@DragonParadox, will Shara earn a levelup after this action?

For now, though didn't we plan on offering the sentient weapon a body to be reborn in?
It's something we discussed, but I think DP said it wouldn't go well. Can't recall for sure.

If it's possible and the blade's spirit doesn't mind, I don't either, but for now it would be perfect for Sharra.

I don't remember a ruling of it not going well, we've got all the tools to make it work. For now, though, I don't mind if Sharra gets it.

Mind if we have that as part of an overnight vote? We also need to vote on Sandor and Argo's level ups, too.

Sure that's fine.

It was less about not going well and more about the spirit not really wanting that, life as a human has very bitter memories associated with it.

Starting to writ on the dragon meetings.

Part MMMCCCLXXI: Uncommon Oaths
Uncommon Oaths

Sixteenth Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC

"Arise Liomond Lashare, once the Lord of Battles, a knight in my service," you proclaim solemnly to the dark haired man with blunt weather-worn features and sharp discerning eyes who had taken the knee before your throne as many others before him had. The hush that had fallen over the audience chamber was deeper than in most such instances, the air alive with dozens of whisper-spells, bound to ring and pendant that had become ever more common of late.

As the newly made knight meets your gaze you add: "Your path to this time and place has been dark indeed, but in my service you will find tasks worthy of your skills of old." No doubt that will spur quite a few questions, but you do not have the time to recount the whole tale now for the curiosity of the court. Xor would be more than happy to give a full account tonight, you know.

Speaking of Xor and the others, their mission had been only half successful. One of the young dragons, a male who had been dwelling in a cave on the borderlands of Valyria, had manged to kill himself activating ritual protections against your companions. Tiamat keep his idiot soul.

The other dragon Yss had found had proven more cautious and canny, willing to swear oaths to you so long as 'they were not too onerous'. Thankfully though he had not been allied with Jagged Knife's band of horrors, Zerylaz had neither a predilection for hunting and eating the local smallfolk, a desire to rob and pillage at will nor any other habits that would render swearing an oath of fealty to you impossible. That was not to say there was no complication in the swearing of oaths. hH would not be a dragon, much less one of crimson coat, if his presence did not give someone a headache.

"You want to court Ysandrix?" You keep the suspicion, though not the surprise, out of your voice as you address the young dragon in the privacy of Malarys' solar as High Justice, an opulent enough setting to appeal to his pride without the trouble of witnesses outside your Companions should he prove stubborn.

"Not now obviously," the dragon sniffed, sparks puffing from its nostrils. "We are both still too young, but when we are powerful enough to pass on the gift of life and magic, I desire assurances that I can fly a mating dance with her."

"That you may attempt a mating dance," Dany corrects none-too-gently. "It takes two to make that decision."

To his credit Zerylaz does not scoff at your sister's interference. He knows her too well by reputation you suspect, better perhaps than he even knows you. "Yes, yes of course, I merely wish to assure myself that I attempt to continue the noble line of..." he pauses, undoubtedly to swallow Tiamat's name. "Our blood."

"You would forswear the Horde Taker?" you ask, your tone only a touch harsher, but enough to make it clear to a dragon's hearing that only one answer is acceptable if he wishes to continue living.

"She has failed," the young wyrm hisses pridefully. "I will forswear her but never my blood, my lineage."

What do you reply?

[] Assure Zerylaz that his romantic and familial engagements are none if your concern

[] Explain that he must prove himself worthy of the responsibility of caring for young dragons first, but that he will have plenty of time to do so before he is old enough for his first Sky Dance

[] Write in

OOC: The rolls for the dragon who blew himself up had me practically chuckling at the screen. First it was 'oh that's clever, this might be worth an interlude', then the I do the confrontation itself and its a cascade of filigrees with a roll of 3 on wild magic interactions to top it all off.

Suicide...how utterly pedestrian. How boring.

...I mean...I don't really care about that tbh. Go for it I say. Isn't Yssandrix a Blue Dragon though?

Blue and Red dragons can mate and even produce viable offspring at times. Those are the Purple Dragons, who have laser breath and live underground in damp caves. Although DP might do something else with their geneology.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

@DragonParadox, did we get the corpse? No point in leaving it when we can use it.

Also, will the next part of the dragon hunt be tracking down Lizzirth?

They're both around the same age, so I can see it happening. Granted, there are also Mind Dragons and eventually Myrkdreki Dragons, so the hatchlings won't lack for options of future mates.

All dragons are as much children of Tiamat the Many-Hued as they are of their own parents, the chaos of her blood runs through them. When two cromatics of differing breeds made the eggs can come out as any sort of cromatic, though weighted to the parents colors.

Well, that's a sad waste of a Mindblank we would have torn away from Tiamat.

It is nice to see this dragon at least isn't a (complete) idiot.

@DragonParadox, forswearing Tiamat in front of our Gods automatically prevents her from recovering the energy spent on that Mindblank of his, yes?
Otherwise, we might have to cut his soul up a bit.

Now that's interesting. Is there a roll for each and every egg laid, or is the roll by batch?

Also @DragonParadox, what was the name of the suicidal dragon?

So they could theoretically pop out a White, Black or Green dragon too? Now that's an interesting possible source of new Dragon-blood.

Oh my god, their like Rabbits! They fuck all the time, and they're kids can come out totally genetically distinct from them!

Yes, forswearing is enough

  1. The roll is by egg
  2. Laesys

[X] Point out your concerns that the two of them care for or at least take an interest in the well-being of the hatchlings which might spring from such a joining, and measures be taken to assuage any worries of dereliction of that duty. The reasoning is even pragmatic from your perspective--Tiamat gets the chance to tempt any Chromatic even before they have hatched, and while you have the tools, both of mind and dream, to help advise and persuade them from this path, it seems more likely to cause her lasting harm if the ones who sire future dragons spurn her at every turn in our collective life cycle.
-[X] The greatest proof that they have forsworn Tiamat in more than mere word is in deed, and you can think of no greater deed than that which would convince you, not even shared battle as with Amrelath and certainly not destruction which you had to turn upon the Mother of Wyrms' own works.

Tiamat: *Raises her children, hides them with a Mindblank, hopes they procreate in time and restore the glorious Chromatic race*
Viserys: *loots the Dragons, and their procreational cycle*
Tiamat: "FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-!"

... you know i just remembered about that valyrian dragon back in history who got his curse broken when they were with their rider in sothoryos and didn't actually kill them. did we ever find out what happened with that dragon?

So, regardless of the religious argument, your main point is "care for your fucking children if you want some"?
I can support that.
