[X] Leave a garrison; it is now de facto Stirland, not just de jure.
-[X] Medium Garrison - 6k men, 20 cannon.
The whole point of attacking the town first was to have a fortified place to base out of and retreat to.

[X] Execute him publicly, in the traditional way. Burn him at the stake. (+morale)
We need that morale boost.

[X] Nothing has changed. We have cannon, we have dragon. Castle Drakenhof falls.
While the Sunk Cost Fallacy is a thing. We'll just have to go through all of this again anyway if we retreat now.

The Patriarch is down and the Amethyst Wizards MIA, no one to look over our shoulder, but also a much greater need for us to become sudden countermagic expert!

The butcher's bill is heavy
Understatement. At least we don't need to deal with the Greatswords. Or worry about meddling Patriarchs.

Certainly the sort of thing they should have, even if canon is silent on the subject.

Infantry are only needed for holding ground. I have no wish to hold that castle.

So, based upon numbers and what's said in the update, a significant chunk of our soldiers are walking wounded. They should be given garrison duty along with enough healthy men to keep the town. What's the point of a FOB if you can't hold it?

Because nothing makes the men feel better than getting to burn necromancers. The gold mine is an interesting idea, but it has it's own problems. Just burn the bugger and be done with it.

[X] Nothing has changed. We have cannon, we have dragon. Castle Drakenhof falls.

A lot has changed, the loss of an Elector Count and 4 Battle Wizards hurts. But a dragon rider is no small thing. And we have plenty of cannon. We just have one major issue. We are the last wizard left standing. If we can't counter spell, and do so really well, they are likely to get off multiple Dhar spells on our army.

Especially since I can't see the Castle having only one mage in it. If it was just dwarves and arty, I'd say give up on it. Hopefully the god-damn dragon is enough of a push to even the odds. Especially since we don't want to take the Castle. Just burn it to the ground.

We'll have 50 empire, 40 dawi cannon to break it, as well as 20 grudge throwers, as well as the aforementioned Dragon. I just hope the castle even can be breached by cannon, or we are going to have a bad time.

- The Barazul are my own invention and owe nothing to existing dwarf lore, except that it strikes me as the sort of thing Thorgrim might try to implement to try to slow the decline of the dwarves. I also want to point out that 'Barazul' translates as both 'Understanding of Oaths' and 'Gateway to Steadfast Dwarves', because I'm pretty proud of that double meaning.
That sequence was really sweet. It made for an excellent scene, displayed what the dwarves are thinking and what they think of Mathilde in particular very well, and I could definitely buy it as part of the setting.

On a side-note, anyone more well-versed in Warhammer lore have an idea what the Patriarch was looking for? Because it doesn't seem to be the Liber Necris.

Also, given that all the other rolls were for what people could salvage(and the fact that he left a body), I don't think a miscast happened here, but rather that he found what he was looking for and it disagreed with him violently.

Apparently, "Hoping your problems go away" translated into "they get offed by Sylvania" this turn.

Be better just burn the bastard on the stake, those morale penalties were seriously dangerous, we had a ton of close calls this turn.

I'm not happy about it, but morale is only going to get worse from here. Give the troops a visible victory, and hope that keeps the negative morale from hurting too badly. Whatever intel we could gather from him, we don't have a Spymaster to pass the job off onto. We're the leader right now, and that's more important. As for moving on Castle Drakenhof, if we don't go for it now, it probably won't be attacked like this again for centuries.

Shouldn't we have all the cannon with us for bombarding the castle? instead, we should have the anti-unit artillery, the organ gun, in the garrison.

@BoneyM , roughly how far is it to Castle Drakenhof? Would we be besieging it later this same day, or the next day, or what? The maps posted in thread have five-mile-wide icons so there's quite the margin of error in trying to judge that on sight.

The Necro was pretty incompetent, I don't think a public execution is that big a risk compared to a quick stabbing while down.

Yeah, trading the possibility of info for morale seems like a good idea, especially if we move onto the Castle.

Hopefully Kasmir survives the campaign, too many have died already and he's definitely grown on me as a character since his first introduction (plus I don't necessarily blame him for Sigmar's apparent inattentiveness).

Welp, that's one way to activate a death flag.

In the end, the only ones still standing will be Asarnil, Death Fang, Mathilde and a bunch of dwarves.
