trade knowings and shinies with them.
memetic Corvidism is a dangerously quick to spread, and hella enjoyable condition.
:V

Yeah, these guys seem like they might just prefer living in SD - although we'd have to do the usual "show-and-tell"-routine again for them to trust us, and waiting for them to take SD's measure, and probably talking to the elders in person...

But I think we can manage it.

And as for the knowledge destroyed with the Pyromancers...

Whatever.
No, really, the act was much needed, I don't feel sorry for any lives, loot, or lore lost.

Better than dealing with Devils, every day of the week.

It was also cathartic to functionally execute the organization involved in Aerys' schemes, even if most of the satisfaction is from destroying the organization than it is the people (who I didn't really much care about until I learned some of them were devil pawns).

Though given how quickly we basically replaced them with mass production alchemy... I'm wondering how many people suspect our involvement.

Perfectly coincidental! 😊

It's especially funny because it's true while also being really hard to believe for those not in the know.

Would've already guessed such.

Best guess is Hell. But the thing is, all the deals Hell would offer would basically make puppets of the Lannisters. Their utility to actually getting rid of Viserys, the true threat, is minimal, and their ability to actually leverage control over the nobility, much less the small folk, isn't much greater than Legions of devils force marching everyone to death while whipping them every step. It'd be simpler to focus on killing Viserys and then ruling through a less irritating proxy for some of that systematic soul-harvesting goodness they did with Valyria.

So who would give Tywin a deal for firepower he'd actually swallow?

Then it hit upon me. The Brass Bastard. He's got enough on his plate that legitimately conquering the Prime Material long term is a distant concern right now. But positive relations with Tywin like we've got with the Shaitan and Djinn? Only obstacle there is Lanna and Gerion would so not be on it, seeing as it would likely involve quite a bit of "selling small folk into slavery" and other clownishly evil nonsense, since Efreeti can't avoid maximum mustache twirling in all their dealings right now. One whiff of that getting out and it's all downhill. Another mark against a possible alliance--we've uncapped the genie so to speak on just what the fire spirits are all about. One hint of that, and Tywin's PR goes from "not specifically picking a fight with him" to "he's working with slavers who make Essosi magisters look like puppies, he's gotta go now".

And Efreeti don't seem big on subtlety from what I can tell. Unless you spell 'subtlety' like this.
Robert wouldn't stand for it either, if it came out that Tywin had been selling Smallfolk, to beings that literally melt souls down for coins, Robert would probably declare war on Tywin, if we didn't deal with it before Robert heard about it, you can say many things about Robert, but he's not the type of person to tolerate slavers.

Then Pycelle and Booodraven!Varys would really be run ragged on anti-assassination duty trying to keep Robert alive.

Don't worry, I haven't forgotten.

But did we get confirmation from @DragonParadox that we can grow them? They're typically Aberrations, though DP changed them to be Magical Beasts for fluff reasons, but we don't really have anything to work from as an example. They're not Draconic in nature, nor are they augmented by templates.
Yeah, I asked DP in PM earlier a while back and he gave me confirmation that the Flesh Forge can make them.

Robert probably at this point doesn't hold sway much further than immediately outside the Red Keep. The Crownlanders are Lannister bought. The court is rife with spies and minions of everyone but Robert. He doesn't even have his drinking buddies anymore. He has no hold on the Reach, little hold on the Stormlands at best, no hold over the Riverlands, the Vale is a non-entity as far as warring outside itself is concerned, the North is too far away, the Iron Islands isn't even in consideration, and the Dornish would eat popcorn while watching the show.

Ironically his Kingsguard is now probably at least 6/7ths loyal to him, though.

He would still try, and it would be great for us, as Robert would probably lose, and taking down the Lannisters, after they betrayed everything Westeros stand for, would be excellent PR to start our reign with.

Now that you mention it, priming Robert and aiming him at the Lannisters would be fairly simple. Probably not a bad way to kick off the conquest, either.

I'm going to need a few more votes guys

  • [X] Contrive a way to meet the boy and 'incidentally' notice his magic
-[X] Ask to speak to Denys. We are curious about the Mother Earth, from whom his power seems to originate. She is an ancient, nearly forgotten deity, one whom very little extant information remains. We are always on the lookout to establish friendly relations with benign deities.
--[X] Try to maneuver Lothar so that he invites himself and Edric to attend this meeting, but if he proves difficult to guide in this manner, outright invite him and Edric. Denys being a Cleric of Mother Earth is relevant to both of them, not only due to the general beliefs about magic shared by many Westerosi, but also their dealings with the Lannisters and the implications of the boy paying homage to a god other than the Seven in a land where they nominally hold sway.
---[X] This should also give Edric an opportunity to share the nature of his own newfound magic.

@DragonParadox, are the anti-infiltrator recommendations given by Darleth going to be implemented automatically, or is there a need to detail their implementation further still?

You guys are going to have to vote on that he just made general suggestions.
That seems nonintuitive unless you're specifically going to devote updates to background and world-building regarding these subjects. If we go through the trouble to get advice can we be given a vote immediately if it's that important, or in the case where all the stuff we need to do is given to us, just assume we're going to take the advice we asked for? We have enough bullshit to organize each turn as it is without adding more non-extraneous articles which take multiple different mechanical decisions to create decisions points for it, instead of shuffling that off to the general backlog of "whenever Goldfish/Crake/Egoo find time to make sheets".

That's fair but the trouble is I can't decide for you guys what kind of organizations or creatures you want to put in place and crucially how much to spend on it.
