Maybe Battering Blast cannons? Can we get the CL high enough to really exploit it?

Also, there's this:

It's a neat low level spell that penetrates various forms of DR as you level.

An illusion that boosts Diplomacy and Intimidate, and penalizes acting against you. Just have Viserys disguise himself as himself.

Maybe this has use in our growing industrial efforts.

Roll twice on brain stuff.
Oh, I see some new spells.

Raiment of Command is a new one to me. That's really nice for a 1st level spell, though I guess it does balance out due to allowing a Will save.

Masterwork Transformation takes too long and costs too much to be widely used. It's better for our crafters to just make their stuff as Masterwork to begin with.

Investigative Mind is a nice one, too. We haven't used it personally yet, but Naria, one of Lya's Arcanums, was built with it.

Very nice character interaction @Crake I love the character interactions there and the view from outside of Viserys. Baelon needs pretty decent social skills to see as much as he did, Viserys was trying to set people at ease, though admittedly there is only so much 'at ease' you can manage when offering to incinerate large swaths of jungle.

He does have some pretty decent social skills for his level plus magic items to give him a considerable boost. But rolling well also helps. There's a considerable debuff to "appearing harmless" when you throw down an offer to nuke a place to make things "easier" for settlement.

Baelon's initial reaction was "this is you trying to get people to relax?!" The second one was "he doesn't actually realize when he makes those statements how threatening they come off" and then finally "I'm glad he's on my side".

Both are great spells, but they're limited by both their range and the necessity of a higher caster level to be effective.

Unfortunately, it's just not practical to use most offensive spells to make enchanted ranges weaponry.

Yeah, the only long range attack spells that aren't 9th level apocalypses are Ice Storm, Chain Lightning, Fireball, Acid Arrow, and Telekinesis. If we had access to Warlocks, we might have been able to set up eldritch spear emplacements.

  • [X] Learn more rumors from Yi Ti and the Summer Islands
[X] Plan Not losing the Spotlight
-[X] Preparation and setting the stage: gather Dany, Glyra and the Roiling Chaos, divinate everything form the Hag and the location.
--[X] Any servant or pets from her should be either captured or killed beforehand, without her knowing about it.
-[X] Execution: Viserys and Dany will remain invisible and concealed by all our means at our disposal. The Roiling Chaos will sneak into the hut and play with the hag's mind: they will move objects, enter and go out as little more than shades moving on the corner of her vision. Then they will go further, and start smashing objects, Telekineses from Viserys will be used to smash pottery and glass, the wind will blow leaving a terrifying sound, doors and windows slap open and close, and a creeping fog will start to fill the whole place, while more definite shadows will dart in and out and start harassing her. When the Hag is sufficiently desperate, she will fall with a Grease Spell and any liberal pushes necessary, maybe even Black Tentacles if it is really needed. Then, the lanters holding the Wisps will fall and utter darkness will fill the hut. And then, they shall hear a bargain whispered in a dozen creepy children voices:
--[X] A bargain was made. Those who in rage rejected help shall receive it anyway. They shall go free into the wild. With no light, their captor will go blind. Yet if they don't seek who offer this, they shall find themselves in the same prison, under another jailor. Seek the crimson and black scales.
---[X] Translation: we keep our word, and we will cast Blindness on the Hag after freeing you. Then if you don't go back to us and offer fealty, you will find themselves as lamps in custody of our prisons and Preceptor Archons.

Part MMMCCLXXII: From Farthest Shores
From Farthest Shores

Thirtieth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

Where once you could do little more than gather rumors on the wind to hear of the wider world, often paid by your own hand, now there are many to listen in your place, agents of the Inquisition, traders sailing under the banner of the Silver Serpent, and clerks diligently working at the offices of the Astral Currents Stock Exchange. Somewhat to your surprise, even the the red-robed priests of R'hllor have been helpful in this regard. Melisandre is proving quite adept in picking through rumors and hearsay to give you one more perspective on matters of import. By all this combined effort you see distant realms more clearly than once you saw even as far as Tyrosh or Sunspear.

Rumors of the Summer Islands

To Pay in Steel Coin: Yanda Zaq, Prince of Last Lament, has wed Jola Daa, a princess from the Sweet Lotus Vale upon Jhala, also a priestess who spent some years tending to the Talking Trees in Tall Trees Town, where all the history of the islanders is carved, and according to the envoys of Silver Serpent Enterprise who attended the wedding, a sorceress of no small power. They had seen her wield a spell of the Sixth Circle to conjure a blessed beast in honor of her marriage to the prince. Yet it is clear to any who know the tide of court that this is a marriage of equals in princely power, if not personal. The steel trade has made Last Lament rich, and so the prince of Last Lament seeks to bring more of Walano under his sway. The next war upon the island will be one to watch, though war upon the islands bears little kinship to what it is in other lands. It will be over in a day or two one way or the other, and not trouble the flow of trade.

Burnt Gold: Several orchards of Goldenheart on Omboru have been burned by stealth, and neither the guards nor the wards of the priestesses seem to be able to prevent further destruction. The warriors are always said to fall into a deep slumber and neither they nor any more distant witnesses can see the fire, yet by morning the trees are unmistakably burned. Rumors of curses and monsters abound, causing the Princess of Sweet Wind to call for champions to rid her of this blight.

Stranger Winds: The Shipyards of Koj, most famed and prosperous in all the Summer Islands, are witness to a ship like no other that has ever sailed there, one as much of sorcery as wood and tar, sail and rope. Prince Sorrol Zo seeks to build swan ships that will trap the wind itself in their sails and travel where they will. Many call this madness or even blasphemy, but thanks to an intrepid Red Priest and a flame whispered message you know the prince has better chances than most would assume to succeed in his project. There is a djinn mage upon the island teaching the local mages how to weave spells into cloth.

Rumors from the Jade Sea

Harmony Disturbed: There was a minor riot on the docks Yin sparked by rumors of necromancy and fel arts among the Lengi traders from Turrani. Thankfully, order was restored by the swift intervention of the Riverguard. One can only hope that the arrival of yet more foreigners with all too visible magic will not further inflame spirits.

Salt to the Wound: Izril, who names himself lord over the Shrinking Sea, has sent envoys to Trader Town to the court of the traitor general, offering alliance. Whether this is truly an alliance against the Azure Emperor or barbarians taking advantage of an empire divided against itself, as it is said in Yin, you are not certain. Supposedly, Izril is moved by dreams of doom and darkness, and you can certainly think of one foe of the Orange Emperor who would reap doom upon more than just Yi Ti if Her pawns are not stymied.

By Heaven's Grace: The Emperor has proclaimed that all rōnin without outstanding warrants of arrest may seek imperial service freely, though governors are permitted and indeed encouraged to assign these men less than vital tasks until they have proven their worth. The proclamation makes specific note of any sorcerers who take advantage of this permission. They are to be sent to the capital, or if that is not feasible, to the nearest monastery in good standing to establish their purity.

What do you do next?

Here's an edited version of the chapter, DP.

[X] Plan Wisp Closure
-[X] Teleport in and render the Hag helpless, but don't kill her. We will honour our promise, even if they didn't honour theirs. They get one chance to either serve us or remain inside those lamps, in the Larder.

There, and the salted wound will be mended

The Summer Islands appears to have a lot of interesting stuff going on. Enough to keep a group of adventurers occupied running a really nice ocean going, island hopping campaign.

EDIT: I'm especially curious about that Djinn mage and what they're teaching the Summer Islanders. Is it just enchanted sails so that they always have the wind, or something more impressive, like flying ships?

-[X] See how your Changeling wards are doing and spend some time with family

-[X] Visit the Orphne Court. You have an Undead to make an Unraveling from, and you'd like to know whether the Fey of Orphne can provide an additional "safety net" in case all goes wrong - something stopping, or at least blunting Divine attacks would be nice.

Don't care about the Changelings, and this action makes as much sense to do now than it does next month -
An Unraveling would be great to have on hand for the Timmie-fight, no doubt - but even that aside, there is at least a slim possibility of Fey having something to halp us out, even if they can't directly empower WoE now.
Stacking the deck, and all that jazz.

That would involve using bound elementals though, bargained for ones in fact since slavery is outlawed in the Summer Isles and that's how the Djinn do their ships, IIRC.

It's a pretty expensive project, but sails that can generate their own wind and sail safely through becalming is muuuch more reasonable and can be applied on a wider scale.

We should consider sending Moonsong with a bunch of PCs, at least a couple of teams, to the Summer Isles to help out the locals and gain XP/lore and make some contacts. This upcoming month she's acting as our taxi around the Plane of Water though. And everyone else is kinda occupied. So maybe at the start of 294 AC.

Moonsong: "Your ships have enchanted sails. That's cute."

*points out toward the horizon, as an object quickly comes into view*

Moonsong: "Mine flies."

*lute drop*

This upcoming month she's acting as our taxi around the Plane of Water though.
And then carpet-bombing the Golden Company afterwards.

Ah, the glorious, glorious aerial artillery.

It'd take just a short amount of time to evacuate the Thenns, right?
Because I can reasonably see her doing just that for about a week, and then being off to the Moon Summer Isles.

Lya/some Arcanums can reasonably blitz the RA to look into the wards they have there, while a team of adventurers clears out local barrows.

We're not scheduled to return to the Plane of Water until at least the 8th of the month, so there would be some wiggle room for Moonsong to travel down to the Summer Islands, @Crake.

She might not be able to stick around, but she could definitely make an impression and do some talking before needing to play extraplanar Uber.

I wonder if Theon wants to stay with the Yi-Ti fleet or join Moonsgon on the Moonchaser?

I'd actually rather she stick around when she gets there the first time. Gunboat diplomacy. :V

She'll be busy enough this month anyway.

They're all kinda busy.
Nah, I meant the 1st month, mate.
I'm well aware of people doing stuff.

I was the one who had to throw that together.

tbh, we have a lot of things we want done there even before our orders are ready:
---Plane of Water Actions: Start---
[X] Visit Vialesk again
-[X] Talk to Star Admiral Kharban of the Splendid Armada, get him more fleshforged creatures if he so desires (likely).
--[X] Attempt to secure a military alliance against Deep Ones.
-[X] Grab the crafting orders we made, make new ones.
-[X] See if the Council of Vialesk has changed their mind about setting up Planar Terminus station - with all the trade we brought in with us.
--[X] Imply that if they don't, they will greatly lose out on the trade, since we'll look into opening one in the Emirate of Mardja anyway.

[X] Visit the Emirate of Mardja, inquire about setting up a Planar Terminus station there.

[X] Look further for mercenary companies capable of effectively fighting Deep Ones.
-[X] Asking around in Mardja seems a good start, what with us having made a defense pact.

[X] We already got the crafters and Enchanters from Vialesk and Hampa, now would be the time to try and get more from:
-[X] Dalaqua (focus: crafters/artisans, also any enchanters we can get).
-[X] Zerbat (focus: artisans, also any enchanters we can get).
-[X] Dawa (focus: crafters (fishnets), also any enchanters we can get).
-[X] Kela (focus: crafters (massive amounts), also any enchanters we can get).

[X] Look into the situation between the Emirate of Kela and the Wyrm Galzerai - learn the truth about their relationship insofar as we can, there is a possibility of us manning a rescue mission of sorts, in order to get Kela's resource support.

[X] Look into the possibility of bringing more Marid Emirates into your war on Deep Ones:
-[X] Dawa (fishnet-wielding units, said to have been excelling in the last war).
-[X] Kela (huge amounts of crafters, so possibly war-machines of sorts..?).

[X] Attempt to have a meeting with Althazi the Deathless - learning his price for use of his forces against Deep Ones, and looking for guarantees he won't establish a foothold on Plane of Balance once those are vanquished.
---Plane of Water Actions: End---
So Moonsong is reasonably useful as a towing unit there since the very first day, if we are to be efficient about things.

I definitely agree with going to Water even before the 8th of the month, since we can grab our loot and peace out to take care of business elsewhere.
