Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

Is it bad that all this speculation is just making me more eager to write the interlude? :D Unfortunately, it needs to come at the end of the arc for a reason.

[X] The last group. You don't know where they are, so that means a search, but this is the best way to bring down the barrier.

The Fallen can choose to disengage their pseudo-Recursion Field whenever they feel like it, so they aren't trapped in here and thus since they don't yet appear to be retreating they most likely have some plan of action to continue the attack or secure their retreat (perhaps out of fear that us and Samantha could use our combined mobility, firepower, and sensors to destroy them when they retreat?). They likely have info on some of our capabilities and will likely attribute the radio silence of this last group to us attacking them, making it more likely that they will attempt to either withdraw or set up a hostage situation to put us in a bad situation. Either way, getting reinforcements from the Protectorate's rapid response teams (whatever they have on hand) makes it more likely that the pursuit will capture all of them since they will be bringing more forces to the battle and will also bring more powers and capabilities to bare to deal with hostage situations or anything else the tinker is setting up.

At the same time, the search might take time which we don't have, compared to attacking the known positions of the other Fallen teams for much more certain returns.

If that bridge is the only way out and the Fallen lack the Movers, tinkertech teleporters, etc. to withdraw from, then maybe their tinker is trying to set up a teleporter or some such device so that they can withdraw without being shot to pieces?

@Silently Watches are there any other known ways out of the resort besides the bridge the Fallen crossed to get in? Any ferries, other bridges, etc.?

No other bridges, but there are a couple of ferry docks.

[x] The spa group. The Tinker is someone you want out of the fight, but you'll be attacking him in his current workshop.

Taking out the Tinker should be our priority. Because the barrier is something that might draw TSAB attention, so we might get reinforcements from them.

Teana and crew would be ridiculous overkill at this point.
I agree with @landcollector . You so far have killed just over 40% of the Fallen/allies on this island. Once you went lethal scythe, you legitimately were doing the grim reaper's job for him.

Of course thats not bad, its why we do it 😽

Rapid response can mean a whole lot of things to North American capes , depending what they suspect is going on and what confirmed info is first sent out.

"Calamity Witch and no-backups??? Dragon pinned down by 30 Fallen capes" would proooobably draw in the lady who said its an easy few extra minutes flying to Australia :p

"Help us mop up fleeing Fallen, jobs mostly done but we could use a break" might just get locals and maybe Movers within the state (its still a coordinated cape attack on civvies, and these guys are high on the Most Wanted anyways likely)

One thing I'm hoping for is being able to take out Oriax. Him being dead or captured will make subsequent attacks by us against the Fallen much less headache inducing.

-[X] Non-lethal Solar Wrath to destroy any trap or defences

Let's bombard it and be finished with it, there is no reason to get too close to a tinker workshop.

You need to remove the quote tags or it won't be counted.

I'm torn between taking down the Tinker before they have time to set up and taking down the master before they collect to many hostages...

Dropping a solar wrath on their workshop shouldn't take too much time, right?

Hard choice, but I'll go with the Tinker over the master here. Now if we were talking about The Master, I'd be asking which regeneration and that might change my mind :)

I think I'd probably be looking for a way out of the universe for Taylor and her friends... Time Lords are just a tiny bit absolutely terrifying you know, even by the standards of the series' being crossed over in this fic.

Terrifying, yes, but the best of them leave their surroundings in better condition than they found them in. On average, ethically they seem to be no better or worse than humans, it's just the higher tech base and personal power that make them so worrying. No TARDIS or any of the more out there tech and I'd say anyone from the TSAB could take the average Time Lord, even a member of the military, in a fight.

Besides, I didn't say which way it'd change my mind. Most versions? Take down the barrier and run away! Antarctica sounds nice this time of year. Missy? Depends on where in her timeline we are, but mostly defaulting to leaving the planet via dimensional shift.

Goodness, she really doesn't Know anything about guns, does she?
In Taylor's defense, her idea of a bullet is a ball of fire and radiation. Those don't really fit in any gun.

I blame video games. After all, in those, all pistols use the same ammunition, regardless of what form the shots take. The number of games where the size of the gun matters more than whether it is an energy, projectile, etc. weapon, just leads to people not thinking about the bullets.

On the other hand, in Taylor's defense, she doesn't know what guns the security guards have. As I recall, Dragon said they didn't have much in the way of weapons. I forget what was said specifically, but there's every chance of some looted weapons having already made their way into the RSDF(Resort Self Defense Forces) hands.

From Boondock Saints:
"Paul Smecker:
Television is the explanation for this. You see this in bad television. Little assault guys creeping through the vents, coming in through the ceiling - that James Bond shit never happens in real life, professionals don't do that. "

I wanted a video clip, but couldn't find one, as Willem Dafoe delivering the line beats anything I could say, and also gives you the context. I could have looked harder, I suppose, but it wasn't worth the digging.

Except theres a slight problem here.... models of guns don't reliably just use a single type of ammo. Some guns either can load multiple (minor variants), oorr the same official "model" will have the ability to swap out barrels or such to change it.

Most especially..... SIG Sauer guns almost always are like this , whereas Glock changes the number based on the caliber (and whether its compact/subcompact/blah blah).

Considering Silently Watches stated disinterest in detailed gun trivia (back when we considered making toys for the Privateers) .... I'm not sure whats more impressive or odd, that they picked such an oddball Revolver for Ose to carry (was it his grandpa's from Korean War?) ... or that they actually found the one SIG model that couldn't come in 45 ACP :V

Seriously, if it was P220 instead of P226 for example (The latter being a minor redesign of the former) .... well, it says more about Kayleigh than Taylor expecting her to be certain :V

But hey, none of this matters tooooo much beyond confirmation that Kayleigh needs to ask Teana's advice on building a Device ! <3 <3
