My hands are tied on this, since it is what you guys voted on. We had the discussion about changing minor action already and we talked about why it's a bad idea, much less ret-coning them a should be done in this case. Still Yss is awake, you can ask for for a recharge with your plentiful larder of sacrifices.

1. Get a gauge on his changing nature given that most of his worshippers are rapidly being freed by us.
2. Don't bring it up ourselves, but see if he says anything about Azor Ahai
3. See if he's willing to ditch the "I am the only god" narrative or at the very least work with other gods against the coming oblivion
4. If we like what we hear, secure his help against Tiamat given that the mortal he was born from suffered under the tyranny of the Red Dragon Empire

I know you can't change it, and I don't expect you to. If anything I'm mad that something so wasteful was proposed at all, and that I missed it when I was reviewing the minor actions.

Oh hey, we definetly atleast got the Mind Balnk item then. That's something.
Besides what else are we gonna use the staff for other than tying up loose ends? Heck I'd be willing to use the Unilla book, her sisters name and the staff to try and get the sister too if it would work. Any enemy fiend we know the name of but has kept away from us using a Mind Blank or similar high cost item is a valid target in my mind.

Strategic concerns. Things like needing to find a Mind Blanked enemy like Varys ASAP who will disappear forever if you let him go.
Things like cursing Jeyne Weaver's original body so the Deep Ones don't have anything left of her to experiment with.
The Staff is limited in its charges and expensive to recharge (we're talking CR 16+ sacrifices). If it happens to be low when we actually need it, we're screwed.

Yeah couldn't access SV for a bit there.
This was a bit of a Strategic concern though. The Efreeti will be searching for this guy with atleast a bit of effort due to the humiliation it implies for one of the Viziers apprentices to have his body possessed by his own familiar.
Now that we have him we can possibly even set up an ambush for whoever will send after him. Potentially even another apprentice. Especially if they want to keep this in house and hush hush. That would be worth it.
