Mithral doesn't reduce ASF because it is magical, but because it is much stronger than steel while weighing considerably less. This makes the armor easier to move in, thus not interfering with the Somatic gestures needed to cast a lot of Arcane spells.
Or the 20 times better, magical teleporting demiplane.

The only reason the ship would have to fight a kraken, would be if it was attacked by a kraken, which cant happen to the demiplane. In any other situation, the 5 weeks it would take the ship to ge there would give the kraken enough time to get there, and if we have to get somewhere with a kraken, i would rather taken the regular ship, than risk our only dryad ship.
Depends on the shit in question, but it's usually a cost/benefit decision or that the fallout of this cool shit is bad.
