Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

No @Wyrd even tailored chain requires padding, unless you're a masochist, and thats before we get into waffle bruises
Ah, but does a forcefield that only (mostly) looks like mail require padding? Truly a question for the ages.

And in other news, I think it's time to close this vote and move on to the next one.

Vote Laura PART 4

And now the spell list. You need to pick FOUR.

[ ] Frost Edge, an ice-elemental weapon-enhancing spell
-[ ] Avalanche, ice-based short to mid-range Buster (-2 XP)
[ ] a fire-elemental weapon enhancement for enemies who are invulnerable to cold. Will rapidly drain Laura's mana reserves.
[ ] Blitz Action
[ ] Aerial Combat
-[ ] Spatial Translocation (-2 XP)
[ ] Area Search
[ ] Guardian Beast
[ ] Mirage, create short-lived illusionary "alter-images" that distract opponents
[ ] Telekinesis
[ ] Any of the mastery modifications from the Modification Tier list
[ ] Any other spell(s) from the Basic Tier list

Once again, to pick Spatial Translocation you MUST know either Blitz Action or Aerial combat, and to pick Avalanche you MUST know Frost Edge.

Alrighty then let's see...

[X] Frost Edge, an ice-elemental weapon-enhancing spell
[X] Blitz Action
[X] Aerial Combat
[X] Guardian Beast

Frost Edge to give her attacks a bit more bite, plus taking advantage of her MCA. Blitz Action helps her if she needs a bit more speed, while flight's definitely going to be useful considering everyone else will be able to fly. Finally, Guardian Beast so she can get someone she can rely, and for the possibility of getting one of the classes we don't have yet. A Beast of the Mask would definitely be useful, considering we don't have a while lot of stealth stuff at the moment.

[X] Plan Standard and Telekinesis
-[X] Blitz Action
-[X] Aerial Combat
-[X] Telekinesis
-[X] Kinetic Mastery

Basically, give Laura Blitz and AC, so she can keep up with the other combat mages, and give her Telekinesis to synergize with her absurd compatibility with Cassiel. And likewise with Kinetic Mastery. Could replace the mastery with frost edge.

I'm avoiding Guardian Beast so @Silently Watches doesn't have to keep track of yet another character.

Plan Rime Valkyrie
[X] Frost Edge, an ice-elemental weapon-enhancing spell
[X] Aerial Combat
[X] Shell Break – Decrease target's physical resilience.
[X] Aspect of the Yeti – Basic tier Strenght Enhance utility spell

Basically doubling down on Laura being a beat stick. She's fast, hits hard, can debuff armor if she's having trouble making her blows hurt, and can fly. I debated either the Shell Break or a buff from the basic tier that can be self cast and increase Laura's strength but I thought this would be more immediately useful then said fuck it why not both.

[X] Aerial Combat
Aerial Combat is not optional. End of.
[X] Frost Edge, an ice-elemental weapon-enhancing spell
-[x] Avalanche, ice-based short to mid-range Buster (-2 XP)
We picked her to be a Melee Mage, we need to give her weapon enhancing spell.
With further clarification, my decision has shifted away from TK. Not fussed if that wins, still, but my preference has moved slightly.
[X] Blitz Action
And she needs something to close that gap. Missy might go 'Nyooom', but Laura at least needs to go fast enough to get close and hit people.

Is Frost Edge a basic tier spell? Meaning we'd just need 2 exp to give it to Laura?
Basic is 4xp, Modification is 2xp.

[X] Frost Edge, an ice-elemental weapon-enhancing spell
[X] Creeping Frost - Modification(weapon-enhancing spells), Stacking mobility debuff on hit, sufficient applications may behave like a Bind.
[X] Aerial Combat

@Silently Watches
Is this mastery modification ok?

Anyway general thoughts is:
-Guardian Beast is useful enough to want it for a support.
-Melee combatants need flight/mobility enhancement to be able to reliably engage their opponents. Flight more than speed, since flying opponents can no sell them entirely barring Busters.
-And you want an actual melee advantage if you're going into melee, so Frost Edge plus a Ice themed Frost Edge mastery seems appropriate

Once again, compatibility with Cassiel has no impact on telekinesis. ANYONE who knows Telekinesis and Unisons with her will get that boost.

Guardian Beasts aren't as bad as normal characters because their lists are fixed and they spend most of their time either with their mage or doing whatever pets do when we aren't watching.

It is basic tier, but basic tier spells cost 4 XP to learn, not 2.

I mean, it's not a mastery. Masteries upgrade Device spells to a template's Master-level version. What you want is a normal plain old modification that slightly changes the behavior of a spell.

As a modification, it's fine. I would recommend changing the line to start with "Creeping Frost" and continue on from there.

Hm, we can give Laura kinetic mastery later. This should be good enough for a start.

Laura has already had a taste of TK, and it'll give her a ranged option by just chucking debris around!

Once again, compatibility with Cassiel has no impact on telekinesis. ANYONE who knows Telekinesis and Unisons with her will get that boost.
My logic was: Laura has the best compatibility with Cassiel > Laura gets the pre-cog boost from Cassiel > Laura is most likely to Unison with Cassiel > Laura most like to have Cassiel's TK boost > Laura should be the one to get Telekinesis.

I don't know if anyone else had that logic chain, or if anyone took my initial prompt (I was the one that pointed out the synch rates in the first place) and misinterpreted things, but my reasoning is founded on solid logic.

[X] Frost Edge, an ice-elemental weapon-enhancing spell
[X] Aerial Combat
[X] Shell Break – Decrease target's physical resilience.
[X] Aspect of the Yeti – Spells that enhance strength.

The primary reason I think we should go telekinetic master is not for it to itself be an attack - but rather because Laura will be able to Lock an Endbringer in place long enough for us to throw enough Breakers at them, or grab enough people for a forced teleport, or target and fire enough Heavy weapons, etc. It gives us a chance to actually finish them off with less effort than would normally be required because if they can't move we can aim every hit directly at their core.

You saw how effective keeping Leviathan pinned for a few seconds using Epoch's power and temporal sludge. Imagine what we can pull holding him still as long as Heavenfall lasts.
