@TotallyNotEvil

We just really don't need a sword.
We have our Rod and Staff and we can decide to either cast two spells per round, more with Celerity, or full-attack as huge dragonman.

Either of those two options is always better than Spell Battle.
Except you are wrong:
1) There are multiple items for quickly drawing other items.
2) The Staff has its best uses out of battle.
3) Wand chambers. And free actions.
4) Full attack includes normal weapon and natural weapon.

Counterpoint: It has one spell that is situationally useful, the tree stride will be used with preparation.
Counterpoint 2: Ring of Arming/Gloves of the Master Strategy.

Don't forget the ??? Quality. And that Eldritch Scion gives natural attacks and spell combat.

So you are saying that we should leverage everything on the idea that you are absolutely correct on what the ??? will be.

No.

The sword is useless to us. I will vote for Dany to unsheathe it before I accept a Visery vote passing. And I hate the idea of giving this to Dany.

Also what about when we start turning into a Dragon during battles. It's barely usable right now. In another level, it'll be utter trash.

The options here are:
A) Viserys: Give him a top tier class feature that perfectly meshes with his strengths.
B) Give a boring, standard sword to Dany who will more or less never, ever use it, as she has much better thing to do.
C) Give Rhaella an artifact to use as vanity item.

C) Give Rhaella an artifact to use as vanity item.
This is why I despise the vote to give it to Rhaella.

She is not even a PC yet.

You guys are acting like we're going to treat her like any old adventurer instead of the King's mother and send her out to battle monsters all the time.

Giving her Dark Sister is pretty much tossing it in a hole where maybe it might slaughter some minor monsters from time to time.

[X] Daenerys: The Monsterslayer: Greater Bane Dragons (+2 enchantment bonus +4d6 damage) ???

Might consolidate to Rhaella, but I'll go with this for now. I dislike it for Viserys.

As for why I like it thematically for Dany, it's giving her a role. The Monsterslayer. Tiamat just happens to be the biggest monster for her right now, but it doesn't mean she'd defined by Tiamat. There are other monsters, and it's where we'd prefer to channel her CG tendencies, isn't it? Killing the monsters?

Except we will have full BAB.

What do you suggest? Vanity item for Rhaella or ceremonial item for Dany?

The sword will mold itself to the user. And magus using natural attacks are already a thing.

1+3. Great, more crafting for something we'll use for less than one level.

4. No, Spell combat says attacks with the one-handed weapon used for it.

We are a Dragon in one level.
We propably can't change the choice we make now easily, so it will become obsolete when Viserys uses it.

The options here are:
A) Viserys: Give him a middling-to-good class feature that is entirely wasted given his class strengths.
B) Give a boring, standard sword to Dany who may never, ever use it, as she has much better thing to do, but has the capability to refocus to melee combat and swiftly become almost as good as Richard due to Clerics being hilariously OP :V
C) Give Rhaella an artifact to use as protective item in the event she's targeted, and a reason to grow in power herself.

Your options. I have fixed them.

@Artemis1992 I think these are more fair, I tried to keep bias out of my description of Dany's option. Probably failed, but y'know. Thought that counts.

Give Rhaella an artifact to use as vanity item.

The others are a matter of perspective, but this needs some clarification. Learning how to use a sword would probably be the hardest thing for Rahella so mechanically the sword fills a significant gap in her abilities above and beyond any metaphysical implications.

Does a tail count as a 'hand'?

A dragon's tail is not prehensile.

We will soon be a dragon and after that swords are not particularly useful to us. So it synergises well for one level only...

Look, @DragonParadox can we just not have to deal with the ??? stuck on each of the options? All it's going to do is let people push their ideal of what they think it should give and foster more salt after the fact. We paid a bundle for the identification ritual, can't we just have it work?

Hey just saying. Nobody ever said a Dragon couldn't learn to walk on two feet. And if not hey claws work as well as hands for gripping. Just saying if we cant pull an Igneel we can just fly around with the thing gripped in a claw. I thought that was the plan for the Staff anyway.

I mean what's the point of having Weapons Proficiency be something trainable regardless of Class if you don't have Dragons dueling each other with Giant Swords or Kung Fu fighting with Staffs?

I agree with you.
Just see her a bit less as "Rhaella Targaryen" and more as "useless NPC with the potential to become something more, but might also stay in politics, in which case we'd have thrown an artifact out of the window."

She can earn a Targ sword when she has claimed the right to the name by Fire, not Blood alone.

Because our natural attacks as a dragon will be vastly stronger than bashing at something with a sword. It's that simple.

Narratively that's a no-can-do.

The identification ritual can only identify what's already there. Dark Sister is full of unshaped potential depending on who draws her first. Identification can't guess all the possibilities.

That is there to represent the fact that the information is incomplete and Viserys knows it is incomplete from experience with Oathkeeper. Not showing that would run into not making him overly forgetful which people were rightfully upset with in the past.
