Umm?
They are both Fort Saves and the Flesh to Stone was cast with Bloodwish so was actually a higher check than Baleful Polymorph, if I recall correctly Flesh to Stone was chosen because it would be easier to deal with the sacrifice.
The latter I might be misremembering but you certainly can't blame Flesh to Stone for failing.
The standard method is to use Celerity in conjunction with Baleful Polymorph. Lower DC or no, using it twice would have had a better shot than a one-shot Flesh to Stone.Baleful Polymorph would have targeted Hero just the same as Flesh to Stone, and targeted his Fortitude as well, but would have had a save DC two points lower. If one didn't work, the other wouldn't have either.
With the way we've ignored sacrifices thus far I've lost faith. I'm not counting on anything anymore except for hopefully getting the Leukodaemon bows and the Archon-bone knife. The Archons can object all they want. Let them make an issue of it after we find the sacrificial altars, or the remains of victims, or the penned up slaves and kidnapped victims waiting to be sacrificed. And I think we can overrule those thread members squeamish about sacrificing the cultists; there are more of us than them.
