Perhaps we should include an addendum. If hes being serious.

Maybe add administrative work to his training.

Viserys: "If you wanted to help me with paperwork you could have just asked"

Maelor: "Instant Regret"

@Azel, @Crake makes a good point, maybe ask if he'd like to observe as we do stuff, intern style, and rather than "keep him in mind" offer him second refusal on a place ('cuz Uthero), and if it seems nitpicky, well, that's just proof that we're taking it seriously.

Not like he won't have more time to do stuff now we have the identification ritual.

"Should of taken his clothes first," Vee's words draw you from your thoughts with a start.

We've been a good influence on our friends.

Maelor snorts. "No thank ye. Hard enough to fix a leaking roof, never mind a whole city worth of them. I'd sort of like one that was in better shape," he glances at you. "This conquering business ends with a lot of lords losing their heads right? If any of them should happen to own a nice spot by the sea with enough people to be getting on with..."

We've been a really good influence on our friends.

Yes, now that we can directly identify items, he can seriously spend more time being an understudy. An official apprentice!

"First, we must..."

Maelor: *sigh* "Acquire bear derriere?"

"You learn well..."

I would greatly prefer to go all-in on the day of blood then splitting sacrifices off.
Simple solution.

@DragonParadox, can you make some clarifications on sacrifice?

So, if we're hoping for something to enhance Viserys' magic, would we get the better reward by putting every single sacrifice we have into the Lys Heart Tree sacrifice and trying to multi-task by growing the Heart Tree, binding the Landwarden, and getting something for Viserys, or would we be better off growing the Lys Heart Tree and binding the Landwarden without multi-tasking while feeding the clerics to Yss and asking for a boon to enhance Viserys' magic somehow?
Wouldn't it be more sensible to try and let Dany talk them into abandoning Tiamat?
She should at least try.
The surest way to deny Tiamat their souls is by getting them to do it themselves.

And she could restart her collection of Unholy Symbols from priests who abandoned Tiamat, after she had to use up her own for her current symbol.
She really wanted to nail that on a plaque.
Both of them nearly set off apocalypses as a final "fuck you" heedless of collateral damage. Dany can try if she wants, but they will both die for what they did.

"How are your valyrian classes progressing Maelor?"
"Why do you ask?"
"Well, i find myself in need of 20 units of culus ursinum, let me know once you acquire them."

Though I suppose the next logical thing would be to be sure that this is what he wants. We don't want him following in our footsteps if he believes that is simply what he thinks he should be doing.

Also I am sure the landed nobles among us are losing their shit at the moment. We think very little of handing land and title to commoners.

On the other hand I hope they find it flattering we think they deserve what they have.

Taking @das_slash more in depth vote.

[X] "As my first and so far only apprentice, people will expect great things of you, i have little doubt that in a few years you will have the power to claim a city for your own, but yes, i intend to give everyone of us the lives we want, to the best of my power"

-[X] "however i have little doubt that one day you will make a fine lord, i am proud to see you come so far, and will gladly trust you to care after any city or keep you desire, and should we not find any to your liking, well, what is magic for if not to shape the world to what we think It should be?"
[X] Offer to teach him what you know of ruling and administration, by having him apprentice under you as you fulfill your duties to the kingdom.

Speaking of magical agriculture, we seriously need to start training as many druids as possible. The goal will be to have a slow-growing weirwood and a druid per farming community. Even a level 5 Druid would have access to Create Water, Expeditious Excavation(Druid 1), Defoliate, Soften Earth and Stone(Druid 3), Plant Growth, Speak with Plants, Daylight (Druid 5).

Old Gods: Literally feeding our magical Empire as we feed them.

I'm glad I managed to get Reva and Liset into tutoring from Bloodraven. That's going to be fun for us. :)
Man. I just realized something, @Azel.

Are we going to slowly edge Maelor into Lawful Neutral alignment?
It's bound to happen eventually. He's Viserys' apprentice and he just expressed a desire to rule. He's going to take after him in more ways than one.

It just fucking amuses me so much though. Maelor will know more about the law and applying it due to his experience in breaking or bending it. :lol:rofl:

Ok, this is a bit of random trivia, but the thing with maelor and the asses reminds me of a (drunken) conversation i had with a few friends over our dissertations:
Basically, while doing research for his own thesis, a friend found a paper full of graphs that resembled crude drawings of penises.
So It became a bit of a running joke that our examiners would comment on our thesis with "yes, this is a very good work and It shows that you have a Deep understanding of the subject, but what i dont Understand is: did you really have to include so many penises in It"?
So i can see people working for maelor un the future going
"Yes my Lord, i can see why this is so vital to the realm and your Wisdom never ceases to amaze me, but why so many bear asses?"

Just the ramblings of a sleep deprived mind, move along.

  1. It could work, though given that you are pouring that magic into a tree and the nature of the gods any truly extraordinary power would likely be geographically limited, say by proximity to a heart tree.
  2. Yss on the other hand would be more likely to just cast a blessing on Viserys, however you should remember both Vee and Azema, Yss' blesings tend to change people in ways either seen or unseen.

Pretty much exactly the same with Viserys. It'll make it easier for him to deal with other people who try to bend or break the law and snuff out the ones who do it a bit too distastefully. I fully expect him to have an ironclad grip over the criminal underworld if/when he gets his own city.

... Okay, honestly both of those sound unappealing. I'm glad I asked ahead of time.

@DragonParadox, for gifts that don't directly affect Viserys, which one would be more potent? Piling all sacrifices on the Heart Tree and multi-tasking or feeding the clerics to Yss? And how much faster will we get clerics from Yss if he's fed Tiamat's clerics?

Go and reread the first few updates of Vyserys being a Lord and setting up policy and administration. He was repeatedly noted to have a rather unique approach to the law due to his time as a criminal in Braavos.

  1. Too many unknowns to guess for the first question, though piling sacrifices for the Lys tree is quite likely to massively empower it.
  2. He already has adepts, getting clerics is justa matter of finding someone with sufficient affinity and skill and swear him/herself to Yss' service

So Yss could turn Arcane spellcasting levels into Divine spellcasting levels, much like Tiamat with Dany? He has been growing fat enough to invest himself in someone. Right?
