23rd-24th Of Water: Arriving & The Scanning Room
You're in the midst of of a post-wake up meditation when the Locomon begins to decelerate. Fortunately, the braking is a slow process (unlike the last time you were on a halting Locomon) and instead of being thrown about, you're merely shifted about across the floor.

Twenty-three seconds later, the right face of your compartment begins emitting a whirring sound as the wall starts to lower into a ramp. Eye-searing light pours through the rapidly widening crack, forcing you to flinch away. After your gaze has readjusted to the bright morning light, you're met with the sight of five-holy digimon waiting outside. A number that quickly grows by a factor of seven as you plod down the ramp.

Most of them seem to be low-ranking soldiers, but you spot several rookies here and there along with one of those armored HolyAngemon. For the most part they're all unloading cargo from the compartments in front of your own, but others like the sole Pegasusmon seems to be on guard for something. It's hard to tell since your perspective as Gryzmon is so much larger, but you think this one is smaller than the mon you met in Hub City.

You don't seem to actually be inside *Alt City* proper, rather the Locomon has stopped at a station right outside the City-state's walls. Meaning everyone will be heading inside the old fashioned way. The platform you're on is perfectly maintained, free of debris and all but a smidgen of dirt. Formed entirely of thick white tiles that stretch around the Locomon track.

Stepping carefully so as not to trample anymon, you begin moving towards the front cars where your squad should be disembarking shorty. On the way, you manage to catch several whispers from the surrounding mon.

"Is he the one who beat Wolfmon?"

"It must be, look at the size of him. And that Scar."

"Lord In Heaven, what kind of food did they feed him in the northern frontier?"

Hearing that sort of small talk is... nice. It means your oath to Agnimon is being fulfilled, if only minorly at the moment. Though you're not the only mon in the party to get gossiped about.

"Oh there's the Stingmon. Scary. I heard he made Blitzmon to run away."

"Tch, the assassin probably ambushed him. You know how Stingmon are."

"Shhh, don't let him hear you!"

Beat an assassin? Why would they call him that? His path is of a warrior, not one of those-ah they're over there!

You hurriedly pick up the pace to meet up with the descending forms of Pit, Sparks and Beat. They leave ahead of the other reinforcements and split up. Unsurprisingly, the short Pidmon instantly launches into a cheerful greeting geared towards the new faces. Beat, steps beside his ramp and crosses his arms silently while Sparks makes straight for you. And after a second's movement is deposited safely on your shoulder.

Then La-Ardat's demonic form exits, and the gathered soldiers freeze. The sudden fear etched onto their faces is nearly tangible, though the sole Ultimate among them seems non-plussed. She looks almost surprised at their reaction for a moment, but suddenly switches to cruel amusement. Her smirk nearly sends a shiver down your spine. The armored angel frowns in her direction, his right arm twitching, but thankfully doesn't attack.

Naturally, the crowd's reaction fades away as Throne HolyAngemon exits behind her and barks an order:

"Get back to work! The Lord does not tolerate idle hands and neither do I!" That seems enough to snap them out of it and a moment later, the party is able to assemble unmolested. "Sergeant Pit, Bellators Gryzmon and Stingmon, Initiates Wizardmon and LadyDevimon. Follow. We move to enter Alt City."

"Yes sir!" Pit replies snapping off a salute. "Come fellow warriors! Let us finally enter the most holy city on this world!"

"Hn."

"Tch, holy? 'tis nothing special."

... I disagree.

Looking upon the Blessed Host's home is a breathtaking event now that you're not worried about meeting up with the others. Truly taking in the large marble wall reveals a sort of... thrumming power. One that makes part of your mind recoil and another smaller portion sing in happiness.

For one reason or another the gold-embroidered stone is not nearly as tall as the veritable mountain surrounding Hub City, but... somehow it feels even stronger. As if something has reinforced the material to be far tougher than the base material. Without testing the wall yourself it's impossible to tell exactly what's going on, but you trust the feeling in your core.

Throne HolyAngemon brusquely floats towards a pair of barely visible doors (ones large enough for even you to fit through with ease) and places his left hand flat in the center of the crack. A moment later, the entire thing begins to open.

He didn't say anything! Was that High Programming?... maybe some sort of technology?

However, after fully extending, you're not with a hall directly into the town, but rather a dull metal barrier just several feet inside.

"*Ahem*" The holy Ultimate coughs. "For security reasons, all entering Alt City must be scanned." He explains, pointing his blade towards what you now guess to be the entrance of a massive scanner. "Line up. Bellator Verge is first."

"Uh, sir?' Pit questions with an upraised hand. "Why not just scan us all at once?"

"Heh, 'twould be much faster"

"Because it's my order." your officer half growls before taking a short, annoyed breath. "Sergeant Pit, that is normally the case. But the wide range of species and mutations of certain members may overtax the scanner if entering all at once." Even as he speaks, the metal barrier lifts up, revealing a dark room seemingly made up entirely of the odd panels you'd seen at the gym and Frigimon's orphanage. "I will be entering the control room to gather any results, the speakers up top will announce who's next."

... like Gorimon's scanner. Oh, Spirits please let this one be made of sterner material. Also Speakers?... there aren't any digimon above us. But, some sort of black box? It has a lot of holes is that it?

You nod once and pad forwards, nervously entering the gigantic scanner. At first you're a bit worried that your war-gauntlets might cause damage to the floor components, but surprisingly the material doesn't so much as get scratched.

It must be reinforced with something. Interesting. I wonder how it would hold up against-

"Hold still and relax." An authoritative, female voice announces from the four corners of the room. You whirl about, looking for the source, but it's just more of those odd boxes. "Bellator. Follow my orders. You will hold still."

"I will." You reply after a moment, nearly nodding, but catching yourself at the last moment.

"Good. It will take another twelve seconds for me to calibrate the equipment for your mass and another for me to recite the trigger spell." With that the noise cuts abruptly off.

Trigger spell? This isn't purely mechanical in nature? That is most curious.

Exactly twenty-four seconds later, the room is brought to illumination by dull red light as every panel begins it's work. You can quite literally feel your body being assaulted by the powerful waves of whatever the scanner is emitting, but bear through it.

"I've never seen this kind of size mutation at work." The voice booms out once more. "Your mass is over 200% higher than that of the largest Gryzmon in our databanks. Normally the body can't adapt to all that extra growth, so what is and... HolyAngemon there's!-"

"Ignore it." Your superiors voice cuts in. "The s-data you're looking at there is a side effect of something else Imperius Taomon. Not a security risk."

Ignore it? Ignore what?! What did they find? How would it be a security risk?

"Yes sir! Nothing to be concerned about Bellator-what in Kami's name?"

Kami?... wasn't that what Sorcerymon called Pit's deity?... does this mean there are different sects?

"This can't be right… I'm reading traces of a chrome digizoid alloy in your equipment. How in Kami's name would a champion get his hands on this sort of material…"

"They can't. He's never been to Chrome Plateau."

"It's not an error sir. That's what the scanner is showing.

I see. This Chrome Digizoid must be potent metal. It's presence must be why I was able to stop SkullSatomon and Angewomon's attack… it's also certainly why my claws bear this weight.

"Oh by the Lord there's more! What is wrong with your attribute?! This… it can't be real! My readings must be off! They have to be no digimon could possible be built this way!"

Ah... this.

"It is correct!" You shout, hoping that there's a way for your voice to carry through. "My foundation is constructed from Virus and Vaccine both."

"You can't! Your body should be ripping itself apart not-"

The flustered digimon's voice is cut off as a blaring noise ruptures out from the speakers.

"You… you posses data from beyond the gates!" An actual note of fear enters the digimon voice followed by the sound of something being slammed. "It's an abomination! Delete it! Take it out now!" Which is when the chamber's sides open up to reveal several dozen strange tubes. Similar to to the weapons of a Commandramon or Tankmon, which means they're loaded with projectiles of some sort.

Spirits below what's going on?! The gates? We're all from outside the gates! Why is she trying to kill me! These weapons... are they powerful enough to do so?

"Taomon I order you to stand down now!"

"We can't sir! He-that thing can't be allowed to leave!"

... will she listen?

=== Choose One:

[] Defend Yourself: If *Taomon* decides to give into fear and ignore your superiors orders, then you need to be ready to block... which could be difficult given that the weapons are aimed at you from all sides. Plus, if the Throne does get her to calm down, then you wouldn't be doing anything rash.

[] Make An Exit: You're not going to wait around while the two digimon argue. Attempt to break out the way you came. Perhaps it's time to dive into that feeling that's around your claws, it might be something that could assist your escape.

She's defying orders and in a state of panic. We cannot wait on the off chance that HolyAngemon will be able to calm her down before these weapons fire..

I'm surprised they didn't notice any of the Tree's influence on our data (yet). That seems like an 'instant trust' button.

Verge, that's probably the cursed wound from Repulsa.

That is probably Ardat's influence, Verge.

If they react that poorly to this, just wait until you see how they react to the Scion herself :V

A Mistymon mostly.

That'd be Ardat or Repulsa's work

That'd be Scratch. Mistymon have that I think?
He's still protecting us even now.

...it sounds to me like we had Human data in there. It'd allow us to bridge a lot of the issues with an OCP.

-[X] Frame Reinforce though. Just in case.

Running would only validate her, I think.
She's not about to attack over this, unless we make sudden movements.

For the simple fact that I rather try to avoid breaking the likely very costly uber spell scanner and get slapped by the Throne with the repair bill. Since that would be a easy way to get a quick lever on Verge with the whole oath and honor thing.

Though if mon are already freaking out about us, I kind of wonder how bad things will get when they scan Ardat.

Humans are an unknown in this setting.
Well it certainful would explain the reaction if 'beyond the gate' refers to the digital world as we know it, but it doubt that's the case.

....it's just right now we don't have much in terms of context so we can only guess at the cause of the reaction.

Edit: I actually don't think it's Ardat personally, it looks as if Holyjerkmon was refering to Scion data when he said S-data as Taomon was concerned over that too, and given that these factions seem to have some form of long range communication I suspect he was smart enough to call ahead.

It just a couple dozen guns. Verge has survived worse.

... You know, when I started typing that, it was meant to be a joke. Instead, it just made me kind of sad.

Huh, ya know without context Verge is kind of really unnatural. I mean him being super big for his kind? Mutant nothing to big. Wait does that champion have Chrome gear?! That can't be right. His core is somehow both Virus and Vaccine with destroying each other? I'd imagine that shouldn't actually exsit.

Not counting literally all the other junk we don't fully understand/know.

Choosing this to see how the superior decideds to handle this.

I've seen enough 40k to know that we need to GTFO while they are still distracted

Could someone remind me if Flame reinforcement lites Verge on fire? Because if so Verge suddenly igniting seems like it could trigger Tao.

That is assuming they know of Yggy and they like said entity.
Hah!

Can confirm this is not the case. Verge doesn't have a single shred of human data. In fact, I'll go one step further and say that there currently is no human data in this digital world.
I love how we have to make guesses at just what data is in us that has them so upset.
It is pretty fun to write and build up. Verge is a freaking petri dish of artificial data, to the point of absurdity once could say. Heh. Next update should have a dedicated list about it, that should be fun!
... You know, when I started typing that, it was meant to be a joke. Instead, it just made me kind of sad.
Is is. Verge's line is suffering.

There's Frame reinforce and Flame Weapon Shroud. Two very different spells.

He's really unnatural with context. His body is an incredibly unhealthy mishmash of different things.

And the claws aren't entirely chrome digizoid, just a very diluted alloy of it.

Assuming that Verge will just survive this with no lasting consequences because he's the main character is foolhardy. That kind of thinking is what got Verge mentally corrupted in the first place. This scanner is used for all entrants into the city. Those guns are probably intended to kill ultimates, a beefed up champion like Verge will get shredded. He's not gonna die, but it'll be really messy, possibly put him out of commission for a whole day. So I say break out.

And you guys voting to block really don't need to write in to use Frame Reinforce. Verge isn't dumb, if it would help he'll do it on his own.

Vote is currently leaning towards defense. Heh. Should be fun.
