Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

One thing though @Inferno Vulpix

I notice that the rivers in Emerald Seas don't flow directly to the ocean. Where exactly do they lead? And do they connect to the rivers in Thousand Lakes?
They flow... off the map. The perspective I took when making it is that cartographers making a map of the Celestial Empire either don't know or don't care what things are like outside of it except for stuff like 'here there be nomads'. It's not really their business, and also probably hazardous to investigate personally.

So the rivers start in the Emerald Seas and go south out of the Empire, and where they end up is either unknown or irrelevant to a map of the Empire.

Ah shit I just realised the prostitutes are prob shitting bricks. They just left for the sect in order to have a better life. And the first thing that happens? Snow apocalypse

Its well contained. Only blasted the Outer Sect.
Don't be silly, if Ling Qi went cultivation 24/7, she'd be a seething cauldron of greed, not rage. Ji Rong is an angry boy, but Ling Qi is a greedy girl.

Which probably isn't particularly helping Ji Rong actually.
Heaven is of imagination, foresight, and invention. Using it to just break faces would be rather limiting.

Where exactly do they start from? I'm given to understand rivers normally start from mountains and or springs, but from what I can tell, no such feature exists on the map where the rivers start.

It doesn't have to be from mountains, as long as the river's still flowing downhill and aggregates enough rain to have a river-sized flow. The river beginnings in Emerald Seas that don't correspond to mountains could just be starting from land of a generally higher elevation than the southeast of the province.

[X] While you have provided for them, and you visit from time to time, you cannot help but feel that you have neglected your family. Your mother in particular deserves to be respected enough to know more of the goings on your life. You need to take a day and really talk to her.

Fair enough.

So if I'm understanding this correctly, the fact that that spot around the east of Alabaster Sands is the very thing keeping them from being considered an inner province.

IIRC Yrsillar mentioned that qi-based geography and physics based geography don't necessarily have to match at some point. It might very well be that assorted rivers don't start up in mountains and flow to a sea but rather start at a random upwelling of Water qi and end at a concentration of Lake qi or something else weird like that.

Or a tree big enough to have its own weather systems

On a bit of an unrelated note, I think that people are underrating Speed as an attribute. Sure, it might not be very useful in combat, but it is very useful for running away. It's likely we wouldn't have escaped Sun Liling back in the first thread without our Speed being as high as it was. We'll definitely have to do more escaping in the future, especially when we leave the sect.

Thinking about, I am a bit sad Ling Qi didn't finish the discussion with something like "I will bring your concerns to Heiress Cai, Princess Sun.". Probably would have escalated too much though.

-First Years(Weak) - Should still be Red. I'm not sure what they could do other than be the damsels in distress.
-First Years(Strong) - These should be around Mid-Yellow and they can make a difference. Some of these guys got their windfalls. Probably arts. Arts is funny enough, one of the 'cheapest' rewards for the Sect to give out which costs basically nothing to give and they got entire reams of on hand at all times.
-Older Students - "That must be Ling Qi again."
The timing is a bit short for those levels I think. This is week 13 equivalent, and at the time the only yellows were CRX/Meizhen/Liling/Xuan Shi, Kang Zihao.... and then the new ones of Huang Da, Han Jian, Xiulan, Ji Rong, Gan Guangli, Lu Feng (and maybe Ling Qi). Of those, only Kang Zihao was not early yellow as a non-ducal.

[X] The time has come for you to fulfill your promise to Bai Meizhen, and begin 'tutoring' her cousin Bai Xiao Fen. Though you will mostly be acting to gather intelligence on the Outer Sect, you will also be legitimately be tutoring her, and hopefully learning more of the Bai than your reticent friend will say.

Would have liked to have had some time to flex on Ji Rong with Ling Qi's tribulation instead of him catching up immediately. I'm having a hard time imagining him having the same whacky adventures we go on regularly, but I guess constant full-bore cultivation also shows results.

It seems like the way mechanics are going, speed is going to actually be the long distance running number, useful for scouting/small group military action, while reaction/perception or instant transmission/shunpo arts are for direct combat. In other words, we'll need some amount of speed once the barbarians invade, but probably don't need to do much more than toss spare points into it for now. Of course, if we neglect it too much due to thinking that we're going to be dealing with mostly arena fights, we'll run into issues if we get a long distance travel challenge. Additionally, for all we know, the Inter-sect competition will have aspects similar to the first Zhou trial, where it simulates a warzone and we had trouble keeping up with the rest of the Golden Fields due to our low speed.

Speed is still an important stat for any fight that has no limits on the arena space. So, basically, most fights with real enemies.

We don't need to be thinking about speed because we are already on track toward improving it fast.

The big thing is that not only Ling Qi has a lot of movement arts (though less so if we do choose to not go for something like ENM or AFL), to the point that arguably her two best arts are movement arts, but she also is dex-based when it comes to both her defences and a lot of her offence.

Speed is (Dex + Athleticism) + misc, and currently it's:
Speed: (Athletics D, Dexterity B) = C + Unqualified Bonuses: Step 15, PLR 5 = C20
Qualified Bonuses: +5 in low light/darkness (SCS)
We have decided to push back when Dex will be trained, but even then turn 5 it should be something like this:
Speed: (Athletics C, Dexterity B) = C15 + Unqualified Bonuses: Step 25, PLR 20 = B30
Qualified Bonuses: +10 in low light/darkness (SCS)
So, we are going from C20 to B30-A.
If we do choose to improve our Dex sooner rather than later, even if we don't really care about athleticism we'll end up having A speed base easily. However, athleticism is also an 'easy' skill to train, considering it's a PLR keyword, so benefit from moon site.

tl;dr our Speed is going to be really damn high without us actually thinking about it.
Speed is still an important stat for any fight that has no limits on the arena space. So, basically, most fights with real enemies.
Speed doesn't do anything in fights unless you mean for escaping the fight.

So anyway, it seems like we really do need a Fade/Spiritual Avoid art. I'm not sure exactly where we will get it from if we don't take ENM/DLS, since the Cai arts would be better used for filling in our mainstays (I doubt we'll have the ability to replace all our arts).

I think the best plan for us would be to train DLS as a stopgap if we get the chance but otherwise challenge upward as soon as possible (likely after turn 5) to get access to Archive 3 arts. I think we'll be fine in our challenge with our three spirits and ability to select our opponents. Hopefully, the Cai arts will have arrived by then and we can use Archive 3 to fill in gaps, including Spiritual Avoid, and replace our Archive 1 arts.

We should honestly have gone for DLS this turn. I don't think we can squeeze it in before our challenge. It likely won't matter much as long as we don't get screwed over by our spiritual avoid in the challenge, Moon event, or Xuan Shi event though.
