Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
Action Priority List.
We've only got one more set of actions after this so let's make them count.

Top Priority

[ ] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.
This suggests a future of investigation and study at Karak Eight Peaks, and perhaps helping Johann poke at Skaven technology.
Our top priority. This is is something we need to get done and the longer we leave it the worse our recollections and worse the possibility of our Amber Wizards leaving. We might also be able to fit in writing about our MAP as well or extolling our impressive deeds to wow the College.

[ ] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks with its reconquest, as a Spymaster focused on threats within the Karak.
[ ] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to hatch the supposedly Lustrian eggs and study and possibly train whatever hatches.
This suggests a future catching up on your pre-existing study topics.
Keeping our Amber Wizards around is huge. We need them not only to help with our research papers but also to take advantage of unique opportunities such as the Spider and our dinosaur eggs. Additionally we can expect them to be useful for keeping the Ulrican's wolves healthy and there may be other beasties we need them to deal with in the future.
Not taking an Amber Wizard action means we lose them and the valuable activities they can perform for us.

Moderate Priority

[ ] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks with its reconquest, as a Spymaster focused on threats within the Karak.
Scouting out the enemies of Karak Eight Peaks. We know the Orcs and Skaven are all up to something and we are uniquely positioned to find out what. We have our fog of war trait and know well the dangers of an unknown enemy so let's make then known (and then kill them). We should absolutely take this action either now or next turn to prevent being blindsided by enemy forces.

[ ] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks with foreign relations, as a Spymaster focused on threats outside the Karak.
Interaction action with an important Dwarf. We can delay this for a while and be OK. He's a young thane in charge of the air forces and so someone we'd like to know especially for his aid in performing aerial reconnaissance.

[ ] Join Karak Azul as they raid and scout in force the other portions of the Karak.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks with its reconquest, as a battlefield wizard.
Similar to the other scouting action except not as good. We'd be assisting others doing their tasks rather than doing something only Mathilde can do. We do get to meet important Dwarfs though so that makes it more desirable.

[ ] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks, as leader of the Undumgi and point of contact for the Ulricans.
No one is clamoring for this site so if we want it in the future it should be easy enough to acquire. Also building shrines on places where important deeds were done feels a lot like an Imperial Shrine World which always felt a bit wasteful. Given that our patron is Ranald he'd probably be just as fine with some secret marks and the knowledge of what happened spread subtly as he would a proper shrine made. This would mean we don't actually need to claim it at all.

Low Priority

[ ] King Belegar is allowing you to use the King's Armoury. Recover your extant study materials from Stirland and tuck them away safely in there.
This suggests a future catching up on your pre-existing study topics.
Spending an entire week and a valuable action just to pick up a box right now when we can grab it for free later on seems wasteful.

[ ] All this time away has made you miss your friends. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.
This suggests a future in Stirland, whether Roswita likes it or not.
[ ] You're going to have a rough time explaining your windfall to the Bursars. Better to get that over with.
This suggests a future performing an assignment the Grey Order thinks is suited to you.
[ ] You've been out of touch for a while. Head to Barak Varr and then Altdorf, and catch up with what's been happening in the Empire.
This suggests a future seeking employment on the Council of an Elector Count.
More Empire visiting actions. It feels like these would be best served done all together when we have time to spend in the Empire to minimize travel time. Best done once we know what possible enemy forces might attack at Karak Eight Peaks and have some good stuff to show the College. Instead of spending 4 actions we'll be able to do everything all at once if we wait until a more opportune moment.

Not a Priority

[ ] Not every sellsword will accept King Belegar's offer of employment. Travel with them.
This suggests a future as a travelling mercenary.
Leaving to go travel. We abandon all our stuff and head off for adventure.

I actually disagree with the last bits. Mathilde's very high martial makes her ideal for engaging in sabotage and assassination campaigns, and so does her spells and spell masteries. She's a poor diplomat and the needs of a dwarven hold are very different to that of a human province. Karak Eight Peaks' nearest neighbours are skaven clans and Greenskin tribes. They're in great need of a little dose of Mathilde brand destruction.

This is why I actually would be willing to spend a decent amount of Favours on a decent dwarven weapon. I don't know what Kragg would 'charge' for his S10 rune, but with it so many sabotage tactics open up. You don't need bombs at that poiny. Combine it with the Night Prowler's face of the coin and she'd be incredibly effective. Add on Substance of Shadow to avoid collateral damage...

The kinds of things that come from the combination of abilities and artifacts are very unusual and very hard to replicate. Now Karak Eight Peaks is part of the gyrocopter network, Mathilde's speed, as she's just seen, is largely redundant. That was all based on just one mastered spell. Sabotage is helped by that spell, but her other capabilities are much more appropriate for more aggressive action.
Yeah, we're right next to Black Crag. Keeping an eye on it and disrupting it if we can is absolutely necessary. Plus, all that doubles as prep work for the next stage of the reconquest.

We wouldn't we putting a normal shrine on it. It'd be a tavern, a gambling house or a similar activity that Ranald approves of. Ranald's iconography would be hidden in plain sight and his worship would be doing what Ranald loves.

It's a bit like a noble owning a stable. The noble spends as much time as she likes on the stables whether that's no time at all, just time using the horses to ride to places, or spending lots of time and affection on them.

In our case Mathilde would be the noble who owns the dinosaur eggs. We can gain credit for research performed on them, use them as warbeasts or trade them for valuable favor with the Imperial College/Imperial Zoo/Important Noble.
We might only ever spend an action to trade them for a pegasus or spend no time on them at all and just give them to the Amber college for whatever favor they feel like giving us.

Besides we want the Amber Wizards to stick around for a number of reasons and if they are we may as well have them hatch the eggs and profit from their work.
Ah, no, in order to get said dino-stable, you need to spend either gold, time, Amber favors, or all three, because Mathilde totally does not have the skills to build the right place to hatch, grow, stable dinos, then she does not have the skills to hatch, grow, and train said dinos.

Therefore, we will be spending favors to have Ambers to stay in the area of where we are going to have dino being stabled, learn the right way to hatch them, grow them, and train them. Said Ambers probably would share their own findings to the Amber not-College.
EDIT: Possible just rolls for some of this instead of favors, in retrospect. /EDIT

Then what? We have a stable of dino chicks, unless Ambers have fast growth... That are probably not faster than the shadowsteed, and then she also has to train dino-riding...

Give them to others to ride? Who are going to ride whatever is hatched? Who would Mathilde have to convince to get those new cavalry to be built, garrisoned, and paid? Who is going to train those riders? Ambers again?

+wiggles hand+
Alot of considerations that really isn't on Mathilde's interest or purview. Probably need a more in-depth planning to be implemented. But Mathilde already has a lot of other things on her plate. At best, I suggest hatching one first to get a clearer idea on what the heck is the dino and what it can do for Mathilde, then go from there.

I'll ok the spiders on the basis of more wizards/better papers + possible spidersilk source. Keep in mind the spiders are meat eaters, so a lot of them are likely to be culled, but even a couple of spinners might give us a trade good to match silk from Ind and beyond.

Why do people see it being so incredibly urgent to claim the shrine that no one else present will want this month not next month?

As a result we'll lose the spider option forever, and probably lose the Amber journeymanlings as well.

I'm not sure that people would be willing to even go inside the defaced shrine of an evil god unless it has very, very obviously been consecrated to one of the gods of orders.

And they'd be absolutely right to make that choice. Temples of evil gods are not healthy places for humans to hang around in, defiled or not.

Hey, taking care of the spiders is currently in third place. Chill.

Can I ask that we build our shiny new shrine after we are immediately settled. With some options fading (Esbern and Seija), I think we should get their help while we can do it easily.

How long can your foothold last?"

"How long can yours?"

Bad. Ass. I love these lines.
Dwarf Reputation: 55
Dwarf Favours: 38
Due to the icy relationship between High King Thorgrim and King Belegar, favours cannot be spent at Karaz-a-Karak
Provide her with/sell her enchanted equipment of their make
No limit; if very large amounts are spent, her rep would give her access to Kragg or Thorek.

First off: Jeeez that's a ton of rep. Way more than I'd ever expect.

So, uh, I'm really worried about what we're even going to spend all those favors on. Before when I thought we'd get 10-20 favors, I was trying to think of ways to convince people to only go for a 5-ish favor Greatsword. Mathilde's greatest weapon is her ability to get her sword in the right place to do stabby things, and anything more killy than an Assassin's Greatsword is for the frontlines of open battlefields where we're not suited for at all. (That's where we should be inducing Battle-Magic level miscasts instead.) But with a ridiculous 38 favors burning in our pocket I'm afraid we're probably going to overspend it quite a bit. (RIP Assasin's Greatsword.)

I guess I might as well be ambitious. My suggestion is that while we should spend some of our dwarf rep, we should save most of it and try to get up to 50 rep stored away. Then, we ask Thorek (or Kragg if we're feeling cheeky) to try and pull off what Teclis did in creating the Colleges. Humans don't even live long enough to learn proper Runesmithing, but a hybrid mono-wind enchantment and smithing method might be very possible. (We'll probably have to wait for Mathilde to learn more Enchanting herself before we know how viable/crazy this kind of idea is, but that's something we were going to do anyways.)

Edit: Whelp, that was foolish. I doubt anyone who read this stupidity even considered the point I was trying to make. /edit

More seriously, there's a lot more ambitious and impactful things we could go for than The Killiest Weapon. Mathilde would like to build a future by doing stuff besides slitting throats, please and thank you.

I've not seen an argument justifying losing the Amber Wizards and letting them go, but as it stands, the thread seems to be at risk for voting to lose the Amber Wizards altogether, without anyone de-facto voting to lose those Wizards justifying their position. Meanwhile, I've seen pages of very persuasive arguments that we should keep our Amber Wizards

I'm approval voting both Amber Wizard options because it seems that the Amber Wizard vote is split. Honestly, I think that giving two options to convince the Amber Wizards to stay basically sharply increased the odds that the thread would unintentionally vote to lose both Amber Wizards through a split vote.

[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.

As for our Tower, I'd suggest Karag Nar. Yes, it's publically visible, but I do think that there is potential that our tower in the future might be the seed of a College Branch that houses Journeymen seeking to gain experience in the South, and an operating base for College Magisters who seek to travel further south or east to work out from. Flying the flag of the College I think helps us when we deal with the Bussars eventually. If we need a more secret lab in the future, the Abyss can always be claimed for later.

[X] Karag Nar penthouse

To add on to this, because we may still lose the Amber WIzards soon, I am also going to approval vote for writing papers on Magical phenomena witnessed in Karak Eight Peaks as it has become a time-sensitive activity. It might also be helpful in drafting out an Intelligence report to send to Regimand and Algard on the progress of the Karak Eight Peaks reconquest and the current disposition of Umgi and Halfing settlers within Karak Eight Peaks. Also, it might entice more journeymen to make their way to Karak Eight Peaks.

[X] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.

Before we explain our money to the Bussars, let's first decide on how we want to use our money. I think it's easiest to justify to the Bussars that we are keeping most of our earnings in Karaz Ankor, since establishing a Grey Order intelligence network and influence down south in Karak Eight Peaks requires funding and investments. Also, since we've indicated that we are going to spend at least five years on campaign down in the Eight Peaks, the money is also useful for us to fund the necessary armaments for our ongoing campaign. In any case, the 25% we are going to likely give to Dame Mathilde's assets and the College are more than enough to settle our biggest current liability, our debt if we so chose. Alternatively, we could invest the money further within the Empire, especially in the Nitrates and Armaments industry, or to expand the potential intelligence asset in the form of the EIC. So, I'm voting for keeping our money in Karaz Ankor.

[X] This is Dawongr Weber's money. The funds will largely go projects within the Karaz Ankor - your tower for one, but also investing in the Undumgi or Ulrikadrin, or purchasing goods made by Dwarven artisans or sold in the markets of Barak Varr.

Claiming the site of Ranald mugging Mork is not urgent. I am sure that our actions to secure influence in Karag Nar among the Undumgi means we have substantial forewarning when it is our last chance to claim that shrine.

[ ] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.

Let's get our house in order and wait for King Kazador and Prince Gotri to get settled, before getting to know both of them. I'd personally combine this option with any renewed missions we might want to take in Karak Eight Peaks, or better yet, prove ourselves to King Kazador and Prince Gotri before getting to know them better.

[ ] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.
[ ] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.
[ ] Join Karak Azul as they raid and scout in force the other portions of the Karak.

Basically, these three options synergize nicely with one another, since we would be working with both royals once we return to front line combat. Once we consolidate in Karak Eight Peaks and prepare to aid in the next phase of the reconquest, I think we should hit these three options all at once.

They're not pokemon to be collected. If the thread can't agree on what they should stick around for, they should be heading off on Lionbird Adventures with the Knights.

Sure but we can do that anywhere, in fact there's probably better places to put that stuff.

I like the idea of sticking a bunch of hidden iconography in the location but it's not exactly a top priority. For a start no one actually wants the place so it's not going anywhere. Second even if someone else for some reason claims it before we do we can still put our hidden iconography there and spread the knowledge of the impressive theft that took place.

We'd be ordering our Amber Wizards to take care of the dinosaurs and train others in dealing with them, that's not going to cost us favors. Presumably Mathilde would be paying for supplies and people's time but considering labor costs that's just a drop in the bucket to our wealth.
Basically if we've got the Amber Wizards around (and we do want them since they give unique opportunities and are 2/5 of our wizard force) we may as well get them to raise some dinosaurs for us if they have the time.

They're not pokemon to be collected. If the thread can't agree on what they should stick around for, they should be heading off on Lionbird Adventures with the Knights.

Two quick points of clarification please:

1. Will we be forewarned if the current turn is our last chance to claim the Shrine of Ranald?
2. Do we still have the option to ask the Amber Mages for help to study our Lustrian Eggs down the line, if the Chiselwands Spider vote wins?

Thanks for delivering this wonderful quest!

Having the Killiest Weapons makes her a fulcrum. Being a Grey Wizard is, I think, being in the right place at the right time. Having the right weapon means that Mathilde can exert maximum force in that critical moment. If she can get, for example, Kragg's personal S10 rune, her destructive potential is immense. If she sneaks into a critical location she could then very quickly do an immense amount of damage. Combined with her belt, at the high end destroying very tough items like screaming bells might be possible. Even excluding that, with a weapon that hits like a cannon she'd go through strategic locations like factories and forges like a knife through hot butter, which she'd usually find it much harder.

And In Warhammer, you get to 'you must be this big to ride' steps of power quite quickly. It's much better to use high end magical weapons as a power level equaliser than it is to take the risk of battle magic.

I would, of course, push the modified Rune of Brotherhood option again, combined with anything else that boosts Mathilde's learning. Mathilde becoming generally more capable makes her better and safer. Once again, it's a lever to accomplish whatever we need. Things like learning other types of weapons, ranging, or whatever else we may want to learn are made so much easier by it.

I wouldn't expect Kragg to be able to manipulate the individual Winds, as Runecraft seems based on doing the opposite. I could see him creating a large scale rune that prevents dhar use within a building which is almost as good. We should also consider that breaking the Altdorf colleges' near monopoly on being able to safely train human apprentices is a serious threat to their long term power that the more farsighted leadership would be very wary of. I'd actually prefer classrooms with large scale adapted Runes of Brotherhood, if that's possible, so we'd have complementary rather than competitive infrastructure. Basically making Karak Eight Peaks the College's graduate school.

I admit, I don't care about having the amber wizards help with the eggs. I'm going to vote to just hand those over to the colleges one way or another, though if the duo remains and is up for it, then i'll count them as the colleges.

I just want to see if halfling spidercav is on the table.

Is ranked choice voting not supported anymore by the tally? Because it would have been a good fit for both this and the last vote. Being able to distinguish between "Okay, I guess" and "Oh god no!" is pretty valuable for surveys like these.

One thing we could do with dwarf favor is get more books. The books may not be of direct use to us but, we could then trade copies of those tomes of knowledge to the colleges for college favor. The last update mentioned how the imperial library was in poor shape from all the chaos of the previous years. This would allow the colleges to get a lot of cred for helping with that.

This would allow us to convert dwarf favors to college favors. We are likely to get more dwarf favors than we know what to do with. While some want to get a super killy weapon we can only get that once. Unless we want to keep wasting dwarf favors on getting more and more crazy weapons.

This way we can spend dwarf favors to get knowledge and then get more college favors which would allow us to get even more books that are more directly useful for our magical pursuits.
