Threads Of Destiny(Eastern Fantasy, Sequel to Forge of Destiny)

Voted best in category in the Users' Choice awards.
I mean the rebel Weilu side seems to have been murdering spirits and burning down forests out of spite also.

But we did have the question if spirit lives matter earlier in the thread. So eh.

There is quite a difference between killing spirits and mortal, the main one being that most spirits are not sentient. The ones that are sentient are also powerfull enough to pick a side instead of being on the sideline.

I would also point out here that Hide could also have stealth aspects, and that one thing we really want is a replacement for TRF, making a defense opportunity here particularly enticing.

Also, of course, it could very well not be an Art. It could be some other kind of bonus. In which enhancing our focus - i.e. defense - would be what we'd want to do.

Oh-ho. I'd be most interested in seeing what that kind of tale might result in.
If we do turn it into an art, I feel that it would be something like PLR, but much more offensive focused. Expressing the beasts that hunted during the Wyld Hunt and then empowering those beasts with a bloodthirsty desire for vengeance. Probably less illusion, but the enemies have the ability to destroy the summons.

Alternatively, we give the people around us a desire for vengeance and empower their ability to tear and rend their opponents. Possibly a potent offensive buffing art, bathing our allies in the light of the Bloody Moon.

I don't think he actually can evacuate them. They're mortals who are a part of the dream, so I don't figure they can leave the bounds without dissolving into disassociated qi.

I mean, in the abstract only Shen Hu and Ling Qi are real here. But neither Shen Hu nor Ling Qi treats it that way, and Ling Qi has shown she has problems dehumanizing people who are right in front of her.

Evacuating in this context means that Shen Hu will hopefully lead them out of the village so when the King comes he will destroy the empty buildings rather than humans who live there, so even when they all disappear Shen Hu still did his best to help them rather than let them die because 'fream people aren't real'.

When he gives us the LOOK:

"I once told a Yuki-Onna that I wanted a mother like her. She resisted the urge and warned me to take care in the future. We, mortals, cultivators, and spirits alike, are more than our natures. We are our choices."

[X] Accept the blessing of Fang

This thing is angry and has little to no empathy for the ones we will fight.

And that is the critical part. Those we will fight. I don't think he will ruin those who don't move against him. After all, the humans were given the opportunity to live even after having broken their oaths for a long time.

If Shen Hu has two braincells to rub together then he will know that opposing us and this King is suicide. Let's give him the benefit of not assuming he is retarded

Yeah, but did they start that shit before or after the King & Co. went genocidal? One is begging for an asskicking, while the other is a perfectly acceptable reaction.
We do not know. Beside the flow of events that we got from the King that Rebel Weilu pushed the boundaries for unknown reasons, which lead to family strife, which lead to these purges.

This are spirits that they had deals and agreements with. So wouldn't that mean that they are sentient enough?

Stop, I can only get so erect.

But no seriously, we have defensive team buffs with TRF, I'd love an offensive team buff. Something like what you described sounds pretty hardcore.

Seriously though, in the absence of specific information Fang is just a bad vote. There are so many things it could give us that we just don't want. Hide is far less likely to lead to salt and regret there.

I'm pointing out the futility of saving them due to their state of existence, rather than saying they don't matter. You're entirely right that the act of attempting to save them has actual weight and value, particularly for what it says about the character doing it.

(I'm also not surprised to be read like that given how it could be interpreted, which is why I'm explaining.)

Hmm. @Erebeal you make a good argument for Hide. Plus Skinchanger-esque skinshifting sounds cool.

Oh yeah, I fully agree that everyone in the dream will cease to exist when it ends only to be reborn the next time the dream surfaces.

I meant to point out that the best way to save mortals within the confines of the dream is to ask the King to spare Shen Hu. And that chosing this option does hold meaning, even if they will all disappear in less than a day.

If this is the Wyld Hunt, I'm going to assume there's a shapeshifting component to it. I'd rather morph our skin than our teeth.

I could be taking this too literally, but who knows.
very muchI doubt there's permanent shapeshifting just from taking one of these votes.

The two choices share most of the same risks - the bit of extra risk Fang has due to our weapon choice is well worth the chance at a good offensive art.

There's absolutely no confirmation that Hide will involve any sort of skin-changing or stealthing, so I'm not really sure why that weave of conjecture gets a pass while Fang is criticized for being ambiguous.
