windowsil (windowsill?). "She will know we are coming though not what weapons we bring."

"Do you think we should involve Pol Qo?" you ask thoughtfully. "He seemed to have a plan of hit own on how to deal with the Golden Company and it would serve us ill to work at cross purposes. On the other side of the scales..."

"It would harm Valaena's efforts in Yin to be seen working too closely with the rebel general," your sister finishes. "I think we should lay it all out, our reasons and outr (our?) means before the Asure Emepror (Emperor), after all he agreed to sare knowlege (share knowledge?) of Tiamat even with the rebel. I would say there is a good chace (chance?) he would underrstand (understand?) the need to work with him to end the threat as long we we do not try to hide it."

You nod seeing her point. "Everethying (Everything?) is in place?"

"Everything," she replies with a smile most fitting upon the face of a dragon even one so young your sister motions to the fruit of her own labors, a net of chains binding together glittering scales, adamantine and gold, true silver and singing steel and even time-twisted metal rare almost beyond finding even in the markets of the Oppaline (Opaline?) Vault. Five metals, five chains, five the heads of Tiamat the Many hued, her own adition (addition?) to the workings of gods. Most would be hesitant, uncertain to set their own craft i (should this be "in"?) this company. Your sister is eager. "Let's finish this."
@DragonParadox, this old update has a bunch of typoes. They are bolded.

Lya's time... you suddenly feel very guilty. She is your friend not your servant. By rights that wealth should be hers. You have no doubt that as [extra space] long as you give her magic to tinker with she will continue making objects to your specifications, the proceeds of which are to be invested in your projects and ambitions. It would be nothing less than taking advantage of her good nature.

[...]

As soon as both of you are seated comfortably in the sitting room you turn to her with your concerns: "As I was thinking of various ways to best profit from the ability to make magic items I realized to my shame that I have been taking your work for granted..." She opens her mouth to speak but you raise a hand asking for a chance to speak your part in full.[missing space]"This is a revolutionary change in the way business and even life in general can be conducted. For those lucky enough to be the forerunners of the wave of mages it is without a doubt the seed to great fortune. As it stands right now it would be my fortune and that of my House based in great proportion on your work."

"I don't know about that," she answers with a smile. "Having the charm to sell hay to a Dorthaki Khall (Khal?) has to figure in there somewhere." Then she grows serious: "I can't say I don't like the finer things in life, I do: a rare book a high quality Tyroshi black tea, a beautiful dress, not having to tidy up after myself..." The smile comes back like the sun under swift-moving clouds. "But I really do not know what I would do with a great fortune."

"Vee has even less of a an idea and she has a account in the Iron Bank form (from?) the proceeds of her healing," you counter. "Healing you help with not-so-incidentally,"

Daenerys Targaryen princess and rightful heir to the throne of Westeros, priestess of She of Many Colors and None was channeling the power of her dread goddess into making grog. She had been assured it is terrible grog after she'd gotten Waymar to taste it on a dare. She would have thought the Dark Queen would have balked at such a use of her blessings, but if anything she felt faintly amused satisfaction every time she cast the spell. Thinking back on the momentary flicker of surprise she had sensed when she first studied the scroll Relor had derived (???) to Visers (Viserys) the girl concluded she had added another spell, however petty to the dark goddess' hoard. Though the young priestess could not really think of a way so mundane a spell could be turned to Tiamat's dark will she had no doubt the goddess herself could. In a rather twisted way Daenerys welcomed the feeling of guilt.
[...]
A few minutes later an unfortunate seaman had regained the use of his senses though he lost control of his balder (bladder) in the process. Dany was kind enough to clean him up with a bit of petty magic.
A few more typoes, @DragonParadox

Part MMMCDI: A Tale of Twins
A Tale of Twins

Twenty First Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

"I think we would all do with standing on more wholesome ground before introducing ourselves." Turning first to the knight than the lady rising a touch unsteadily to her feet you add. "Prince Doran is no doubt waiting to to know what became of our search and Lord Fowler also."

"I trusted you once and was well rewarded for it, I would be a fool to deny that trust a second time," the knight replies carefully, though his attention strays to the young woman at his side, obviously wishing to say something but unwilling to do so in present company. Finally he settles on: "They have powerful sorcery, enough to carry one across leagues like the Wind Path."

"And you want us to see Prince Doran?" Jeyne Fowler's gaze falls first on you, then on Ser Richard returned to your side, his shield floating freely though more to guard you then him. "Well met, Your Grace, I had hoped we might meet under more pleasant circumstances, perhaps your coronation feast."

"No greeting for me?" Tyene pouts, a strange expression upon her currently luminous features. "Here I thought we became friends when we were young, Jeyne."

With a laugh that is as much relief and amusement Lady Fowler says. "Really Tyene, an angel? Sorcerers I could believe, but an angel requires rather more virtue than you possess." You doubt she notices the momentary darkening of Tyene's expression at the notion of angels without virtue, no one who did not know what to look for could. As much darkness as may have touched Jeyne Fowler she cannot know the whole of it.

Lord Dayne had watched the exchange with growing bemusement, though not as much wariness as you might have feared, opens his mouth to speak, then closes it. "Let's be off then."

By the time all seven gathered in a circle to leave the desecrated sept behind candles and bones had all been gathered neatly in Ser Richard's black silk bag. If only answers were as easily gathered.

***

"I... remember the darkness in my dreams," Lady Fowler says slowly. "It wore my face and pretended it was me, that it wanted the same things I did, and then that I wanted what it did. To rest, to forget, to be still and without worry. There is peace of a sort in emptiness, in forgetting yourself." She looks between the Prince of Dorne and the Lord of Starfall, the former with some trepidation, the latter with a mingling of melancholy and frustration. "I am with child, Ser Andrew's child, it... the thing that possessed me wanted it for something, not to kill, it was angry at being cornered into it, but something else. Because it will be a Dayne, by blood at least."

"In more than blood," Ser Andrew interjects forcefully. He had been subdued ever since you had introduced yourself formally. The words 'Your Grace' passing his lips easily enough, but he had not shared many of his own thoughts into the conspiracy or the Power behind it. "Have I not made it clear, my lady, that with Ilara's passing I am willing to wed you?"

"How generous of you," the words are cold and cutting, but the bitterness in them is not fresh. "Your wife died not half a year ago and you would wed a girl whom you bedded in a drunken tryst. No doubt half the kingdom will think I snared you by your precious honor, as though the other part of you were not enough. I will not risk my father's succession, nor my sister's happiness, only so you can feel content in having done your sainted duty."

"But you would stain your sister's reputation with a bastard not her own, would you?" the knight asks. "Pray do you expect all of us here, kings, princes and lords to keep the secret, just so you can remain your father's heir and your sister can continue with whatever fancy drives her?"

So that was how Jeyne planned to handle the child, change places with her twin who was not the heir and thus would be permuted more leniency for indiscretion and keeping silent as to the child's father. What 'fancy' you wonder would Jennelyn Fowler have that she would prefer the reputation of having birthed a bastard rather than becoming heir to House Fowley?

Tyene could obviously follow your question for a moment later you hear her voice in your thoughts. "I heard from Ari that Jennelyn exclusively prefers the company of women. She's had several lovers, but never lain with a man."

So being 'known' to have birthed a child would distract attention from the rumors you realize, deflecting suspicion when she does not wed. Your new marriage laws would change the calculus of that arrangement rather drastically, but something will have to be done about the child just the same, whether it is instating a new Lady Dayne in such a scandalously short time after the former one's passing or something else entirely.

What do you suggest?

OOC: Sorry for the wait guys, like I said above something came up mid-chapter. Not yet edited.
Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

So coldy (we don't know the others version of bloodravens name so i will be calling them this) wanted a Dayne under the control of the Others, that certainly is interesting, we will have to look into their history and that damn sword a bit more i think

we should also have bloodraven check why the void might want a Deyne under their controll in the greendreem when able. also we really need to make sure that kid will be fine when they get born

Okay, step one would be to tell the currently present Fowler about the change of laws to come.
That way her sister's happiness is less of a factor in this and the political parts can take main-stage.

Then the issue is relativly simple, we let Dayne do the "honorable" thing as he wants out of his own preferences, he tanks his faith-related reputation a bit.
At the same time our short adventure propablyhelped his acceptance of non-Seven magic along somewhat.
