-[X] Malarys hits the General with a Quickened Targeted Greater Dispel Magic spell.

-[X] Lya targets the General with a Chains of Light spell.
-[X] Viserys casts a Quickened Searing Agonizing Elemental Fire Darts spell at the General using the Blackened Rod, then target him and the Serpent Constructs with a Searing Firebrand spell.

Plan updated. Do y'all think we should send Richard against the General and leave the Constructs to the Elementals for now?
No.

With the exotic Martial Disciplines the General is almost certainly more mobile than Richard. Better have him fight the golems while we shoot the bastard.

I bet he can conjure up more move actions at need.

If hes an initiator using riven hourglass for extra actions then hes probably also using veiled moon for teleports, watch for being able to force people incorporeal.

Part MMCMLXIII: Song of Broken Moments
Song of Broken Moments

Eleventh Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC

Malarys' hand still drips blood around the ancient seal of Balerion he had made his own, but his motions are no less certain for it, nor the magic he weaves less potent. Arcane lights flare where the power of Valyria meets ancient ophidian craft and washes it away... most of it at least, you can still see a trio of wards and blessings clinging to the puppet but he no longer has the power to flicker from place to place with a thought. Yet if the being crafted in General Teassh's semblance knows fear he does not show it.

He all but dances between the chains that Dany sets to trip him, though even his unearthly skill is not enough to fully escape the spear of ice your sister flings to shatter upon his breastplate, the chill sinking deep into his bones. To that ice you add fire, a fiery hale that strikes him without erring, boiling off the ice and the flesh beneath.

The scream of tearing metal fills the air as Ser Richard and the elementals between them tear asunder one of the three siege constructs, though at the cost of one of the conjured spirits being reduced to rubble.

"Why do you seek to see our legacy flayed and twitching for your amusement?" the puppet asks over the din, voice as much within your mind as without. You had expected madness scraping against your senses or the gaping hunger that the servants of the void so often show. Instead the thoughts are subdued, sorrowful.... lost. "Let us die in peace and be forgotten."

With these words he charges towards Malarys, blades at the ready, ignoring the flailing of an elemental that tries to strike him...

When the enemy is a scant few paces away a corona of healing light rises from Vee's hand, restoring Malarys in full, and causing the enemy to turn his attention upon her with a single almost gentle touch pushing her back or through some twisting nether-realm. Elsewhen, not elsewhere, you understand instinctively, though from the look of sheer determination on Vee's face you suspect she will not be lost long.

Malarys is fully healed

Vee is Temporally Banished for 1 round

Again you hear the sickening sound of metal scraping bone as the black daggers sink deep into Malarys' flesh, though not so deep nor so swift as in that first frenzied assault, yet the mage priest is also without any wards to soften the blows. Chains of light erupt among the stone as Lya adds her own trap to the cacophony of light and sound. Alas that this snare too he slips as he had Dany's chains.

Malarys tales 56 Damage

Yet now the enemy is among you ready to be struck, the first to take the chance is the caretaker, trying not to bite or constrict as most serpents would but instead lashing out as though its whole body were a weighted rod with which to pummel the foe, the motion so unexpected that it passes the general's near-perfect guard and even gives Vrath a chance to strike.

The scavenged sword barely manages to graze the foe, though to your surprise he turns to speak to the assassin. You do not hear what the accursed warrior wishes to pass to his descendant, but you can make a fair guess from the answer uttered for all to hear. "I would sooner live with glory and feast upon your corpse!"

Malarys has other plans than the making of corpses. Through a hacking cough he utters a single word that is more than sound: "Kneel!" So do the knees the foe fall before the wounded sorcerer, and with a wish you conjure chains of crimson light to bind him further.

What do you do?

OOC: I know it's Power Word Stun not Power Word Kneel, but stun just does not sound as impressive and mechanically kneeling there and not attacking is the same thing. Also I took some liberties with the order of spells like Lya's Chains of Light once I saw that it would fail because moving it more towards the middle of the update after the general had banished Vee made the fight flow much better.

1. So one of the war machines is destroyed, but two are still operational if still hostile?
2. The general is currently on his knees... Can he be compelled via some of the ooze control spells and interrogated on the spot?
3. Is there any trace of the general's soul in this ooze?
4. Now that the battle is slowed down, what do we see in the armory?

@Goldfish, it'd be great if we can get this guy captured. To keep him from being silenced prematurely we can try to bottle him and stick him in the anti-god box.

Also, two out of three war machines is still a great haul. :p

@DragonParadox, would Oblivion be able to "Destroy its minion as a Free Action" if it's bottled and effectively put in stasis and/or dropped into ourr cloak?

Also, we are kinda getting low on spells now :/

No, everyone is still quite well stocked with spells. Viserys and Vee are spell dispensers, Lya isn't far behind, and I've been careful with Dany and Malarys' spells.

Very nice fight, DP. I made a few edits to the chapter.

Is there a reason the General focused on Malarys? Is it because he looks to be the oldest among our group, at least among the humans? Or was it because he is the most powerful Divine spellcaster, and the General inherited the Oblivion's disdain for the Divine?

  1. Yes, still hostile
  2. He is not an ooze he's a native outsider per the Servants of entropy rule of the oblivion
  3. No way to tell just looking at him
  4. The armory contains three skymetal items on daises, a horacalum scimitar, an inubryx shield and an ornate Djezet mace. In addition to that it contains several rows of what look to be more common weapons and armor (for a high magic empire) and what look to be construct attachments for lack of a better term

Also, @egoo, all of our spellcasters are very well stocked with spell scrolls now, not just Lya and Viserys.

They're also packing quite a bit of useful Alchemical stuff. Viserys even has three of these in his cloak for emergencies;
Explosive Bomb: 20d6 Piercing & Bludgeoning damage in a 40 foot (12 m) blast radius (DC 20 Reflex save for half damage), 5d6 Piercing damage (DC 15 Reflex save for half damage) in an area between 40 (12 m) and 80 (24.25 m) feet from the blast, 1d6 Piercing damage (DC 12 Reflex save to avoid damage) in an area between 80 (24.25 m) and 120 feet (36.5 m) from the blast. Weight: 25 pounds / 11.25 kg

Not specifically, though it can communicate with its servants as a free action

The latter, he is the strongest divine caster bar Dany and Dany is weird enough to throw him off

If actual gods are thwarted by the anti-god box, this will be too.
Like I said before (I think I did, anyway) - if it can delete the servant in the moment it takes us to bottle/put it in cloak, it's not really worth it - as it'll likely also delete all loot on the servant.
And-
It's certainly stronger that the stasis, but Viserys is unsure if it's stronger than his artifact cloak.
And just like that, we are for a roll on whether it reacts quick enough to destroy the servant inside the bottle before it is put in the cloak.

We could just use Celerity and do it before it has a chance to properly react.
as it'll likely also delete all loot on the servant.
I'm not sure where this assumption is coming from, though. If a servant is deleted, there's nothing that says the loot goes with it.
