Alternatively, they simply explode. But I would like to test it out outside of battlefield conditions, to at least see what happens. I don't want to try it in the middle of combat.

So funny omake idea that came up in the chat earlier, alas I got no writing chops.
Sparks, after eating Ardat's cookie made with love, dreams that he accidentally activated the Love digimental and became LoveWizardmon, a magical girl powered by love.
He wakes up swearing

After all, Wizardmon can evolve into just about anything(including LadyDevimon and Angewomon apparently), they can work with elemental variants, they got a very flexible data structure. And is already compatible with the Courage(Fire) Digimental for FlaWizardmon.
Why not a Love(Wind) Digimental eh?

(this is entirely in jest)

35th Of Water: Gale Claw, Purification & Tolerance.
[] Pit.

===

Once again you find yourself being carried through the air by a multitude of Ultimates. Something you find to have it's fair share of good and bad aspects. On the one paw it means you don't have to go back down to rookie and feel terrified unnerved by being so high up. However that means as a Gryzmon, having to be carried like this is... well kind of embarrassing to your pride as a martial artist. In order to take your mind off the subject, you begin pondering an oddity that had popped up in the the fight from yesterday.

Gale Claw, the technique which helped my triumph over Chimairamon ... I didn't learn it. Using the move, that power was instinctive. As if I was drawing on something else for that information. And that strange effect, the rot it applied. I remember that effect, Ardat used it on me. But, what does that mean? Am I using some of la-Ardat's power? If so... then how?

As much as your mind tries to come up with an answer, any reason for the oddity ends up eluding you. Fact is, you don't have enough information on the subject to concoct even a halfway decent theory. Anything you might propose now would just be pointless and certainly inaccurate conjecture. In the end you just sigh and push it back for a later date. Perhaps you can research the subject later at a better time.

Eventually MagnaAngemon halts so that the entire group can stop for a rest. After all, if the strikeforce arrived while exhausted it would just be a slaughter in the enemy's favour. You make it a point to seek out Pit in order to eat supper with the Pidmon, it's been a while since the two of you truly *Talked*. Getting his attention proves to be easy, as all it really takes is a beckoning gesture with your paw.

"Friend Verge! I'm so glad you came over! Did you need something?"

"Yes." you nod, sitting down on your haunches. "To talk." Pit grins at your statement, hands rubbing together with eager glee.

"Fantastic! Did you wish to hear of the Lord?" you hastily shake your head in a negative.

"No. I seek to understand something, what did you mean by... purifying enemy digimon?"

"Ah that! I picked the saying up from Imperius MagnaAngemon! He believes that when we delete our foes with holy power, it cleanses the dark corruption from their bodies for their next life! Like how Angemon's power helped me digivolve! It's also supposed to prevent them from coming back as abominable Bakemon like what happened with your…"

Yes? My, what?

You consciously wrestle back the Wrath urging violence and let out another sigh.

Cleansing dark corruption for the next life... Why bother? Being deleted but not coming back as a Bakemon is... it. I wouldn't even know it if I saw Agnimon or Gramps again. I... I doubt they'd remember me. The only ones left, Auger, Thresh, Lunamon... and Gnaw. If he's even still out there. He left Electown before I could meet him again and now he could be anywhere.

Pit fidgets uncomfortably under your sad gaze, his head bowing in sympathy.

"Sorry..."

Fu came back as a Bakemon, and she's still herself... I think. But if she hadn't come back then... oh, I'm holding the conversation up.

"Do not worry about it." You force a smile, allowing the angel to slump in relief. "But there was something else. The words used for your foe. Heathens, pagans, false idols. It leads me to conclude that The Host has a poor opinion on the Sefirot."

"Of course!" Pit declares, puffing out his chest with obvious pride. "They've willingly turned away from the holy creator to worship worldly digimon. It's wrong!"

"... Sparks and I fall into that category."

"*Cough* R-right." Pit mumbles, visually deflating as you cut the wind from his sails. "Well...-" he trails off, clearly thinking of a way to respond that doesn't paint your masters in a bad light. You find yourself holding back a chuckle at his obvious strain, though also feel a tinge of sympathy."-ah! Friend Verge, I remembered something back from Electown! The Host can and does coexist with other religions, even if they're wrong. We, the Lord's chosen were raised up as a force of good for this world! To protect it from dark threats and bring justice to those who practice evil. It is not our goal to enforce our own will upon those living in peace!" He breaks the semi-recited lines off with a gasp for air and flashes you another grin.

That... does not sound bad. However I distrust it, what they taught at the orphanage, it was attempting to raise those learning it up into the view of The Host. Then there's...

"Silphymon, Chackmon and the other warriors of Vortex isle. They called us corrupters, traitors. And they believed it. Why?"

"Well my stalwart comrade That is... huh. I don't know." Pit takes a moment to rub at his chin in confusion. "I thought naught of it beyond righteous fury against their lies. Holsmon accused us of attempting to destroy this world. The Gloaming must be deceiving them somehow!"

Hmm. That, may be it but... I can't fully agree with that. Long ago I decided not to blindly trust the Host. This is a matter where I must find what information they posses.

You open your mouth to continue the conversation, but are cut off as MagnaAngemon begins shouting.

"Soldiers of The Lord! It is time! We fly to end the flock and their false idol!"

Right. We shall continue this discourse at a later date then.

I like that we seem to have forced Pit to think somewhat. That's very good, and it's something we want to continue to do. If you're thinking, then you're less likely to fall to blind zealotry,

35th Of Water: Chackmon's Defeat
"Rainbow Shower!"

You receive less then one tenth of a second's warning before a multi-coloured beam tears through the cloud and strikes MagnaAngemon straight in the chest. The armored angel rocks back with a pained grunt, his grip on your body slipping away.

Ambush! How did they... the others can't-spirits below!

A chain reaction rumbles down the line of Ultimates holding you aloft as they're suddenly forced to try and bear the remaining weight and are found wanting. Flares of pain stab at your sides as chunks of fur are torn free-and then you're falling. Darcmon bellows out a curse, her mount wheeling about to avoid the diving form of a Garudamon. Your compatriots whirl upwards as more enemies appear from above, turning the sky above you into a brawl.

However your attention on that subject is quickly swallowed by a single devastating fact. That you're falling out of the sky. What had once been one of your greatest fears as a rookie is now being turned into stark reality as you tumble down hundreds of feet away from the ground. But you're not a rookie anymore... most of the time anyways.

Now is not the time to panic, I will not cower. I will take action. My journey shall not end.

With a roar of defiance, you splay your limbs out in an attempt to slow down and look at the rapidly growing ground. The sparse vegetation won't be able to provide any sort of cushioning whatsoever, but at least the ground here past the zone border is softer.

Too close for Frame Reinforce. I'll have to... roll. Timing is crucial. I cannot be incapacitated here.

You take a deep breath, watching bit by bit as the time to act draws closer and positioning yourself accordingly. Then, half a moment before impact, you curl up into a ball and-

*Wham*

-impact the ground hard. Momentum forces you through meters of dirt, creating a throbbing ache across your body as the force is evenly dispersed. It takes half a dozen seconds for all of your built up kinetic energy to bleed off, finally allowing your form to halt. You lay there for a few seconds, mentally checking for damages before breathing in releif.

Gorimon. You have my thanks.

Rising back up, you take a look around and find yourself at the end of a very broad and long trench. Obviously the result of your fall and quite impressive in a way given how it carries on for more than a dozen meters.

... I am quite *hefty*, I don't think-

"Snow Bomber!"
Your thoughts are sharply cut off by a sudden cold agony traveling down your lower back. Four separate parts of your belly burst open, as Chackmon's projectiles fully tear their way through your body. A moment later, the Legendary warrior hits the ground in front of you and skids to a stop.

"Checheche. We meet again, traitor for the last time!" he chuckles, lowering his launcher towards your head. "The polar defense force's star member will see that justice is done!" A score of champion's swoop down to hover above him, clearly ready to join in the fight against you.

You glare at the rookie-sized digimon seething at the dishonorable behavior being put on display and grit your teeth together hard enough to feel pain.

Very well! Come! Come and di-

"False idol! By our holy creator, your days of supporting evil shall come to an end!"
A tornado of bright yellow flame whirls into the gathered champions, deleting two of the avians outright and scattering the rest. Chackmon's grin warps into an indignant snarl as he spins around to line up his weapon at Pit. But just as Sparks predicted he can't resist running his mouth.

By the ten, how did he know Chackmon would take the bait?

"Evil?!" The Legendary Warrior shouts, utterly offended by the accusation. "You're the bad guys here! We won't let this world be corrup-" That is as far as he gets into the sentence before four separate pieces of paper dart into the barrels of his weapon. "-huh? What the heck is-"

*Pop*

The small champion is cut off for a second time as smoke erupts from each of the launcher's holes. He blinks once, experimentally pulling the trigger, but all that does is cause his weapon to shake in protest.

"Romeo no!" He screams, dropping down to a knee and screams. "Who did this to you!?"

A familiar weight settles down onto your right shoulder as Sparks emits a baleful chuckle.

"Well jackass, that would be me."

How did he get-wait. And the launcher-what did-

"You-you jerk! What did Romeo ever do to you?!"

"Ah shaddup!"
Sparks grumbles, not showing even a hint of his normal eloquence. "Verge, kick his ass!"

Right. This is battle. Clear heart, focused mind!

The hesitation and sympathy you were feeling towards the frost digimon slide away. Replaced instead by a simmering wrath and clinical analysis. Chackmon rises back up, his eyes glued to your friend and raises his middle finger is some sort of odd gesture. You ignore it, focusing on how best to fight him now.

I do not lack power to hurt him, what I need is speed. Hasten Burst.

You leap free from the trench, mouth already uttering the first line of coding and charge at the Legendary Warrior on all fours. Without the use of his weapon, your opponent goes on the defensive darting back across the ground in an attempt to stay out of your reach. However, your limbs are a lot longer than his and despite his head start, you manage to catch up in three point-eight seconds. With the rather ridiculous height difference between you, attempting to rear up would only be detrimental towards any attempt at hitting him. So you settle for swiping at him from a three-legged stance.

Even with your increased speed, the champion still has no trouble whatsoever weaving out of the way of your attacks. Yet there is a difference.

He darts in under your outstretched arm in a bid to bypass your guard-

There!

-only to be met by your falling elbow. He only barely manages to raise his defunct launcher in time to block the attack. But the hit still sends him skidding backwards, arms shaking in strain.

"No fair! How'd you get so much faster!?"

I gained power from a worthy opponent.

"Mine companion devoured something that 'twas a little spicy."

What? I didn't eat anything spic-Focus. You're close.

"Che. Fine, then let's see you move after this!" Your tiny opponent sprints forward, cartwheels away from another swipe and opens his mouth "Kachikachi-" a familiar white spray of concentrated frost lashes out towards your left fore-paw covering it in ice. And is immediately met with a sudden burst of fire from the wizard on your shoulder. Your war-gauntlet effortlessly shatters the weakened blockage and streaks towards the champion whilst he's in the midst of the second half of his attack. "-Ham-oh crud." his ice-covered fist change course, moving in parallel with his launcher in an energy block.

A solitary silver claw rends the green-metal in twain, then carries through to the ice beyond. The Legendary Warrior screams in pain as his snowy hand is cleaved in twain, then goes tumbling away.

"Not so tough without the use of thine tool are you! Now Verge, let us finish this cretin off!"

"Even if..." your opponent picks himself, up eyes set in angry determination. "Even if Romeo is gone, justice will prevail in the end! I will defeat you villains! On my honor as a member of the Po-"

"Greater Sparkling Thunder!" Azure lightning strikes his head mid-speech, knocking the small digimon's head back. "Aaah. 'twas most satisfying indeed." Chackmon rocks back, the middle of his face bearing a familiar black-tint where Sparks's spell had struck. While there doesn't seem to be any real injury, Chackmon's teeth grind together in abject fury over being sucker-punched. You're stuck between sympathy over Sparks's actions and anger over the *hero's* action. After all, he had no absolutely trouble with doing the same thing to you.

"Kachikachi Kocchin!"
A second, much larger mist explodes from the tiny champion's mouth, but Sparks is ready for it. The one armed Wizardmon sweeps his staff from right to left with a mutter of "Blink Breeze," hitting the mist with a gust of wind and redirecting it up... right into a passing Birdramon. You ignore the sound of it shattering against the ground and focus on following the Legendary Warrior. He uses the cover of his attack to dive towards your blind-spot, but now that Sparks has cleared the air his actions are clear.

And what's more...

"-zero, one, one." Hasten Burst, activates.

You pivot around to meet Chackmon squarely, taking a small bit of pleasure in how his eyes widen in horrified surprise. To his credit, the mon adapts well to the new development, cartwheeling away before your counter-blow can land.

One.

But this time you're quick enough to follow him.

Your other paw sweeps around to intercept the movement. On their own, your three silver blades wouldn't have the needed reach to hit him but...

"Gale Claw!"

Thanks to a certain technique, that's not a problem.

Two.

A blade of wind slices through Chackmon's left elbow, completely severing the thin limb and cutting halfway through his torso. In that same instant the corrosive properties take hold, blasting purple corrosive mist out from the injuries.

Surprisingly instead of falling, he instead struggles through the motion and in doing so gets unfettered access to your left side. Before you can turn, he turns the momentum into a leaping tackle and slams his remaining fist against your side.

Ow.

It hurts... a little bit anyways. But between your fur and sheer mass the punch didn't actually do much.

Three.

"Oh come on!"

"Thunder Cloud!"

A ball of roiling electricity smacks into the airborne digimon, knocking him back out of the ultra-close engagement zone. You lumber after the Legendary Warrior a second time, not willing to let him have a chance to make distance. You only have two seconds left after all.

"Mach Jab Combo!" Your left paw lashes out in a series of *weak* punches, golden spikes punching a series of shallow holes into the small digimon's flesh. He shrieks in desperate fear and pushes off the ground with one hand, rolling out from your barrage and springing onto his feet.

Or at least that's what he tries to do.

A stream of energy hits his left foot before it can make contact with the ground and turns the maneuver into another tumble.

Four.

You pounce at the mon, ready to end things once and for all, but pull short as he rolls to his knees and screams:

"Tsurara Lala!"

Between blinks the tiny champion transforms, growing into a colossal icicle aimed to skewer your chest. There's not enough time to lower your war-gauntlets... which is fine. You have another way to deal with this trickery.

"Sharp Fangs!"
The gleaming tip of deadly ice shatters beneath your glowing teeth. Impalement avoided, you rear up and bring both paws back.

"Hammer Blows!"
Ponderous blow after blow crash into the small mountain of frozen water, each shattering a meter of ice from the living construct. All until finally, all that remains is the broken base.

Five.

Your joints and muscles flare up in protest again, but this time you're in better health and manage to avoid falling over. What remains of Chackmon's attack reverts back into the digmon's orignal form, only this time his body is an utter wreck. The Legendary Warrior is battered and broken to the point of barely clinging to life, more a barely connected mass of vaguely connected snow than anything else. His stump and the wound on his chest pulsate contiunuing to eat away at what's left.

His black eyes no longer hold that fiery determination, but fear. Water drips down his cheeks, tears.

"Please... no."

Your forepaw freezes in place, hovering over the begging digimon.

"Heh, 'thine life hast come to an end." Sparks cackles, lowering his staff towards the champions exposed core.

You:

=== Choose One:

[] Allows Sparks to finish Chackmon off. You... can't do this.

[] Step aside, making Sparks's attack miss.

[] Have mercy, he's in pain and won't last much longer. End him yourself.

===Authors Note: Loading Chimeramon made this fight a lot easier. Verge's increase fortitude meant that Chackmon's normal melee didn't mean much and allowed Verge to actually match his speed when using Hasten Burst. Which jelled really well with Sparks harassment through applications of Magic game. Hehe. As a side note for anyone wondering how Sparks manages to keep up in speed, guess who else knows Hasten Burst?

-[X] No Sparks. Remember Fugamon... and Dinohumon that came after.
-[X] We'll take him prisoner, as the leader of this Polar Defense Force he must know something...

Sparing everyone that begs for mercy is gonna cause problems, specially if it gets out that we had a LW dead to rights and let him go because he cried a bit. This is war guys and they threw the first punch anyways and killed a lot of Host, heck Unimon remember?

And he's a highly placed enough individual that we can take him captive without MagnaAngemon doing what he did last time. Chakmon is also small enough to be contained, as opposed to Parrotmon.

Maybe add a subvote to try and take him captive? he could be worth more alive then dead.

Wouldn't that run into the problem MagnaAngemon talked about?

Like faking surrender until there's a opening then running away guns blazing, I don't know how strong Verge is but I think he is pretty high up for the area, people around, we can't assume the host has someone strong enough to immediately stomp Chakmon down if he tries anything

Given how he's been acting, I think that Chakmon is actually hella young. Like, probably younger than Sparks. He's just powerful due to his evolution line and probably due to training and having access to better training aids than Flamon did.

I don't think he's gonna be doing in his condition atm and Verge can just sit on him if it becomes a necessity.

His gun is trashed, and we have completely decimated him in melee. I sincerely doubt it's faked terror.

And given that this was a major strike to disrupt the vortex wall plans, it's possible that our forces will be recalled or pulled back to someplace secure. Which means that we can potentially just sit on him until we get back to our main base via Locomon.

As I'm way too much a softy when it comes to crying children and honestly I want to know why he thinks the Host is the faction that will doom the world. Since it really feels there is a bad case of not talking going around that is really causing most of the issues we seem to be coming up against for most of this quest.

Something that I find really saddening considering the Host should be one of the leaders in that kind of thing instead of always going right into the killing because it is easier. Plus this could be a good lesson for Pit to learn the often forgotten lessons of the Host of old.
