[X] This is Dawongr Weber's money. The funds will largely go projects within the Karaz Ankor - your tower for one, but also investing in the Undumgi or Ulrikadrin, or purchasing goods made by Dwarven artisans or sold in the markets of Barak Varr.
[X] Scout the rest of the Eight Peaks, to find out what other horrors are waiting out there.
This suggests a future assisting Karak Eight Peaks with its reconquest, as a Spymaster focused on threats within the Karak.

[X] Convince Esbern and Seija to stay long enough to deal with the spiders in the Chiselwards.

"Just" taking entire K8P probably going to be enough. If not that, K8P and Black Krag.

So did I. Not too much, and not in terms of direct Empire Building, but with K8P retaken and Badlands being vastly safer because of it, Border Princes are bound to crawl out of their "total shithole' status step by step.

One way or another, for benefits of Empire and K8P we must ensure that whoever ends up dominating the region is a sane individual willing to cooperate with major good-aligned forces of the region.

...Better ask Anton if he would like to run a country.
The leader is the most important part, IMO. We'd be using the authority of our god, a god of protection against unjust rule, to raise someone to power over a population that has been repeatedly and devastatingly betrayed by their own leaders. To grant that to a leader who we aren't very sure of and who is not already deeply invested in the area would be simply wrong, and by my own metric that disqualifies Mathilde, who has too many commitments.

My only two ideas on this are 1)root around the area for the best people we can find before we go rampaging across the countryside, or 2)go on a recruitment drive for apprentices across the area while we are acting as mayor, see if any of them fit the bill.

Inspired by the mention of the grudge-focused history library in the update I am thinking of spending several dwarf favors asking dwarfs to go and share knowledge with the Grey College (maybe some other Colleges too) about stuff from mathematics to magical enchantment to mining and history, laundering some of Mathilde's dwarf favor into college favor, while also improving the lot of the colleges and the Empire at large, and maybe down the line it'll encourage more journeymen in turn to go see Karak Eight Peaks in the future.

All in a spirit of jolly cooperation.
This is certainly something we could do- after all, we have prices for dwarf instruction on the organizational level. The problem as I see it is that Mathilde doesn't have a thorough grasp of the relative knowledge bases of the Grey College and Karaz Ankor. She's not a particularly scholarly individual as Magisters go, after all, and that's reflected in our understanding as well. For example, maybe the Colleges already have all dwarf math and it's just only taught to people who take a half-dozen math-focused electives; we never had time for that.

So any kind of instruction like this would need to start with an exchange of experts feeling out each others' knowledge bases. This wouldn't be an issue, except that the Grey College are one of the most paranoid and secretive of all human organizations- and they still do not manage to be as paranoid and secretive regarding their collected expertise as the typical dwarf.

This is thus probably a larger and less convenient project than anyone involved would wish it to be. That doesn't mean it lacks value, but making it actually happen will likely be... rough.

Why not just give the eggs for the Amber College? Too busy.
Primarily because we won't know if that is our best use of them and won't get the most out of it before they hatch, we just don't realy know what is in the eggs, so we should decide what to do after we learn that. also we can use the amberlings for other stuff.

Also why are so many people are rushing to grab our stuff ? Why wast the limited time oportunities when our stuff is still safe there and we can gra it later ?

I am really all for just giving up the eggs, honestly. In our hyper-dense schedule, rising five not-Giant Monster Tier dinos is just too much. Ambers will do just fine rising them.

I just had a thought, a mental image of a possible future.

Mathilde begins work leading a takeover of the Border Princes with the help of trusted individuals who're available to help: Anton, Asarnil, faithful of Ranald, mercenaries of good reputation, and locals who are just plain tired of the infighting. Somewhere along the way, Mathilde gets stuck in against a serious threat. Perhaps the vampires of the region form a coalition against her advance, or her campaign stumbles across the Skaven city of Fester Spike. In any event, she sends word out that she needs help against this dark forces.

What sort of answer might we expect from the dwarves, were such to occur?

Here we have the Border Princes. It's a poor land with low soil fertility and is home to no less than three goblin tribes and two orc tribes. Despite that, it's still a ripe land for conquest because of its geopolitical position.

The wealthy city of Barak Varr is at its centre, it borders three other dwarf holds, of which Karaz-a-Karak itself is one of them, and it has the newly resurgent Karak Eight Peaks close by. Five dwarf holds, two of which are the wealthiest and one of which may soon join them in similar status. To the north is the Empire of Man, to the north-west Bretonnia, to the west Tilea, to the south-west Araby, and to the east the highly lucrative Ind and Cathay. If it were to join the Empire, it would be resource-poor but a massive nexus of trade, the Marienburg/Wastelands of the south. (Though the Border Princes do have plentiful forests in the north, which would let the province make a lot of money from selling lumber to Barak Varr, Karak Eight Peaks, and possibly Karaz-a-Karak.)

Resistance from the human populations would be negligible, or annoying but fruitless at worst. If a serious expedition to conquer the Border Princes were to be mounted, Barak Varr would have reason to spend its ludicrous wealth hiring mercenary armies to exterminate the greenskins, who would otherwise bounce back without a strong occupying force to keep them down. The rich south of the Empire would get a substantial buffer zone from greenskin invasion, providing us with support from those southern provinces. The dwarfs would likely provide military aid with the promise of a safer, more prosperous region and the striking out of many Grudges.

Taking the Border Princes is possible and would be very profitable for the Empire and the Karaz Ankor. Doubtless there would be challenges in conquering the region, but they're not insurmountable.

Our college favor seems to cover the colleges as a whole and I see no reason to to be limited to the grey college. That said, we should probably save thoughts of that for until we have the time to debrief the grey college and get a better idea on what we intend to do.

Yes there's no spy mistress activities in this but they're all one time activities to prepare for the future.

The way I see it, the mysterious lizard eggs (suspected cold ones) are just a future Amber College rep.
With all these cool and important options available, it would be utterly underwhelming for that to win.

Also, if people are actually serious about potentially becoming Belegar's intrigue advisor and/or helping him reconquer Eight Peaks, an option or two that helps with that wouldn't be amiss...

On the one hand, I love Belegar and Mathilde's friendship and don't want it to turn romantic, not really.

On the other hand, I want to marry Belegar. And short of gaining the ability to jump into the story and Belegar being bisexual, I don't see it happening.

Oh well. I guess I'll just vote:

Dawi Goraki, the Tricky Dwarfs?
Gor - Wild Beast
Ak - Suffix of an Abstract Concept
I - Suffix of a Person, Profession, or Race

Gorak, the word for great cunning or uncanny, should be thought of less as the cunning of an innovator and more the cunning of an Amber Mage. Feral, unpredictable for wildness, and unseemly in the eyes of dwarves. Pretty sure Goraki would be the dwarven term for Beastmen, thinking on it.

@BoneyM for Dwarf favour, nipping the Rogue Idol in the bud still seems to be missing from the main update, and as a possible addition there's souring the goblin/skaven alliance in Karag Lhune - can't remember if the Master Moulder was proven murdered as well, but considering the circumstances he should have died.

Voting.

[X] Karag Nar penthouse

Honestly not sure of real mechanical benefits here, I'd prefer our experiments take place in our secret Ranald Shrine below for security and possible bonus. Still, it might make a good office and source/sign of prestige.
