[X] This is Dawongr Weber's money. The funds will largely go projects within the Karaz Ankor - your tower for one, but also investing in the Undumgi or Ulrikadrin, or purchasing goods made by Dwarven artisans or sold in the markets of Barak Varr.
[X] This is tomorrow's problem. Let the money sit in the King's Armoury for now. Once you've decided what your future will be, then you can decide what to do with the money.

Not sure where I want to set up the tower yet.

In terms of actions, get the paper dealt with, retrieve study materials, and visit Anton and Wilhelmina since we'll be in Stirland anyway and it seems really rude to not say hi.

[] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.
[] King Belegar is allowing you to use the King's Armoury. Recover your extant study materials from Stirland and tuck them away safely in there.
[] All this time away has made you miss your friends. Visit Anton and Wilhelmina.

EDIT: I have been convinced that recovering our study materials is less time sensitive:

[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.
[X] Write a series of papers on the magical phenomena you witnessed. Or better yet, get your Journeymanlings to do the actual writing.
[X] There's a growing concentration of royalty here. Get to know King Kazador, and this 'Sky-Thane' Prince Gotri.

Not sure if you missed my question about enchanting/rune work as it got buried many pages back.

What would it take to get books on enchanting/runecrafting from the other colleges of magic, the intent is just to learn about how the other colleges do enchanting/rune work we wouldn't want Mathilde to actually channel the other winds obviously but I feel this would have a lot of intersection with working on the Snek juice.

Does Mathilde think asking about this with the college authorities would be risky?

This sort of thing is common among the Colleges as people try to figure out if X's trick can be done with Y's wind. Cost the same as other Library purchases, per Wind.

[ ] This is Dame Weber's money. The funds will largely go towards investment in Stirland - possibly your fief, possibly the EIC, possibly investing elsewhere within the province.
[ ] This is Magister Weber's money. Make no attempt to push the funds through any of the available loopholes and spend it all in plain sight of the College. You would be beholden to spend it on ways at least nominally good for the Empire, and soon.

I assume mixing and matching will piss off the college?
We've been given these loopholes don't demand another.

Looking at relative urgencies, grabbing the shrine site seems pretty unimportant right now. It seems unlikely anyone else will be comfortable setting up shop in the temple of an evil god, so should stay unoccupied.

One thing we should seriously consider though is the fact that we know that each peak has an in progress plot, and we've only stymied two of them. Mathilde is by far the best person to deal with this, so we need to take some options related to internal security to set the precedent. It's not perfect, but the spider option does this as well as keeps the Amber Wizards here.

On the subject of spiders, I doubt we can truly ally with them, but I can see a non-aggression pact an an agreement for them to relocate to eat goblins elsewhere.

I'm pretty sure that BoneyM confirmed we'd be visiting them either way if we took a Stirling option, the only question is for how long. We've a job to do, and we don't yet have time to take weeks off.

Not a hundred percent certain on the tower location, but I'd prefer to not be literally over a bottomless pit that hasn't been fully explored even before the Dwarves were driven out, and I want to be at least a little bit open. I favor the Lhune peak option.

I can be convinced to vote for other things, but I'm pretty set on making those papers before it's too late and meeting the royalty.

We are going to be spending a ton of money here soon anyway, and if we need to we can spend whatever money is leftover on material goods.

[X] The Grand Abyss

While there are almost certainly more reasonable choices, this one is far too much fun to pass up on.

Let's try to take advantage of our minions while we have the chance, shall we?

Hm. So it just occurred to me that if all of K8P is retaken Durin through simply being one of the more significant expedition leaders will give his children, his children's children a solid basis for why Mount Silverspear should be next.

This would also make for a near long-term goal as well.

@BoneyM regarding the sun being magical/weird I couldn't find anything saying that it is. Most information on the warhammer solar system seems to come from a novel called The Burning Shore, here is a wiki page with planet names and relative positions and a fan rpg supplement that expands on those and the astrology/constellations chapter form the WHFRP 2E Companion.

This sure is a rabbithole. Thanks for the info, I'll dig through these for anything interesting/useful.

Huh, that might be something interesting to look at later. Would we need a relevant trait to try to reverse engineer a spell or would just the research materials work?

Definitely relevant trait.

Yeah, once you've announced an intention for your money, not following through would draw attention and disapproval.

[X] Claim the site where Ranald mugged Mork and build a shrine to Ranald there.

Changing my vote so our tower is in the temple with the shrine.

Let Mathilde move into a dwarf hold and live there
If you promise to refrain from spellcasting inside the Hold, and would be willing to live in the bunkhouses, your rep would be enough.
  • While conducting magical research?
Four points, and you'd have to work out a way to have a laboratory far from the populated parts of the hold

So is this something we need to keep in mind/worry about as far as location?

I'd personally prefer Black Crag. If we can take it, we control all of Death Pass, further boosting trade. Plus taking out the greatest stronghold of greenskins in the World's Edge mountains. Taking it and Iron Rock are also going to be prerequisites for actually turning the Border Princes into anything resembling a stable realm.

introduced with the subtlety of a throne brick to King Kazador's daughter
I know this was an autocorrect, but I liked the implication that Dwarven throne bricks are very blatantly bricks for thrones. :V
Karak Norn is selling us war machines on credit.
Belgar Stewardship ++ King.
...though not the equivalent of a smooth Dawi Diplomat, it seems.
You know better than to try to dissuade him, but you make a mental note to advise Belegar to send to Karak Kadrin for one of their Barazuls to hopefully mitigate such wastefulness in the future.
Have we mentioned this off camera yet, @BoneyM ?
[the Halflings] they are impressed by and a little scared of her.
Always struck me as sensible types.
[At the East Gates] Belegar refurls the map. "Drink deep and rest well this night, for there's no telling when next we'll see a semblance of peace. Tomorrow, we march on the East Gate."
NARRATOR: "It was three days."
