It's not precisely the same, it resembles what the Shaitan are doing, and it can be sorted under a form of slavery, but there's one big difference from almost every other form of slavery, and that's that there's no master, you have superiors in rank of course, but anyone can get a higher rank though hard work, you might in someway be a slave, but you have no owner, all members of the Black Brothers have a vote, so you are a little bit your own master, and a little bit everyone elses master, just like they are a little bit your master.

And this is the big difference, between conventual slavery and the Wall, at the Wall you might be bound, but you don't belong to a person, you belong to a cause, and you are one of the ones who interpret what that cause is, so if you are a slave, then you are at least partly your own master.

So while not fully free, I would say the Wall is closer to freedom, than what the Shaitan do.

We should really pick that amethyst dragons brain. Since shes focused on uplift and magic enhancement. Fields we both expect to make great use of.
