We're well past avoiding things simply for being inhumane.

We engage in copious amounts of blood sacrifice to the point of industrializing some of the processes. We harvest grafts from fiends who happen to be sentient. We turn people into books if they have intel we need.

I don't mind going different directions for the sake of efficiency, but arguing against inhumane practices is chasing a train that's long since left the station, especially given that a good portion of our anti Deep Ones research is going to involve taking them apart.
It's not about being humane, but about being inhumane needlessly. It is well within our means to accomplish quite a lot without crossing that line. Harvesting grafts, however, requires straight up bloodletting and harvesting of organs, so we do that because it cannot be avoided.

Still, it's a topic that doesn't really need further discussion and will only lead to another debate on morals or ethics, so for the love of all that is practical and pragmatic, can y'all please not rehash this crap again?

Seriously.

Fine. Shutting up.

Switching topics, what do you guys think would be good ideas for more companies to start in the other poorer provinces? Like Golden Fields to help them develop a bit faster.

I'm thinking maybe a mass herbal products company. Focused on medical and resident plants. Lower class ones for Mass Growth. Basically the mundane section of the d20 Herbalist pages plants.

Any other ideas?

Paper production, once we learn of it IC from the fruits of the Yi-Ti expedition.

A paper industry is one of the fundamental steps needed to start the process of truly making universal literacy a reality in the Imperium. Eventually.

In the short term, it will be very lucrative and helpful for our bureaucracy.

Could we print True Speech to Common self learning books? Like self earning language books but illiterate people can learn it because the known language half is in true speech.

Huh, did I explain that idea right? Oh, and tea and porcelein production! And we forgot the mass toy run!

Maybe a continental plant based Ink and Dye agriculture and manufacturing company too? Weve had Tyrosh for a long time might as well put their knowledge in that field to use.

White Tree Paper Works and Dragons Ink and Pigments Consortium?

Using True Speech imparts general comprehension of the contents, but not true understanding. Otherwise, we could produce RPG video game-style skill books.

Nah, not skill books. Cheap learn it yourself foreign language books. But the foreign language is just the written form of low Valyrian or whatever the local language is. The explanation part is in True Speech. Basically using magic to speed up the rise of literacy rates.

They would still have to learn it the slow way but they have a useful guide that doesnt need live fulltime instruction from a literate person. A supplement to our Public Schools and for the general population too old for schooling.

that one might do better in Jurassic!Australia since they have a wider range of valuable reagents there (as far as I'm aware anyway).

Did the coffee, sugar beet, and rice stuff the thread was talking about a few thousand pages ago ever get implemented?

Dont think so. Might be wrong. We never made a Endless Chocolate Fountain either. It's just one Miracle and a 1000 IM.

So a paper company, a ink and die company, a new world produce company, and a herbal plants mass agriculture company. These sound like they have potential?

That is an exploit I don't think DP will allow, not for something as complex as language and the written word.

Another simple industry we could start up would food preservation, specifically canned food. A Fabricate-based canning device could turn out tens of thousands of cans per day, allowing for long-term storage and transport of fresh food with no further magic involved. There is just some practical knowledge and practices which need to be developed.

How about just promoting non magic local methods of preservation? Maybe importing whatever methods they use in Westros of long term storage and taking advantage about the availability of so much more cheaper metals to get mundane canning off the ground?

And yeah I guess the books would be too much of an exploit.

And hey, how about a floating manufacture company? Focused on using cheaper linen or hemp crop availability and growth to manufacture cheaper clothes in mass?

preservation devices to mount in silos would sell explosively given how Planetos' winters are. Control temperature items would probably do just as well for the same reason, and provide AC during the summer.

We still have not made those Blue Ice freezers. Those dont even need spells! It's just material science with some exotic material.

Hey is blue ice buyable in the Plane of Water? It sounds like the kind of stuff you could find in the deeper parts of the plane near the parts near the Negative plane.

Unfortunately, Planetos is at least a generation of two away from having the non-magical mechanical engineering and manufacturing capability to mass produce uniform metal cans in that manner.

Planetosi societies are already very good at more traditional methods of food preservation, so they don't likely need help there. Drying, smoking, and salting meat, drying fruits and vegetables, pickling, etc., all have to be pretty common already.

Planetos yes. Bulabar messing around with a insane budget? Maybe not. But yeah fabricate is fine too. Just feel we dont get enough mileage out of insane engineering yet. There are just so many fun possibilities.

And hey do you think we could get blue ice here next month? I really do want to start on blue ice refrigeration.

OTOH we can pickle things on a large scale due to the availability of crystal jars in arbitrary amounts.

Hehe didnt consider that. But it's not like metal is exactly scare anymore. Might just be more familiar to use cans and hope to foster mundane development in the field as time goes on.

OTOOH Blue Ice basement freezers and Crystal Green Houses! That a possibility?

I am looking forward to promoting Refrigerated Basements with Blue Ice and Fabricated Crystal Green Houses with Cocoa and other exotic plants and trees. They can be the new upper class fad!

I'm talking stuff like the Royal Botanical Gardens being common city garden associations. Really up that integrating nature into cities thing we did with Sorcerors Deep everywhere but now with plants from everywhere.

  • [X] Ask the mages questions about their nature or their mistress' experiments
-[X] Have Viserys use Brain Spider via Miracle to hurry along the interrogations. It can scan eight minds simultaneously for similar subjects.
-[X] Have Varys on the lookout for intelligent minds, reporting their type, approximate intellect, and locations as we go.
-[X] Ask what other forces their mistress had and their exact nature and locations (also get a detailed explanation of all traps and contingencies)
-[X] Ask about every past, current, and future experiment of import their mistress had
-[X] Ask how their mistress became a Brainstealer Dragon, and what other Deep Ones she has been in contact with
--[X] Does she know of any other Deep Ones plots, or if any other Brine Dragons have been struck by similar idiocy?
-[X] Ask what plans their mistress had both active and in active
-[X] Ask about all treasures their mistress had and their locations and guardians/wards
-[X] Get all locations of importance they're aware of marked on your new map of the Plane of Water, along with any Deep Ones strongholds they're aware of in this plane or others
-[X] Try to catch more illithidae for experimentation, then go secure the hoard and as much research as possible. Strip the lair bare of everything of note.
--[X] Once done, get an accounting of the spoils, decide how to split them, and decide what to do with the defeated subjects of Fearex once you get an understanding of how warped they've become.
