Okay, so how about going in and proposing them the new deal without the whole horror movie?
I'm not really interested in making any deals with them. If we want them, we can just go take them from the Hag. We can grab her, too, while we're there.

Then they can all go to the Larder, or wherever we decide on.

Or we can just leave them to serve as lamps for the Hag. It's a suitable fate for them, IMO.

I feel incredibly cheated about the wisps.

@Goldfish, I don't know why you consider bringing Nirah against the Golden Company to be overkill. Not only should that be the point, we're expecting Tiamat to unleash multiple dragons on us when we make our move.

I'm fine with letting them be Hag prisoners, honestly. If we really want to rub it in, we should offer the Hag some better locks or reinforced lamps.

I think the disconnect is that y'all are considering moving against the Golden Company and Tiamat as the same thing, while I have been keeping them separate in my head, with the GC being the mortal warriors and mages and Tiamat's side being the Bitch Queen herself, anything she might send against us, such as Dragons, Drakes, or an Avatar.

The regular mortals are barely worth consideration. I want Nirah and our other heavy hitters ready and waiting to engage Tiamat's response directly, not squishing an army of mooks.

Of course, I say this with the assumption that we'll be doing this in or near the shadow fortress, which won't be heavily defended by mortal agents.

The Golden Company has multiple clerics, all of whom will be no doubt spamming Dragon Ally to conjure whatever Tiamat has had in reserve.

Facing Tiamat directly was meant to happen after f!Aegon is dragged kicking and screaming off the field.

How about this:

[] Plan Simple
-[] Teleport in and render the Hag helpless, but don't kill her. We will honour our promise, even if they didn't honour theirs. They get one chance to either serve us or remain inside those lamps, in the Larder.

I'm considering Clerics of a high enough level to be a threat to be a part of Tiamat's forces and no longer really part of the Golden Company. There will definitely be a chance for encountering them when we move directly against Tiamat.

It would be preferable if we get to F!Aegon when he's out in the field away from the shadow fortress, but I've been assuming we would have to dig him out of the fortress.

/fingers crossed

I'll vote for that after we get our Yi-Ti rumor post.

I highly doubt it's going to work out the way you hope, and it's probably going to bite us in the ass if we assume the Golden Company has no support from Tiamat. We know that isn't true.

The two threats are intertwined. I think we should treat them as such. One location is as likely to invite retribution from Tiamat as the other.

It would be nice if the main body of the GC and TIamat's personal forces can be seperated, but I suspect She will use the common soldiers as distractions/sacrifice anyway and intervene in full force, instead of letting us capture/kill them at our leisure.

@Goldfish, the Golden Company as a force has Drakes, all of which have considerably powerful Prismatic Breathweapon - but no real mobility to support anyone but the Golden Company, and as such they really a part of their force.
So are the minor wizards/clerics, and/or any fleshcrafted monsters they will field (likely many).

That's at bare minimum.

If F!Aegon is with them?
We'd have to concentrate our forces there.
If he's in the Fortress?
We'd go there personally.

But we'll be splitting our forces 3 ways regardless, just because there is an above-zero chance of her dropping high-power Champions/Summons/Outsiders into the fray.

(3rd way of us splitting the forces are the spies in Yi-Ti, they need to be cleared out simultaneously with everyone else to not have time to go into hiding - thankfully, we have Crake's Boi to support our effort there).

EDIT: Can we open Ninja-academy in SD yet? They are everywhere, after all.

That's fine if it doesn't. It's not like we're going to bring a small party to deal with everything. If we need to bring the heavy hitters to wipe them out, then so be it.

I think we can coordinate with Mah Boi to a degree, and even Orange Juice, in regards to hitting the camps located in Yi Ti. That should take some of the load off our shoulders and let us concentrate a little more in the other areas.

Though hell, we have a lot of PCs these days, y'know... we should probably make a list of those powerful enough to survive the kind of firepower expected to be thrown around.

I started a list along those lines a while back, I'll get back to it.

The action-allocation in the month actually allows us to bring everyone in this particular fight.
(aside from those in Ghis, ofc, those guys have to be on constant guard - the Devils will definitely pull some shit if we leave them without oversight for as much as a day, being as tightly in a corner as we have them).

It counts as a "1 free action per month" to all but those Mindblanked Companions we assigned to preparing everything for us to start (since Tiamat's clerics run Divinations all the time).

The "Spy-ring" group needs not be all that powerful indeed - a Companion or two at most with some minions should do, really.
The Shadow-Fortress will not let us drop "siege engine"-like support, so mostly Companions, I assume.
The field battle's gonna have everything big anc chunky we can throw at it in hopes Tiamat doesn't summon enough counters right off the bat, and the Fortress-group has the time to clear it to then move in to finish with the field-battle.

Interlude DCLXXXIX: Summonings Fel and Fair
Summonings Fel and Fair

Thirtieth Day of the Eleventh Month 293 AC

Chamber of Benign Summoning, Shadow Tower, Sorcerer's Deep

Fire roared around the circle arcane oils burning true, not to bind, but rather to call forth to the golden winged chorus, three more singers to heal and to guide, to mend and to teach. One hundred and sixty one, Lya remembered, Not a round number certainly but one that would bring much aid to those sorely in need of it; the poor, the lost... the orphaned. She spoke the tongue of fire fairly, they all remarked upon it when she conversed with them and formally sealed the agreements in the name of the crown, though of course these were not hard bargains to make. Velen's kin wanted to give what aid they could to a world filled with hope and fear in equal measure, to tip the scales true. Still, there is no denying the fact that I'm better at talking to fire spirits than people, at least without magic. Once the thought would have been bitter, now it was simply another part of herself, no more and no less strange than any other.

Summoned 161 Phoenixes (483 HD)

In another far more warded chamber, a different Lya, and yet the same, sat face to face with a conjurer trained in the Academy of Chains, in whom flowed the blood of Baator, and whom many there would see cast into ruin as she would see them. It had clearly not been comfortable for Siduri to share her infernal lore over a cup of Myrish Black tea. Oath or no, the habits of a lifetime did not break easily, and for Siduri of Dis those habits were of distrust and domination. Here too a sort of hope was born, though darker by far than phoenix' song. The hope of vengeance, and beneath that the hope that she would finally be able to stop running. Although she suspected neither sorceress would find the comparison flattering, Siduri reminded Lya a little of Melisandre and not just in their power over flame.

"So you are not entirely sure on the names of the imps since you never called them forth..." Lya began.

"Cowardly, untrustworthy, and weak, what is there to summon?" Siduri shrugged. "I made use of devils for their arcane abilities and their strength in battle. Imps, however, have little more than the skill to boast and flatter." A small sigh escaped her lips. "I've seen far too many fall to their blandishments over the years. I realize it's hard to fathom knowing what you know, being where you are, but it's disturbingly easy to come to trust an imp, especially one made into a familiar. There were tales... Ah, never mind, you don't want to hear old Disian lies do you?"

"I'm curious about many things, and even lies can reveal something about the teller or the place they were told," Lya replied sincerely.

"There were rumors in the academy that a sufficiently skilled or strong will could tear his or her imp familiar free of the grasp of Hell. It made a sweet lie for those who had already invested blood and soul-fire into the bond."

"i see..." probably more than you want me to, Lya thought. Would Siduri ever consider visiting an archon mind healer, or one of their mortal students once they were fully trained? she wondered.

"...we need healers everywhere really, but what we need even more than that are teachers," in her other body Lya motioned to a copy of the Imperial Times. "We have been trying to spread knowledge of the dangers of the world, but you can only do so much without a teacher. Ideally everyone who knows low magic rituals should also know a little about the nature of spirits, fey, and fiends."

"You teach such things in orphanages too?" one of the three spirits asked.

"Orphans receive some of the most comprehensive education the state can provide. They can use the leg up in life and the simple fact that they are not expected to work for their keep, as most children outside the nobility and merchant families are expected to do, means they have the time to study."

"A kindly deed," the phoenix bowed slightly before setting off out the window and into its new life. A pity she would not be able to gain such affinity for the spirits of earth from the Old Gods, as their kinship to stone was at once removed, through root and soil. Perhaps in the libraries of the Opaline Vault there were more answers, if she could find the time or make it.

OOC: I hope the structure here is not too confusing, I'm trying to get across how having two bodies feels to Lya. She is in both places emotionally intellectually and in every other respect. She is not just splitting her attention as though between two drones.
