In all honesty? Lacey doesn't really need a Device, nor engage in combat for that matter.

Think about it like this: would you rather Taylor spend out of commission three days and whoever know how long recovering, and Perfect Storm to go full IAE again with Taylor inside?

Or would you rather until Tim's vote and build the Devices for Storm to consume and the power station? 'Cause now is the perfect time now that Tim doesn't have any urgent projects to go through.

If you guys really want to get more mages on our side, let me point out that you have four not-really villains who've shown way more enthusiasm to learn magic than Lacey's ever shown.

3 days is the fastest IAE can draw power from Taylor without damaging her Linker Core.

I thought we were going to use her as a healbot/buffadin? Wouldn't she be staying out of the way and out of combat anyway?
Personally I'd rather give her a Pet and leave the option of becoming a mage on the table, her pet there to tempt her regularly.

I'm wanting to make a character close to us in setting more of a presence, not expand a cast that's already experiencing significant problems getting adequate screen time.

Agreed, to be honest. I'm personally not voting for Lacey out of a desire to plunge her into combat or to get a new combat mage. I just want to see her in the story more often, and with how "good" we seem to be at dealing with people, well, getting her to accompany us at least somewhat more often is about the only way we can guarantee that.

Desperate? What desperation? I think we could use a healbot to round out the group, but I'm mostly interested in getting the spell-lift going and she's a character who keeps popping up.
It's more a side bonus that as our 'guardian' it would be remarkably easy to up her presence without weighing anything down and in fact being a bonus as healbot.

For all that we may disagree on other things, I too feel that lacey is a better choice than the Adepts. Lacey is probably the closest thing we have to family outside of Sam and a good person, we need those. The former Adepts are morally questionable at best for various reasons and far less reliable as teammates.

And getting the PRT to ignore us rebranding villains would cost political capital better spent elsewhere. Like stealing Vista

This is the reason why I didn't vote to take Vista.
I thought it was funny, but the downside of antagonizing the Protectorate was too serious.
I still think it would be funny to do so, but I also know that it would cause too many ruffled feathers.

Nah, it's still giving me shit on the tally. I just went through it by line with a block and task in the other window to compare.Lots of other weird stuff too where it counted bolded stuff different from normal. Multiple things that called for the same thing but were worded differently. Big mess.
