I'd like to check in with the Shadow mage and his school. Not because it's important, but because it's interesting.

Sunken Cost Fallacy

By going forward with this, he will resume to suck up time and space in the future. Or he will be dropped out later, resulting in the same situation as if we drop him now, just with even more prior interactions.

I just want to get rid of this now, not have this exact same argument the next time.
Yes, by following through we'll invest screentime here, but personally I think it's worth it for the different docket of blessings we could potentially get out of the Storm God. Though I'll admit a big part of my original desire to pursue this was to turn the Stormlands away from the Seven if at all possible, so I'm more than a little biased here.

It'd be different if we were staring down potentially courting a brand new god, but given that we're already one foot in I'm reluctant to walk away altogether, sunken cost fallacy or no. If you're right and Stannis is determined to stick to the Seven then that's that, the Storm God's bargain will stand unfulfilled and we won't be able to follow through.

Well canon Stannis thinks the Gods, if they existed, must hate him, so now that he knows they're probably real, he likely just feels a little more justified in his apostasy.

Which was honestly the same impetus behind my vote, but fuck me, right?
And other people, like me, don't care about him and see this as a waste of time on the path to other, more interesting things.

But fine. Whatever. I'm not fighting you two over this of all things. It never worked in the first place, hence the quest grinding down to a slog of barely related bits and pieces, while the larger plot has been all but standing still for a year.

We just wrapped up brining Lorath into the Imperium, at least our direct involvement before turning it over to minions, and we'll very shortly be moving on to the conquest of Westeros.

I don't see the harm in vetting the Shadow mage who is running the city's only magic school, which is going to come under the purview of the Scholarium by Imperial law.

That's something Teana is better suited to handle is the issue. Delegating is a superpower.

This is rich, considering all the times I gave up arguing with you over one thing or another for a lost cause and just let you do as you liked.

We've got several viable voting options, y'all, including @Azel's to go deal with Meraxes before he changed to abstaining. There is no reason we can't do all three of them, though. Just need to determine what order we do them in.

  • [X] Seek out the Shadow Mage of which you have heard rumors.
-[X] Besides general curiosity of their nature and character, you wouldn't let someone run an entire branch of the Scholarum, which benefits from considerable support from the Crown, without ever having met them.
-[X] If they're of sufficient power and unique in ability you might even want to work together more closely.
[X] Have the talk with Stannis - the Storm God can do much for the realm, and him personally. So far he seemed a goal-minded man, so we believe he'll see the merit in converting to the just and practical God of First Men.
-[X] In case of success, also retrieve the Heart Tree from the Storm's End - putting an exact fleshforged copy, with permanenced (Diamond dust) Fire Resistance, on it.

What? Shall I now apologize for not caving to your whims and desires instead? I have done most of the turn planning and did a great deal of background work here for years and got a heaping pile of abuse and accusations of bias, unfairness and whatnot as thanks, despite trying my level best to cater to everyone. I'm officially fed up with this, especially from you.

I've got the same right to say my piece here as you do, and you can cut out the passive aggressive nonsense. Thank you very much.

Dude, literally everything you say to me comes across as passive aggressive nonsense. A lot of what I say gets ignored around here... and I still do the book keeping at the end of every month, because I enjoy what I get out of this place.

Just... let it go or leave me alone.

[X] Observe the Labyrinth Temple dedicated to the Blind God, oldest of all the city's structures

Lya likes the blind god of vegans. Let's have a look

Guys everyone has a right to say their piece, but it really does not help anything to dredge up past ills to see who was the most wronged. Can we please assume good will from out fellow posters? I'm not saying 'don't argue' or 'don't vote for what you like' just remember we are all here to have fun please.

The constant unwarranted dickishness I can do without, one way or another.

If you are automatically offended by everything I say, I would suggest the ignore function.

If you instead want to sling mud at me, then don't turn around and pretend to be the victim after I shoot back.

See here for an example of you actively trying to pick a fight:

I will, and that's fine. Have a nice life.

I can't deal with mediating this right now, I'm not even sure what the trouble that started is other than general narrative complexity that I can't simply wave away.

Writing the interlude, hopefully someone will be interested in reading it, if not I don't know I'll go write something else.

I don't really see it as your responsibility to resolve every interpersonal conflict. If it starts interfering with forum rules or becomes disruptive to discussion that's fine, but if it largely resolves itself there's not too much else you can do there.
