@DragonParadox, if we make a sacrifice to the Ferryman (damn, that's such a better name than the Merling King...), can he remove the souls and prevent them from being taken by Tiamat?
Yes.

I like that possess object trick, though we would also want to have sub-contingencies to keep the item safe after we transfer into it, or else it could just get yoinked by anyone. Maybe a similar effect as that Archmage Staff had on it, so it teleports right into Lya's hand as soon as it happens? So in the interests of not getting trapped in a soul gem, I've been looking at things that'd help protect us next time we face such an effect. Some of them might be worth items, but others will probably only be worth using as buffs when we do something that might result in attacks on Viserys' soul.
Soul Vault Is pretty direct, but a Yss item might be a better bet.
Protection from Outsiders set to chromatics would provide another layer of protection. It depends on if the bonus applies to the roll allowed by soul vault or not. Either way, she still has traditional means to attack us, and it'd provide another reroll and layer of protection.
Visualization of the Mind this one is just for the untyped +5 to checks on a single mental attribute, but it also allows an immediate action burn for a reroll. There is also a Visualization of the Body which is neat, but it useful for this task.
Planeslayer's call gives a CL boost to overcoming spell resistance against a target subtype, which isn't good for defensive stuff, but might be useful.
Possess Object is a little iffy as a defense, but it's worth considering as a contingency. If we kept an item of that soul capturing metal (can't find its name, but we traded VS for it in the OV) we could set up a contingency to jump into the vessel if we fail our second to last saving throw. The connection is to a body that is dead, so she'd need a new vector to grab us. We'd need to get Viserys back into his body, but that's easier than getting his soul back from the Abyss.
I'd also like Soul Ward and Body Ward since it seems viable that she could try opening with attribute drain next time before slapping us with trap the soul.
Soul Vault is a simple and easily applied effect which we can make Permanent on everyone. Not Permanent using XP, which is truly permanent, but Permanent using diamond dust, which can still be Dispelled. Viserys, properly boosted by Lya, can cast it at 26th level (30th to resist Dispelling). So in the interests of not getting trapped in a soul gem, I've been looking at things that'd help protect us next time we face such an effect. How come we didn't get all three of the dragons?OOC: As I loked up to see who you guys captured and who slipped the noose I realized there were two escaped priests of the Sixth Circle, sorry for the confusion. Yss found them, Blackheart and two of the young dragons. Not yet edited.
Dont worry, well scry on the last one via the WoE.
well they we're in the shadow fortress not on the battlefield with the avatar@DragonParadox So how do you stay faithful after watching your God fucking die?
Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.Upon Ruin's Crumbling Edges
Fifteenth Day of the Twelfth Month 293 AC
After some thought, you decide to leave the armor for the Merling King to sing its tormented voice into peaceful slumber, but the ring is worth far less in your eyes, powerful yes, precious even, but nothing you cannot buy in the markets of the Opaline Vault or Armun Kelisk at need. Lya's time is too precious to squander on undoing the curse for pride's sake. The ring you will keep for now but only to offer up in sacrifice in turn, just like the one who bore it.
After one final look at Aegon, you turn back to Yss. "I need answers, particularly with regard to where his associates have fled, though if the price is fair enough for the deed I would also know what other secrets are locked behind his eyes. By what path did he reach Valyria? How did he come to ally with the Fallen Kami and their ilk?"
Dany opens her mouth to speak, and for a moment you wonder if she will ask for some clemency for Aegon Blackfyre in spite of all the reasons you need to see him dead beyond death, but instead she merely says, "A book would probably serve best, Most Ancient." You know the words she might have spoken, the fleeting kinship for the one who embodied the damnation she had long feared, just as you know your mother would have asked for Rhaegar to walk again among the living, or even Nettles for Prince Daemon. Some gifts and kindnesses are not to be, even with all the power you have gathered.
The death of the last Blackfyre heir, of Timat's plot and Varys' mad dream, is swift and without fanfare, the vessel's jaws stretching open impossibly wide even for its great bulk, and then he is no more, as though you had blinked and missed the moment, though your gaze had never wavered.
Shadows flow and curl from the corners of the temple into a sphere about as wide across as man's head, and in that sphere you see fire and light in the shape of men and dragons. "Are those fire elementals?" Dany asks, obviously glad to have something besides the execution to occupy her mind.
"No, I don't think so..." you say slowly, remembering that which you have never learned before. "That is how snakes see I think, a world painted in heat as much as light."
Alas, Yss' gift is not perfect. You do not see the shadow dragon who attacked your mother nor the nightmare dragon who had fled. You do see the five missing drake riders, returned to the ruins of the camp and slain by a contingent from Trader Town. At least Lady Xue is competent in the weaving of magic, however little you might think of her character.
The two priests who had fled the Shadow Fortress and of whom you had been the most concerned you see clearly, walking in a realm of sharp edged shadows and many layered screams. The domain of the Bloodstone Emperor, though not too deep within it, you realize.
Where you had hoped to see Illyrio, there is instead only Blackheart conversing across a table laden with food you would rather not know the origin of. As the shadows shift and a different flame reveals itself briefly, you see a pair of young crimson dragons settle for the night, one in a cave the other in a ruined bell-tower.
"One of them is in Westeros?" Dany asks, startled, echoing your thoughts. "That looks like the Stromlands... is that...?" Whatever you had expected to see through Yss' eye it had not been darkling fey bowing to the young dragon carrying messages from 'The Great and Bloody Jagged Knife.'
"Well looks like we are going to make Azema's task for the month a touch easier," you note in amusement, recognizing the name of the Red Cap your agents were hunting in the Rainwood. Beneath the jest there is relief, an unexpected dragon, even a young one, could have proved very dangerous indeed.
Still, the priests must be the ones you seek out first, though you must be careful to tread lightly upon the edges of the Bloodstne Emperor's grim fief.
Who do you take with you to deal with the two Tiamat priests and Blackheart?

Wont take much of it's charge, I recon.
@DragonParadox, is this the point for us to"ask" the book with the appropriate spells about contingencies/boltholes/allies Golden Company and Tiamat in general have?
