Is the Gloaming sufficiently decentralized for individual Lords to negotiate temporary armistices?
No. Astamon would have their heads for that.

Vent through training and if Sparks get's punched for being....well Sparks, then that's that.

[] Let things play out. You've got more training to do.

===

Their petty and pathetic squabbling has nothing to do with you. Sparks and Gnaw can fight it out, or solve things themselves, at this point you don't really care.

All that matters now is training, becoming as strong as possible, gaining Power so you can Shred Count into little scraps.

With that in mind, you snap at Beat to roll the scroll back up, then rear up into a fighting stance.

Hours pass by in a blur, you remember being repeatedly struck, cut and stabbed. At some point you squeeze inside a tiny compartment and the pain changes, becoming burning sensations instead of purely kinetic force.

During the nights you throw yourself at the anti-Vamdemon spell with a single-minded frenzy burning the script into your mind through the haze of red and grey fog.

Gnaw shows up a few more times too, but he's unwilling to help with your training and therefore useless. So you simply nod at whatever he says and get back to the pursuit of strength.

And yet, despite all your painful efforts and relentless training, the results are barely noticeably. By the third evening, everything has slowed down to even more of a pathetic crawl. It's infuriating, you need to be stronger. Being a champion won't be enough to maul Count, you have to, need to digivolve.

HolyAngemon calls your squad to his office the very night you arrive back in Alt-City. Missing out on going to the gym is teeth-grindingly annoying, but at least it'll allow you to get a real confirmation on the mission...

Only… it doesn't.

=

"The Blessed Host is not interested in providing support for this endeavor." The Cherub's cold words snap you back into the moment, clearing away the mind-fog and replacing it with a sharp sense of fury.

You glare at the frowning-angel, only barely resisting the call to pounce upon his form and rip him apart. He visibly tenses under your attention, but doesn't waver.

"*Not interested* that's why we friggen' joined up!" Sparks roars, slamming his mechanical fist into the table. The wood splinters apart, collapsing the oversized piece of furniture and scattering the paperwork set upon it. HolyAngemon's hand blurs out, snatching a mug of dark liquid from the air before it can spill across his work.

HolyAngemon's response is to wiggle his nose in distaste, then raise up a copy of the scroll for emphasis.

"Make no mistake Bellators, this decision is not one I agree with. My very first action upon receiving this information was to begin planning a mission to make use of their information."

"Then why the sh-"

"Seraph Dominimon does not trust the Bulwark's integrity in this matter and has deemed it an *unnecessary risk*. Officially I have been ordered to utilize my forces to assist in uncovering the source of our leaks."

Sparks unleashes another growl of protest at that and raises his arm again, but a sharp look from HolyAngemon forces him to stand down. You're tempted, oh so tempted to ask where this Seraph is so you can shove a claw down his throat… however then the wording of his statement registers.

"Officially?"

"How observant of you Bellator. I have found a *loophole* as it were that will allow you to undertake this mission."

"Aha!/Is that so?"

"It is so. All forces within the Host have the right of *vacation days*. Breaks between missions as it were to mitigate fatigue build up. As such, I have granted the three of you a week-long extension of paid leave." The officer pauses for a moment to sip his cup before leaning back on his chair. "Unlike Seraph Dominimon, I trust Bulwark in this matter and the chance of eliminating a powerful Lord is an opportunity we have to take. "

"We lack the strength to defeat such a force." Beat notes, his voice tinged with frustration. "Crescemon alone was above me. Two other foes of similar power would see us crushed."

"That is correct." HolyAngemon nods in agreement, before taking a pained breath. "And it is for that exact reason that I have called in a favour from the research core. A well traveled Wisemon will be assembling my old Associate MasterTyrannomon and a number of his students to assist you in this crucial effort."

Master will be helping?... Thank the spirits. If he is providing assistance, then we can find victory.

"That increases our potential for victory."

"But it does not guarantee that victory." HolyAngemon bites out, nearly growling in frustration. "My request for leave was denied, as was the contract grant I planned to utilize in order to hire additional forces. "

I see… so we shall be battling at a disadvantage... so be it. This is where my path has led. I will see my family freed.

Cherub HolyAngemon slumps back in chair and raises a hand to rub at his helmet. His next words are tired, lacking both anger and his usual coldness.

"Understand that the Host cannot allow Seraphimon's reincarnation to take part in this mission. Do not attempt to contact him with this information. If that were to happen, the Host would see us all imprisoned for treason."

"Tch, yeah. Got it."

"I understand… and thank you."

"Hn."

"In light of your last mission's revelations Bellator Wisemon will be staying in this fortress until departure. General Mercuremon's mind cannot be allowed to reassert itself under any circumstances." Sparks opens his mouth to protest, but after a moment closes it again and settles for an unhappy grunt. "Elite Bellator Beat and Bellator Verge, you have until the 33rd to prepare before the Locomon departs. Spend that time well."

"Ay, I will."

"Blegh, yeah I got it. Let's get this whole mind thing over with."

"Then the two of you are Dismissed."

You give Sparks a concerned look, but the former FlameWizardmon flashes a confident smile and comforting thumbs up.

"Go do some trainin' Verge, I'll see ya soon."

Sparks…

"Thank you." With those words, you turn away and exit HolyAngemon's office. Your body still thrums with the steady burn of Wrath… but instead of being overwhelmed by it, the recent news is fortunate enough to help you remain in control. More specifically, it's been tempered by a newfound sense of hope.

Beat breaks off from you with his usual haste, in all likelihood heading for a gym. Not that you fault him for that, after all you're both heading for the same destination. It doesn't really matter who makes it there first. You have days to train.

With a sense of purpose you carefully maneuver through the halls, rushing for the fortress's exit. However, before you can make it halfway, a dark form flutters directly into your path.

Shurimon, the same Armor-Class digimon you'd glimpsed so many times before, blocks your path. Curiosity rises in your core as he raises a shuriken...hand… thingy, motioning for you to stop.

"Bellator *Verge* The Gryzmon." The mon's words are deathly cold, utterly at odds with normal sort of cheer he'd presented when you were asking for direction. And yet… this tone is familiar, your mind flashes with vague recognition, but... no memories rise up to explain that feeling.

Is he from Bulwark?

"Conscripted into the Host as a Drimogemon from the northern frontier after his village was destroyed, is the largest recorded Gryzmon on record and possesses unexplainable mutations, including dual attribute physiology." You narrow an eye at the eerily familiar shinobi. None of the information he listed was new to you but… that last part was supposed to be classified.

How does he know this?

"Tell me this. Does the name *Vergil* mean anything to you?"

Vergil?... that… why does that…

Splitting pain rocks your skull, forcing a single cry to the forefront of your mind.

"I think we'll call you… Vergil."

[x] Resist the pain.

Yeah, I don't like the look of this guy, and remembering a past where we may have been a Gloaming experiment is not what we want.

Further this seems to be a Dark Shurimon, so I trust it with our memories and head even less

[X] Resist the pain.

This Mind is ours now, bugger off you lived already.
Yes i know this is a past life flash back, I'm just curious at what happens when you say No to it.

Also our Boss once again proves he's a cool dood

[X] Embrace the memory.

We need to master ourselves if we want to contend with the Count, and our past one way or another is integral to who we are.

Our size, our mutations, our rage- all those are tools we must ensure serve us. Can we think for a moment our friends and allies wouldn't take these risks so as to help us? Why should we falter where we know they wouldn't

[] Resist the pain.
My main reasons are I am worried about past us trying to get us like Sparks and also not really seeing the benefits of inflicting even more emotion trauma on Verg right now. I also kind of want to see what this guy will do if Verg doesn't get his memory back.
Edit:
[X] Embrace the memory.
Changing my vote to this after some time to think on it a bit more.

Embracing sounds good, but what I'm concerned about, is us somehow rampaging while we do so. I would really rather not have us try to get answers, only for our past self to come rearing its ugly head and pull a Mercuremon.

"Hey, HolyAngemon! We found the leak!"

[x] Resist the pain.

A running thing with this qust is that your past life doesn't define who you are in this life.

Mecuremon needed a Spirit to pull that off

Verge has been having flashbacks to his past life since DAY 1

We finally get a chance to dive into the Mystery that is Verge!!!

I need this to win, do you understand?
