Zherys, Saenena, and Relath all have Wings of Cover and can protect multiple people, so they should be able to prevent the Shadow Dragons' breath attacks from being too devastating.

Breath weapons are lines or cones of [Insert magical bullshit here], they are not single target attacks so Wings of Cover treats them like a fireball, it grants a bonus to the reflex save, but does not negate them.

I hope they'll get some use out of the Brilliant Barrier charms, then. Immediate Action Walls of Force should each be good enough to block at least one breath attack.

And if all else fails...

[X] Goldfish

Well time to ruin Aegons, Jon Connington and Asharas day by surprise attack and death fire. Can only imagine their reactions to all this death of the Golden Company.

For the record, that group has 5x Black Champions, who are CR 15 meatshields of ludicrous durability and their offense isn't exactly lacking either.

Plop down a Haste on them in addition to that Magic Army and that "chaff" can easily teach some uppity shadow lizards a few lessons.

Tiamat has poor intelligence.

In both senses of the word.

Hence her underestimating our strike force.

I just dislike the dismissal of my poor babies as "chaff".

They are one of the few things that would still be standing on the battlefield after a Shadow of the Doom. Give them equipment worth 2,000 IM and they could even take the Maximised version.

Granted, they would be within an inch of their unlives, but that's a lot better then pretty much everything else in the blast zone.

Holy shit, they can tank a Shadow of the Doom? o_O I want more of these things.

Look at it from her perspective. She's a necromancer in the "classic" style. Her armies are poorly put together messes, most of whom are only armed with whatever they died with or what few scraps of weapons and armor she deigns to give them. Her big spells are reserved for killing her foes and adding to her hoard.

To her anything undead is practically a pikmin. Unfortunately for her your little abominations are Pec-min shot with testosterone and hopped up on redbull while wearing the magical equivalent of a Spartan-2 Mjolnir suit.

I thought undead generally can't be petrified?
It's arguable that SotD bypasses that, since the spell doesn't just affect creatures, but also transmutes the ground beneath them into volcanic glass or ash. Undead only benefit from immunity to Fortitude save effects which don't also affect objects.

I can see it going both ways.

  • [X] Plan "Fairwell, Golden Company."
    -[X] Opening Moves:
--[X] Team Viserys: Viserys casts True Casting, then hits Aegon's tent and the surrounding area with a Maximized Mythic Searing Agonizing Shadow of the Doom spell while using all three charges from his ring to grant an additional +4d6 Fire damage spell (270 Searing Fire damage and 6 STR, DEX, & CON damage to those who succeed on a DC 32 Fortitude saving throw). Lya targets the Temple of Tiamat with an Earthquake spell via Wild Arcana.
--[X] Team Malarys: Tyene Sunbursts the officer tents while Rina targets the mage tents and surrounding area with her Fell Boreal Wind spell. They both activate their Beads of Karma prior to casting, to boost their caster levels by +4 for the next 10 minutes.
--[X] Each Erinyes Kill Squad will choose a Golden Company Drake to target, directing the full might of their Undead forces against it while they harass them from range. The Wyverns will begin targeting the other Drake with their Teleporting Beetle Bombs.
--[X] Team Vee: Vee will begin Summoning and the Minotaurs will eat a Fairy Cap to grow to Huge-size.
--[X] Team Havoc: They will move on the war elephants and their mages. The Undead Brutes will lead the charge.
--[X] Team Shadow begins their planned assassinations.
--[X] Team Yss and the Moonchaser will remain in reserve for now.

I'm pretty sure the consensus was that it didn't work on undead, hence needing Amber Sarcophagus to capture them.

Would you guys mind if I do another interlude (preparations in Yi Ti)? There is a lot of rolling involved in the main part and I don't trust myself to cover everything properly at this hour

That's fine with me. I'm always up for more Yi-Ti interludes, of course, and the group we put together to hunt down the spy ring should provide an interesting read.
