That's your opinion not everyones, some of us like this kind of update, you already got DP to wrap it up early, don't complain about those of us who like this, at least getting a little of it.

Sorry if I'm a little snappish, but these kind of things are amongst my favorites, and they often get decided against as wastes of time.
If I'm directly quoted you're not stopping me from responding with my opinion.

I'm not trying to stop you from expressing your opinion, or at least I didn't mean to, I meant to ask you to say it as if it was your opinion, instead of saying it as a fact.

Basically you said that it was a waste of time, instead of saying that you considered it a waste of time, by saying it as a fact instead of an opinion, you present it as if everyone agree with you that it's a waste of time.

It should be obvious to everyone that I speak for myself. I'm not adjusting my language over this.

Well when DP promised to wrap it up, he sounded more or less, as if he was taking your opinion as at least the majority's opinion, you were pretty much the only one expressing a want to wrap it up, but yet DP decided to wrap it up, so it at least seemed to me, like he took you as being representative for the general opinion.

It was much simper than that. I agreed with Duesal about this not being the best way to spend IC screen time.

  • [X] Accept Lilly's offer to return with her to the Dragon Claws' camp, then ask to speak with her father.
-[X] Lilly is young and naive, so not necessarily the best source of information of the Dragon's Claws. Her father may be of more help. Pick his brain using the full weight of our social skills, along with a Brain Spider spell if we believe it warranted, in order to confirm Lilly's information and to learn anything else relevant to the situation. If possible, try to speak with others among the camp as well, especially whoever seems to be the leader.
--[X] After further investigation, if you believe the Dragon's Claws would be willing to relocate, or at least this camp of them, drop your guise as Dywen and introduce yourself.
---[X] If the Dragon's Claws number merely 300 souls, or thereabouts, the simplest solution to Stannis' problem would be to arrange their relocation to the Deep or elsewhere in our realm. Those who wish to fight can join the Legion, but it is by no means required. There is ample opportunity for them to all lead peaceful and productive lives without ever again resorting to violence.
----[X] Those who do not wish to relocate will be left for Stannis' men to find at the direction of our False Raven scouts.

Part MMCMXXXIV: Sheathing Claws
Sheathing Claws

Eighth Day of the Tenth Month 293 AC

As evening begins to fall, darkening the shadows of the Rainwood further, you follow the girl into her camp still under the guise of Dywen, pondering what to do about the people you are about to meet. They seem no worse than the Sons of the Mist or countless former pirates whom you have taken under your banner. Taken one at a time they would likely not even be that different from many of the Lads, but there is no Ser Benjicot Brown or Tom Sevenstreams to keep them honest. One run of bad luck hunting together with a lack of easy targets on the road would be all it would take to give lie to Lilly's words about not attacking villages.

The scent of wood smoke and the glimpse of a green-clad archer hiding among the leaves next to a bend in the game trail cuts off the thought. He does not string his bow but instead draws a skinning knife, likely reasoning that he would not need any more to handle you.

"Who the hell are you, old man, and what are you doing in these woods?" the lookout barks. "And you, girl, are you daft bringing strangers here? He could be anyone!"

"I could indeed be anyone," you speak slowly, though letting go of a little more of Dywen's mannerisms with every syllable. "You should probably be thankful that it was Lilly here I found first and not you all things considered. After all, I've had an invitation to visit this camp for a good long while before she ever gave me one." On the last word you drop your glamour and stand before him garbed in crimson silk and flowing gold, Dark Sister at your side and Aegon's Crown upon your head. "You have been flying my banner."

All the while the girl had been standing deathly still beside you, yet when you turn to look at her you are surprised to hear a shaky laugh from her lips. "I guess all the stories about being kind to strangers in the woods are true, then."

***

The adults in the camp and indeed the five others scattered throughout the Rainwood are less philosophical about the prospect of the distant king whose banner they had been using showing up unannounced in their midst, particularly among those who suspect you might not agree with their notion of dispensing 'justice'. Further questioning confirms dark deeds aplenty, though nothing worse than you had expected.

No one is bold or foolish enough to gainsay you when you command that their latest victims be cut down from the trees they had been hanged in and given a decent burial while Dany sees to their hurts and maladies. When that is done you gather them all together and pose a simple choice—they can come with you to Sorcerer's Deep and try their luck finding work on the island, whether it be in the Legion or elsewhere, or they can wait here awaiting Lord Connington's judgment.

That does earn some arguments. "We were your leal men, Yer Grace!" one calls. "We can still fight fer you!"

"I think you have done quite enough fighting in my name without my knowing," you cut the words off before they can swell any further. "I will grant that you were driven to this by misfortune and the Usurper's folly, but I do not need men hunting taxmen in the Rainwood for their coin chests or waylaying merchants. What I need is soldiers in my army for which you will get paid good silver for every day."

The latter part strikes better a chord than the former, not that you can really blame them for it, but that is the last hurdle in the manner, other than the brief interruption in Scholarum courses as you use the tower to ferry all these people to the Deep.

From the look in Lilly's eye as her father drags her back from the pillar and out into Sorcerer's Deep, you suspect she will be trying her luck in the admissions next month, a far cry from spreading rumors about the other mage who entered your service today.

Gained level 3 Hedge Mage

What do you do next?

[] Awaken the Golem and attempt to seek out 'She Who Brings Enlightenment'

[] Reconvene with your most trusted allies and subjects on the matter of Heaven's Fate—and how much of it should be known to general populace

[] Summon the independent artificer Uniila that has acted against you on many an occasion in revenge for taking her sister captive and bound by powerful magics

[] Visit your uncle again. You have things to talk about, and people to scheme against

[] Begin the expedition to the Southlands

[] Write in

OOC: There we are, a one-update wrap up here with no vote getting bogged down in details.

@Duesal, I'll trust you to fig up that write-up of a vote you did for the golem before.

Here you go:

[] Make your way to the Opaline Vault, examine the Adamantine Golem for any unwelcome surprises from the Efreeti with the help of the Shaitan, and then proceed to Awaken it and do your best to tempt it into your service (full social buffs active of course).
-[] Ideally it could either be an active participant in our armies, or it could serve as a guardian for important locations.

I'm currently puzzling out an ASWAH glossary, and cleaning the house on the side.

Good luck with that, then.

-[X] Have Lya assist with Alter Fortune throughout the Awakening, attempting to ensure that newly-awakened Golem's Intelligence isn't low.
--[X] If the Golem naturally rolls a 14+ Intelligence, use the Alter Fortune attempt to secure a higher Wisdom attribute. If it naturally rolls a 14+ for Intelligence and Wisdom, instead use the Alter Fortune to secure a higher Charisma attribute.

Should we use a maximized awaken construct? Give it an Intelligence of 18?
Awaken Construct is a 9th level spell, for which we bought a scroll. We cannot yet manage Maximize cheese in that manner, thankfully.

[X] egoo

I'm hoping for good results from the Adamantine Golem. Even if it decides to be the most dangerous beet farmer to ever farm beets, that would be an acceptable outcome for me, so long as it doesn't wish to join the Efreeti.

Hm.
Should we try using Alter Fortune, to force rerolls on Int/Wis/Cha for Golem's Awakening?
I think we can do that.
Just so that it isn't a total moron :V

I'd say Lya can use one alter fortune throughout the attempt so you guys have to choose the stat.
Adding having Lya assist, then.
Intelligence seems somewaht most important to me, honestly - being rash and lacking forethought (Wis), or somewhat asocial (Cha), is less problematic than being stupid (Int), in a minion.

[X] egoo
I agree on Int being the more important stat to get high, though if the rolls naturally come out well there (15+) I would say to go down to wisdom as the next most important stat.

I agree with Abyslon, @egoo. If the Golem naturally rolls a good Intelligence attribute, we should use the Alter Fortune attempt for a better Wisdom score, and then on to Charisma if Wisdom turns out well without our intervention.

L'right, changing. A bit too specific and slightly OOC, at this point, but whatever.
