coop > compe
end of story.

Pretty sure the cooperative hunt still has no arts, btw. It isn't explicitly spelled out in the option, but I believe the first choice established it as a blanket rather than specific condition.

We'll see, I suppose.

Co op is better i think, not only because it might get us closer to princess Mononoke, but also because it has less changes of us blowing it up.
Play it safe for now, we lack social skills (note i saidk skills, not arts) to really go social games so try for small improvements through our strong points until w have a change to get better at basics.

Oh hey, let's pick an event for social experience.... and then promptly ignore the social part of it. Urgh.

[X] A competitive hunt. No one will be using arts of course, as it would be unsporting. More opportunity to build bonds, but competition may breed resentment…

Also, not a fan of killing cunning beasts, and Ling Qi kind of sucks compared to the better people there.

What is not social about working together?

More social work and a chance to see how we stack up compared to others.

I'm a rather new reader here, and I caught up just now.
Can someone summarize why you guys voted to join CRX? I know in story it was something quite pragmatic, but I kinda don't really buy that as the reason why the readers would join her.
I mean, we've got the boundless arrogance of knowing that no matter how bad our choices are, she probably won't get fucked over like any other peon since she's the MC.

Also, bet none of you fellas saw this political nonsense coming.

Edit: Changed my vote

A lot of people don't tend to find hunting prey that is a minimum of 4-5 cultivation stages above them relaxing. For some reason the fear of potential instant death if you're spotted first tends to cause some people to want to talk less. Can't imagine why.
I doubt competitive hunting would cause us to have much discourse either.
And social is not the same as talking.

Speaking as someone who wasn't there during the Cai vote, I personally would've voted for Cai because aside from having more political influence over events, a storyline where a disillusioned thief following an idealist administrator who's big on justice around just interests me.

As someone who read through the discussion long ago, I can also personally attest that pragmatism had something to do with people voting as well (material/political power, security for family & stuff, solid position).

It's good to know that no matter how many times this comes up there will always be another go.

How about this, before people start telling you why they voted one way or the other, you just look it up in the old thread. That way you can find out the actual reasoning at the time, instead of what people think they voted for, way back when.

Also, it was blatantly obvious that CRX would require politics. I have no idea why you would think differently.

Cai route does have politics literally written all over it compared to the other choices.

Though generally avoiding politics is a no-go no matter what route you're on (or at least, the choices presented at the time)

Well, one appeal of the Gu Tai route was that being out there, scrabbling in the sand meant that you weren't going to be all that affected by politics. As CRX said, too much of Golden Fields is tied up in fighting their own land so they don't make the best allies as they can't leave their province much. On the other hand, living in a blasted wasteland you need to be green to survive in and still need the regular cleanse from is a great defense.

Too bad it came with a package of an arranged marriage (even if Gu Tai was cool)

Anyways I was speaking in terms of a complete lack of politics rather than being less affected by it. I just happened to remember that was one of the arguments in the Cai vote.

Ling Qi has always been able to handle the crowd not liking her. Much more interested in getting intel on the political landscape and establishing a rapport with some of the bigger players.

The part where Ling Qi believes it's not social. The increased difficulty is explicitly, in the vote itself, making it so that it won't be a social action but rather a "show how good Ling Qi is".

In a hunting party with a Green 6 leader, and with the current Ling Qi being at best mediocre at support or hunting, the "we can show off" part will only go well if we are really, really lucky.
