...hey, DP, mind not posting anything for about a week?
Let's get everyone's creative juices flowing.

*Russian hacking interference intensifies*

This latest HT update will probably be the last or second-last one before PW kicks back in. Enjoy the more regular updates on my end while you can :p

@Goldfish
Last appel to Shadeweaver.

I know Shadowcasting is not great, but it's decent and this is our only chance for a long time to get access to it in something other than Garin's limited and intuitive form. So that potential for casters stays unused.

Mysteries And Paths - Therafim RPG
At least some of these Paths would make a nice addition to Taena's skillset.

DP said she would need a good teacher to get mysteries, and so far she has none.

Either than or books on shadow-weaving. Viserys thinks Zherys might have some, but you would have to ask him IC.
I thought she could learn it by studying Garin?

If that doesn't work this is of course futile, I was hoping to use her as the step between Garin's natural skills and regular Shadowcasting precisly to avoid the need for a teacher from the furthest East.

I meant the sounding even more insane than you usually do bit at the end.

But that too. :)

I know what you meant. I just pretended otherwise ;)

To actually explain my comment though? Strap yourself in for a wild ride:

My creative process is built around simulating the person that I'm writing in my mind. It's been like that for as long as I can remember. It's why I was legit shaking a bit after I wrote the vote where Viserys welcomed his mother back into life. I get into the heads of my characters in a way I'm not sure people who don't use the same creative process could accurately understand. The issue? They get into mine as well. Where it comes to writing Omakes like Hearthfire, or HT, it's not bad. ASWaH Viserys 'belongs' to DP, which means I don't have to actively simulate him fully, I have all the other stuff in the thread and memory to work from. It's like...a mask I can put on or take off.

Practice War, as the first major piece of Original Fiction I've ever written (and also the first major piece of fiction I've ever written) is different. Really different. Practice War's characters...exist, at least in my head, much like the entire world/universe the story takes place in. To put this in slightly less insane terms, I have a Memory Palace full of every part of that entire world. When my questers create votes, I throw their decision into that world, and just let it react. I then write what my mind shows me. The issue with this should be self apparent. If your characters are quasi-real, in terms of being more than reflections or basic simulation, then they can have some level of active will. They can refuse to do certain things - this is why every vote ever written in that quest has been filtered through the mindset of the character 'receiving it'. They can entirely defy what I initially had planned, and bring full scenes I'd never intended to write into being in less time than it's taken to write this post.

But they can also simple choose to refuse to do anything. It's not that I'm locked out, exactly, it's that when I reach out to try and look into the world, I'm met by one of my characters telling me that I'm not allowed to do anything until she gets her snowball fight. Which took place five years ago in her time.
...I'm not helping my case for not being crazy here, am I.

Now, to debunk that idea a bit, what I'm doing is actually not much more than consciously using that part of our brains that we use when we predict another person. It's a skill you practice in psychology, particularly the field of counselling, and whilst being able to just instinctively react is good, there are often times when you need to be able to actively choose which of your options you want to take. So whilst this is maybe a bit of a weird version of the phenomena, it's entirely within the bounds of human complexity and I'm hardly alone in having done it.

I mean, it's the above paragraph, or it's one of the characters I'm writing about beaming what actually happened in a universe running a bit ahead of ours into my head. Which is what one of my questers says is the case, mostly due to how utterly trolltastic my dice are.

tl;dr: @Crake used Snark. @Snowfire counters with (somewhat niche) Psychological Theory.

As @TalonofAnathrax and DP already confirmed, Teana can't gain Shadow Mysteries quite so easily. They're not really the focus I wanted Teana to have, either.

Also, her Shadow Sculptor PRC already allows her to use Solid Shadows, so you would need to rework Shadeweaver to remove the redundancy.

And Shadowcraft Mage perfectly complements her current abilities.

If you want to go deeper into Shadow Mysteries, Garin is going to need a new PRC the next time he levels.
