Wonderful.

He announced exactly what the assassin wanted him to announce. Still, props to a very clever and apparently powerful assassin playing the idiot lord like a fiddle.

Not everyone can be skilled in intrigue, mechanically martial classes have fewer skill points than most because the people involved spend most of their time learning to fight, add a commitment to administering one's lands and there is not much left over to drop into secondary skills.

Knowing why he is the way he is doesn't exactly lessen the feeling of holding Dayne's hand as we clean up the mess he just made.

We'll probably have to prove a point to the crowd about how easy it is to fake an identity these days before the wrongful rumors against the Fowlers fester.

You send Varys lower to carry messages unheard. The message she carries back sends a chill down your spine in spite of the hot Dornish sun. "The markings on the shafts look fey, but twisted. Winter's work I think."
Ah. I see. This calls for a calm and measured response.

And then there's a plot-twist that it wasn't Others who did the assasinating.
Rather, it's a [name-a-faction] who got the winter-touched arrow to distract us from their real plans here!
[/paranoiac off]
:V

Mimicking someone else's appearance isn't exactly a rare ability, but I can't help but compare this to some of the abilities of the faceless men. What are the odds that one of the splinter faction could have gotten in over their head and taken by the others, or that the arrow is just exotic fey death magic instead of winter touched?

I mean

*looks at list of enemies

I think we can add one more.
The Court of Stars have been at odds with us for a while with their whole "Make the Reach into the Feywild 2.0 scheme", which is why we're going to use the Crown of Flowers to force them to swear fealty and put an end to that nonsense. Until then they're definitely potential foes at best. Basically how Relath and Volantis used to be.
The most competent enemies we have are the Deep Ones and Asmodeus.

The Fey are far too irrational to do this whole thing, unless there is a tale to tell
They can be fairly convoluted if given the right tools, to be fair.
Pretty useful arrow for research
Agreed. This is a very nice weapon. @DragonParadox, is Tyene able to make this poison?

I wonder if we could pay Yss to take control of the CoS with the crown. It's a pretty literal as symbolism goes, but still might work from the perspectives of fey narrative and god logic.

Plus, the CoS waking up tomorrow to find a god of fair deals is their new boss would be entertaining.:V

[] Dany explains that if they would go through the trouble of using such a powerful curse to ensure his death even against strong healing magic, they could have easily afforded a convincing glamour. Offer to accompany Lord Dayne to the Palace and lend her skills to an investigation.
-[] Meanwhile you are going to try and locate that assassin with all the resources available to you while Winter carries word ahead to Prince Doran.

Is there really anything we can actually do here, actually?

We also want to get in touch with the Fowlers and explain them that someone's trying to frame them for murder.

It might be possible, but for me at least it'd be unsatisfying not to personally subdue the court and bind them to our will.

[X] Dany explains that if they would go through the trouble of using such a powerful curse to ensure his death even against strong healing magic, they could have easily afforded a convincing glamour. Why would Lady Fowler risk assassinating Lord Dayne wearing her own face if she can acquire something this rare?
-[X] She offers to accompany Lord Dayne to the Palace and lend her skills to an investigation.

-[X] Viserys, in the guise of one of Prince Doran's mages, will Wild Arcana a Touch of History, circumventing casting time, upon the arrow to gain a lead in the investigation.
-[X] Tyene will warn the Fowlers of the plot along with Waymar.
