Magical Girl Escalation Taylor (Worm/Nanoha)

[X] Target the Master first. She's the one with the minions and the one who can probably do the most damage immediately.

PRT engagement rules.
Priority target categories, Master, Thinker, Trump.

Can I just tack a

at the front of any plan? There is literally 0 excuse for not doing that at the start of damn near any encounter involving innocent people. If we get a final plan and it doesn't involve separating the targets from the people we're trying to save given this ridiculously useful and simple spell, I reserve my right to call everyone in this thread a moron.

1) You don't know what the unknown cape does and whether he'd get pulled in.
2) You don't know whether the wasps would get pulled in or what they'd do if separated from their Master.

Just a couple of things to keep in mind. But sure, you can tack it on.

I think they are more concerned for the rows of guys chained and kneeling on the floor...

Don't exactly want to leave them alone with a swarm of maddened superwasps or a horribly suprised cape either though...
Well, they have no real reason to think we are protecting innocents, right? It's more likely they are going to assume we are here to tak control of their territory or something like that. On the other hand, if they see as protecting them, well... It's not hard to aim for the civilians to make the hero move where you wish them to be, right?

but would you take all the capes AND the wasps with you? cause you can't protect the people from inside the RF. not to mention that we don't know if there are any other capes in the area.

don't forget, the last time we used RF against Parahuman/non-Parahuman mixed groups, a bunch were left outside and attacked the civilians.

How many wasps are there? If there's less than 5, can't we use ring bind to lock them down? I don't think giant wasps come with enhanced strength, so unless the unknown cape is a brute, none of them should be able to break ring bind.

If there is more than 5...does using cartridges increase the number of ring binds or the duration?

So, some thoughts:

1. I'm afraid to attack the Master first. In my mind, a swarm of giant wasps under enemy control is better than an uncontrollabe swarm. Wasps under the Master's control will concentrate at attacking us and defending the Master and her entourage. Uncontrollabe wasps will probably just attack everybody.

2. If we enter the Unison with Cassiel, we'll have our Telekinesis boosted. Why not use it? We can, for example, make good Darth Vader impression or just throw one of the capes in the window.

  • Loom of Lachesis – She can see the web of possible futures and determine the best course to achieve a set objective. She can now take the decisions of existing mages into account, but she cannot predict new triggers or new mages. For every day she looks forward, she will be unresponsive for one hour and be unable to use this spell for one day. Maximum range is three days.
This is a thing that Cassiel can do. Given we are dealing with a civilization we cannot communicate with and that sees all of us as goddesses, maybe this is warranted.

"How come you haven't gone to Aleph yet?" the other girl asks, blind to your dark thoughts.

You take a moment to think about it, and the answer you come up with surprises you. "Honestly? Because Aleph doesn't really have anything Bet doesn't. We're pretty equal in terms of culture and technology. The other worlds so far have proven to be more interesting.
That's not quite true. On Aleph, there are no endbringers and supers are super-rare so they're all superstars rather than gang leaders. The entire world is much much much more stable. Personally, coming from a hell world like bet I'd think one much closer to our own would be fascinating.
Confession time. The real reason you can't use Solar Wrath or Vista's particle cannon here is because blasting people with massive laser beams when they don't know you're around and have no defense against such attacks doesn't make for a great fight scene.
Pff... It does if you have at least one of them providing a defensive shaker power.
Also, you don't NEED a fight scene to perform a religious revolution. Actually, it'd be actively detrimental, given setting yourself up as gods (visiting, albeit) would be MUCH more effective if you unleashed godly wrath from on high.
The next step would be using storm to wide blast Telepathy and teach a few of them different spells. Healing, flight, shield, maybe a flare blast or blade, they only need 1 and telepathy to call themselves THE CHOSEN.

Flare Blade Reaper. Set yourself up as the god of DEATH. Or justice, but I'm not sure they quite have that concept. Took QUITE a while to develop that one. Gotta figure out how to collectivize and temper retribution first and thats not as easy as it sounds.

[X] Plan: To each their own

I'd say we subdue and find out as much as possible. These men may be criminals... I kind of doubt it but we should consider the possibility.

Even if they are criminals I don't think 'death by horrifying and painful transformation into inhuman monster' is an acceptable punishment.

These capes are arguably worse than the hypothetical criminals they're sentencing.

Keep in mind the time period and language. Typical punishment is to pull your heart out while it's still beating and feed it to the Sun at noon so the dawn will come again tomorrow. And it only gets more interesting from there.

You're making assumptions, just because they have similar structures and a slightly similar language doesn't mean that they have the same practices.

You're also making assumptions in that this is a harsh punishment by the societies standards. Our modern ideas of justice and decorum literally took 5000 years to develop. Early bronze age is in the first thousand years. Hell, just surviving folk lore BS tells worse stories than this.

These ones have zero reason to attack the civilians. They have no idea what our motive is, and given they seem to be ruling a small village with an iron fist it's likely their first instinct would be a power grab.

Also, why would you attack your own worshipers/slaves? Sure the wasps might but that's why they should be pulled in and dealt with first. Tay could just nuke them, problem solved.

And that would negate the "and have no defense against such attacks", then, wouldn't it?
This is a thing that Cassiel can do. Given we are dealing with a civilization we cannot communicate with and that sees all of us as goddesses, maybe this is warranted.
Again, we have a precog with us. Maybe use her? We didn't ask Cassiel to come along, she might as well make herself useful.
In the time it would take for her to look through the future for the most optimal strategy, the Blaster would have shape-shifted basically all the prisoners, at which time it's all a moot point anyway. Missy also isn't willing to wait that long when there are people being hurt and tortured right there in front of her.

And that would negate the "and have no defense against such attacks", then, wouldn't it?
So you're confirming that the unknown is not a brute, shaker or breaker. Thanks!

Real reason for the dismissal is that I don't like doing the stupid thing just because it makes a better scene. "ohs nos the MC is too OP, pls nerf". Why? Why not just have something on hand that makes it difficult? That's how it generally works with superhero content, and that was pretty successful until recent...industry changes.

I'm confirming nothing. Whenever points like this get brought up, I speak in generalities.

Standing back up to your full height, you toss the staff to Missy again and rise into the air. "We have a destination now. How do you feel about leading a religious revolution?"
Missy slams her armored fist into her fleshy palm. "Taylor, you take me on the best field trips ever, you know that?"

Missy is a Best <3 <3 Best Sidekick? Cailleach Best Antihero-foil, Kayleigh Best Friend, Circus Best Minion.... its a hard life having so many Best Girl?s in a group. But this friendship is adorable <3

if she hit either of us with that attack, would it cause permanent changes? While that would give us cause to risk a mutagen treatment,

Makes you wonder if that's intentional.... the timing of fighting such a cape is awfully convenient, with Core-less Missy right here :p
Really, I can't see trying to transform a Unison Device working very well (either it fails, too unfamiliar or too non-biological, or it kills instead) , Taylor can be rebuilt if PS doens't have some innate defense anyways, its common for shapeshifters like Samantha to Trump hostile transformations (why wouldn't she be able to change back) .... Missy the Core-less is perhaps the most vulnerable to such a fate yes?

------------
@Wyrd Plan: To each their own is interesting, but I have concerns....

General combat doctrine is to dislike unknown variables and try to eliminate/control/divine them, yes? I'm not wholly comfortable sending Vista into melee range with a complete unknown cape, even if "range" is wobbly with her. It should be very rare for the same Master (how did we know for sure thats what they are?) to control both insects AND humans right, unless the transformation means they're still human re: the power? I'd tend to think Missy is well equipped with her Shaker and pseudo-Brute tricks to keep the wasps pinned in a corner while she punches out the Master, as those types tend to lack personal defenses. Sam, as I mentioned, seems reasonably likely to do well against the Blaster even besides speed to dodge the beam-lock, and tough enough to deal with any Wasps the Master redirects (being closest) or Blaster creates. And Calamity's versatile options and preference for range seem best equipped for handling whatever an Unknown can throw her way....

[X] Smart Girl Power
-[X] Taylor supports, focusing unknown
--[X] Unison with Cassiel for processing boost
--[X] Ring Bind the Unknown, the Blaster, and what Wasps she can
--[X] Nonlethal flare blast the unknown if Ringbound, otherwise use Telekinesis and Temporal Sludge first then blast
-[X] Samantha rushes the Blaster
--[X] Swat down any wasps as feasible, but disable the blaster first. Whips are good for breaking the arms that aim beams right? Then finish off wasps
-[X] Vista plays with space, focusing Master
--[X] Manipulate space to put the Master in reach of some Brute knockout punches, keep safe with space-warps and Shield
--[X] Try to corral unbound Wasps for Sam/out of your way

A little busy, but hopefully on the side of a flashy and detailed fight scene rather than too many contingencies?

[] Taylor and Cassiel unison, teleport in, immobilize the blaster and the unknown with enhanced Telekinesis, surround the enemy master with Flare Shooters. Taylor could do this on her own, but Vista needs to let off some steam, so:
[X] Taylor and Cassiel unison and immobilize the unknown and the Blaster with enhanced Telekinesis. Let Vista handle the Master, Sam evacuates the prisoners.
