The body is the priority, if any petty fiend is going to posses it, it's going to be our petty fiend.

You could yes, but that is another 9th level spell you are using.

Personally causing the sultan to expend enough divine power to retrieve his soul from the cloak would be a win on it's own. Even if he could do it blind.
Something a real god would have difficulty with.

Is the book really any safer? The only difference in the binding is that the book leaves the soul in timeless stasis. That doesn't seem like the kind of thing that'd slow down anyone strong enough to remotely steal a trapped soul.

Doesn't Mind Blank prevent soul-calling? That's the problem we've got with the petty Asura in spite of having the corpse of its Asurendra master and having access to its name.
Just put the book in Viserys' cloak and it will always be under Mind Blank.

A salient enough point. How about putting it in a lead box @Deliste? Even he shouldn't be able to get it back if he can't find it.
Unless @DragonParadox would like to out this particular concern to bed...?

The point was to get intel quickly. I want to know what the Efreeti are after and how they planned to take it. The Valyrian Steel Spikes was just an educated guess on our part.
The inside of Viserys' cloak is safe from anything short of direct divine intervention and maybe even that.
That body has a mind blank. Can we even summon someone wearing one of those?
The body isn't a threat right now, it's additional profit. Chasing it is risking the loss of some or all of our current winnings. That's a bad bet, even though that loot is valuable.
I'm sure we can make it up by having our agents in the CoB raid his private supply caches or something.

Mindblank protects against Mind affecting spells and effects ass well as divination spells and effects. Summoning a creature with its true name is neither of those things so I dont see why not?

A VERY inefficient way to get that information.
Use a divination. I don't want to sit on our butt paging through what the efreeti had for breakfast this morning when were in the middle of a death zone.
Edit: your not summoning the body like that. You might not even be able to summon the fiend out of a vessel.

-[X] Ask Malarys and Lya to quickly begin coordinating with the Shaitan ship captains to bring the Efreeti vessels under control, performing what damage control they can and readying them to Plane Shift. If they have a secure berth we can temporarily transport the ships to on the Plane of Earth, ask them to Plane Shift them there so that we can sort through them more thoroughly without the threat of reinforcements arriving or the apporaching ash storm. If a location is not available, we will instead transport them to the Plane of Air for now.
--[X] While the others arrange our departure, Viserys will briefly visit each ship and use a Miracle spell to free the slaves on board, first exhausting his 8th level spell slots via Versatile Spellcasting before using 9th level slots. Before he begins freeing them, he will first Blood Wish a Mage's Decree spell, telling everyone to lay down their arms and surrender once their collars are removed.
--[X] Freed slaves will be given an opportunity to join us or the Shaitan after we are safely away from Valyria. Ships to damaged to travel on their own will be Plane Shifted by Viserys, should it prove necessary.

@DragonParadox we may need a ruling on this one. Is it possible to summon a possessed body if we know the true name of the devil inhabiting it? Or would that just rip the soul out of the body and create a new chassis for the creature to be in?
