On Thread Etiquette:

I'm not going to weigh in on the logic of either side's arguments, but I will ask that everyone read over what they write and really consider if the words they used are polite and won't be inflammatory intentionally or not. You cant account for people's tolerances perfectly but at least try to say your piece without saying things that can be easily construed as overly dismissive of the other side of the argument, thank you.

Please endeavour to be cordial. :^)

I feel like I should let all of you know, at least for this part of the quest. Your votes do all synergize with each other, some more so than others.

Out of curiosity, was the last vote one that did synergize or one that didn't?
The synergies don't really come together till after this vote. Though certain combinations will and do change the situation you're in rn, the first post choices interacted with each other narratively. Any real gameplay synergies won't be apparent till after this vote.

Like having Angkra as a Master and being of direct descent from Thungni clearly will have a link compared to distant bond ya feel me? Anywho, I wont ever get into too much detail about it, and it may very well be limited to this vote, but consider the narrative. Im regretting holding that part back til now tbh.

[X] Apprentice: for your apprentice(s) to put away.
[X] Home: Kraka Drakk.

I can already picture it, a snow white golem twenty feet tall with teeth of Gromril that eats Daemons to become stronger and causes the temperature around it to drop to absolute zero. So all Tzeentchian Daemons cease moving, all Khornates find their hateful flames flicker away, all Nurglites find their plagues still born and all Slaaneshi feel nothing but the icy touch of death. We could build this and we shall.

But more seriously.

It is important to remember that this is not the end times. The dwarves are not stretched to breaking point nor do they have as many enemies. The only reason the northern holds did not last as long as their southern neighbours is a failure to make use of the resources they had. Which was the abundant magic which they did use but no more than their southern cousins who did much the same with less. Also despite being deep in what will be Chaos territory that was the only enemy they had to fight. Which means no undead, dark elves, trolls, skaven or Orks at all meaning we can specialise for fighting against Chaos. Further the coming of chaos will not be nearly as bad if we are making use of the naturally powerful magics of the area before it arrives. Remember this is a time of much greater innovation when it comes to Runecraft. If Caledor Dragontamer was able to separate chaos magic from the pure stuff then there is no reason we can't too, especially when you realise that dwarven runes are even more stable and pure than elvish magic.

Also having an apprentice will be great as it means that in the future another Runelord will share our values, teachings and defer to us on most matters. Plus it is a good narrative tool for going over some basic details that the character already knows without having to force it or have him just internally monologue to himself. I don't mind being tied down if it pays off later plus even if we choose not to take an apprentice right away, we would do so eventually anyway so we might as well do it quickly so that he can become more useful early into the quest.

This choice just feels more exciting than the other options as this is the frontier rather than the established heartland and I like the idea of taming it and then relaxing on a throne of Daemon skulls being served refreshing ale.

Santa needs to be in the north. And would he be Santa if he didn't have little helpers running around?

[ ]Deed: The Laborious Defense at the Peak Pass
You were part of an enterprising group of dwarfs who were setting up a large defensive rune array near the future Karak Kadrin. Your group specifically was tasked with examining and erecting defences around a large stone obelisk that Lord Grungni demanded to remain where you had found it. As you set about your assigned task of engraving various runes of protection around the growing curtain wall, the older smiths poked and prodded at the obelisk curiously, when suddenly the ghastly howl of demons was heard in the distance. A great horde of Slaaneshi hunters had broken the defensive perimeter, slaughtering the rangers and warriors that were meant to forewarn of an impending attack. To all of your horror, this happened right as many of the older runesmiths were well into the ritual taught to them by Lord Thungni, and they could not stop lest they and everyone in the camp were destroyed by the obelisk's violent explosion. With a grim determination about you, you taunted the demons heading towards your position, challenging them all to combat. Your bellowing voice and rage-inducing heckles drew a large enough horde to your position, relieving the defence around the obelisk itself. When the battle ended the survivors found you standing surrounded by hundreds of pulped bodies. Your armour dented, your hammer caked in gore, and your prospective masterwork, The Master Rune of Unyielding, etched on the banner blowing defiantly in the wind. Your work on the rune was enough to get the elder smiths to snort with approval in your general direction, and you found a few chances to get a peak and looksie at their work when they weren't looking *wink*
(Gain: The Master Rune of Unyielding: + Regeneration + Tireless + Steelskin, and progress to certain runes pertaining to magic and anti daemon runes.)

This honestly would have been a perfect combo with Kraka Drakk but we didn't pick it so I don't really see why we would go for it considering what we took works better with Karaz a Karak.

The good little Dawi of Kraka Drakk don't deserve toys?
The deed does not mean it happened in whatever location you're choosing from. Just that Snorri did it, whatever hold you pick is likely to get a small uptick in Mastercraft toys because it has become a sort of hobby for Snorri to do now as mentioned in the update, but the place where the deed occurred is lost to history/deep in the records of whichever dwarf hold I feel like it'd be.

And while some combos do synergize better than others, there isn't any combo that is outright worse than the others or could be considered a waste. Productivity Like No Other is a strong buff no matter where you go, just like others its all a matter of application.
