"Not the most amazing reward" - well, I guess we'll agree to disagree. Sand Shaper is an amazing PrC, and I was honestly expecting you to hide it behind a whole chain of prerequisite research (the Drift Magic feat seems necessary for example - or perhaps Earth Spell?).

I thought about doing that, and if you guys had researched it earlier I might have done it, but as it another research chain for a PrC that would get little screentime anyway felt like it would be forgotten again thus making it a narrative dead end.

You say that, but I intend to abuse the "instant construction of very thing but very dense sand walls that block LoS" feature of the class :D
Or at least make a new mageling Sorcerer build that will aim to take Sand Shaper at level 6, thereby losing level 3 spells but gaining a whole pile of spells known.

That's fine, it's not like you don't have other quick construction options too.

I think by "quick" Talon is referencing the strangely written rules that allow, well...

Item size DC
1 cu. ft. or less —5
1.1—2.0 cu. ft. 0
2.1—4.0 cu. ft. 5
4.1—8.0 cu. ft. 10
8.1—12.0 cu. ft. 15
12.1—16.0 cu. ft. 20
16.1—24.0 cu. ft. 25
24.1—30.0 cu. ft. 30

Item Complexity Modifier
Fine details +2
Functioning tool +2
Functioning armor/weapon +5
Multiple parts +5
Masterwork version +10
Moving parts +10

Each attempt to create an item requires a number of minutes equal to the DC.

So you could make a two inch thick, 6 square foot barrier 5 minutes ago.

:rofl::lol:rofl::lol

Sand Shapers can't build things that last, but they can build temporary items within a certain volume. Amazingly, the small volume that can be shaped instantly is enough to hide behind if shaped right.

They still die to melee and fireballs of course, but it's a great trick!

I just edited my corrected version of the research report, @DragonParadox, so that it's in a spoiler box rather than in a quote. Wasn't thinking about the formatting you would have to redo when I originally posted it.

I wouldn't do retroactive bullshit, because there lies the path to stupidity. I'd just use the "instant build" function when the DC is 0.

@TalonofAnathrax, I'm looking forward to Scholarium Sand-Shapers who cut their teeth on beach sand, rather than that of a desert wasteland.

Imagine the epic sand castles they could create.

Both options are currently tied for votes. Each will happen, we're just deciding which happens first.

Take your pick.

Guys the rumour post is late, it's information we should know because other people know it.

People such as Lord Tarth, we need to know what he's heard and potential perceptions of our actions before we go into a diplomatic situation.

[X] Goldfish

Instead of making herself dangerous, she made herself unsummonable? Alright, we'll find her eventually through pursuing Siduri's quest for vengeance.

So since it looks like you guys want a reaction, who would you prefer? I'm thinking Kevan Lannister, he is one of the more clear thinking people on the Small Council.
Kevan would be great. Maybe format it like he's compiling a message to send to Tywin? That could incorporate the rumor post into the interlude.

I think I've found the gateway spell which leads young mages down the path of Diabolism.

It seems virtually harmless, just a quick and easy method of annoying a rival, rejected suitor, sibling, etc. One that cannot be traced back to you, yet can linger for days, then renewed just as easily.

Then before you know it, you're Summoning Pit Fiends through the sacrifice newborn infants and virgin nuns... :p

Seriously, though, Bedevil would be a really easy way to mess with someone.
