If you are a good crafter, people will not want to challenge us for it, because everyone needs something, and if you mistreat a crafter, usually other crafters will not trust you. And I still don't plan on being a good crafter, whanna be the best.

[X] Nokai is long gone, but you saw that she went for a very small dwelling that lies along the path to the courtyard. Speaking with a Waste Barbarian is nerve wracking to say the least, but she wasn't unfriendly. And if you manage to live with her, there will be dogs!
 
Having doggos around are nice and all, but juuuuust keep in mind of the potential ramifications that may come from being roommates with a Waste Barbarian if you guys are gonna go for it (consequences may not necessarily come from Nokai herself, rather from people around us)

We'll probably get into more fights and get a variety of snubs. In exchange we'll likely learn more about a tradition alien to ours and diversity will help us be the best crafter we can be. She is also unlikely to have many other allies and will thus be more likely to help us in a fight.

Besides, this is Xianxia, suffering brings power. In this case it also brings dogs. I see no flaws.

It also brings family drama.

Anyways, I like Nokai as well, and I know what benefits she gives so I wasn't exactly trying to dissuade people, more like warning people about potential consequences from the choices

How so, the goal was to cycle for as long as possible, as shown by when you can cycle no more you will be given leave to find your house. So wouldn't the earlier you leave mean that you didn't cycle as long and therefore had less talent.
 
Remember, the hair of some kind of animal was a key component to our first charm.

Having someone who can hunt beasts will help provide materials as well.

Also, I don't want to end up as a lackey to some rich kid :p

I am slightly concerned about the size of Nokai's place, especially considering all of her dogs.
Mostly voting for spire out of a combo of potential for multiple roommates and aesthetic.

The lack of space with Nokai is my foremost reason for not choosing to room with her, but I also think that people may be overstating the protection she may offer. For starters, she may not be particularly interested in the charms we offer her because of cultural reasons, so there is a chance that she has no reason to offer us protection. Secondly, her status as an outsider may mark her as a target for some and a close association with her may lead to more conflict than we would find if we didn't live with her.
 
For me a couple of problems with the spire, distance is pretty far so that could be annoying, not that much more room than with the dogs if there only enough for one other person, and we would have no idea who we are roommates with, just my thoughts

Personally I'm a cat person
But Nokai is good.
