Honestly @Duesal, I'm hesitant to bring it to them. It's Valyrian Steel, forged of blood magic, possibly counting against legal code restricting objects involving fiendish origins.

Because it might have been tempered in the blood of fiends.

And even if not, still blood magic, still spooky as hell.
We were warned against selling cursed or fiendish items. And even then, we were told it was allowed if we took them to a curse-breaker first. It'd be counter-intuitive if we're not even allowed to bring cursed items to be examined by people whose jobs it is to handle items like that.

And more than that, we're in the clear since we had nothing to do with the making of the Dark Sun Dagger or the Cornugon's Spiked Chain. With the Spiked Chain we can give the weapon to Valaena after putting half the thread's concerns to rest. With the Dark Sun Dagger we might finally get some hint on how to go about reforging it. This isn't simple Valyrian Steel, it's a dormant artifact. Any hints we can get for that future reforging ritual are more than worth bringing it up.

Isn't that restriction only for selling stuff?

Otherwise we have to leave behind Sir Richard, because his armor has fiendish origins.

Plus, Oathkeeper and the armor are both Valyrian Steel made from blood magic, so they likely would have let us know if we could not bring it in. :V

And none of which won't recognize a threat like your doomsaying is implying.

Because I can't take you seriously if you say that nothing good can possibly come out of this.
I'm not doomsaying. I'm saying the Gods, and the world's defenses in general, are undermanned and rightfully distracted by the sudden, simultaneous return of several unrelated threats. And given how long it takes for a Divine Champion or Wizard to reach the peak of their power, we can expect that to be the case for years into the future.

And our pantheons are a fair bit bare, you must admit. Certainly we don't hear much about Gods making their moves compared to what you might expect so I can only surmise a lot of the Gods of the setting are lethargic.

Yeah, agreed on that point. I don't think we're going to have any trouble with Valyrian Steel.

It's a good thing we've already secured our age's Elminster or Blackstaff.

Though technically speaking, since there were two Arch Mages...

Shit.

2 problems with that, 1 it's not the amount of CotF that's the problem, it's the lack of diversity in their blood, so making more children from the same genetic stock don't help much, 2 we don't currently have access to artificial wombs, but we do have access to a market where we can buy scrolls of Polymorph any Object.

It's not enough to be able to mass produce the various species, to make a self sustaining specie, we need to make sure they have the requisite amount of genetic diversity for longterm survival.

The Flesh forge could help making each bloodline have redundancies, so their genetic pool don't grow shallower with each death, but it can't by itself deepen the genetic pool, clones don't deepen the genetic pools, if you make a million clones from only 50 different samples, that specie is still going to have major inbreeding problems.

My plan is about creating new CotF bloodlines utterly unrelated to the current ones, if using artificial wombs turn out to be cheaper we can do that to make the specie regrow faster, but they need some genetic diversity added in as well.

If this is necessary you should remember that it's Polymorph Any Object, no need to mess about with the mother's emotions etc.

Just turn a Dugong or something into a CotF, probably make that the female as it's probably easier to artificially inseminate that then to convince someone to be intimate with an animal.

The tally grows!

Don't you now wish Viserys had just attacked and killed him the moment he so blithely revealed he was a serial kidnapper, butcher and murderer? :V

Not that I think some other magician wouldn't have cropped up somewhere or other to contrive a rival for us or anything.

I regret giving him a drop of our blood in the first place. Though I wasn't here for that... otherwise I would have fear mongered like I have never fear mongered before.

Not sure if I understand your vote @Crake

To summarize, you have Viserys wax on about being a ruler and not in a perfect world, and then end with asking for relations between him and the Djinn?

I didn't see any mention about keeping our home plane secret, nor does it really sound like this is the kind of conversation we should have with Embera.

She is the flighty princess, so we should really save our long speeches for her father and the other nobility, the people we will actually be trading with.

I regret giving him a drop of our blood in the first place. Though I wasn't here for that... otherwise I would have fear mongered like I have never fear mongered before.
The best part about all that is that we never even used the weirwood that he gave us as our price. That thing is sitting in our backyard in Braavos, growing at the rate of a perfectly normal tree.

We had to wait weeks for Oberyn to get us another sapling.

EDIT: I'm actually curious about that. Why was there a time limit on the sapling anyway? I'm gonna go back and see if I can find anything.

Hm. Point, she isn't really the best person to talk to, especially in terms of convincing of patience towards the grinding gears of diplomacy which usually take hours to conclude, nor even intrigue, which requires misdirection.

[X] Plan Crake, This Time Less is More
-[X] During our approach of the Opaline Vault, tentatively broach Embra's interest in visiting our home.
-[X] Explain that it may be best to wait until we have initiated formal talks between that of our realm and the realm of the Djinn before making a visit.
-[X] If she tries to point out that she could get us in contact with her father, and through him Sultan Zafer, point out that we have been putting out fires for what has essentially been years. That we could take the time to undertake this trade mission had taken what was essentially considerable planning. Yes, this fudges the truth a little, but we are trying to convince her that A) she will be able to see our home plane, within an agreeable timeframe. B) She will be responsible for putting us into contact with those who could use this information best. And C) Because of B, it would likely greatly impress her father and the Sultan that she be responsible for opening up relations with a friendly foreign power.
-[X] For any definites on timeframe, claim we are embroiled in a conflict which first must be resolved before engaging in diplomacy with the courts of the Djinn and Shaitan. It's true, after all. We're caught up in dozens of conflicts.

When we collect the Three Daughters and build a Legion capable of holding our acquisitions and forming the steel core of our opposition to the Baratheon-Lannister dynasty, as well as their allied Houses.

We also have to begin our diplomatic tour of the Seven Kingdoms, diplomancing House after House to raise their banner in our name when the time comes.

This could be the work of years.

How long till the invasion of westeros again?
No idea on time length, but we've got an order-of-conquest established.

1. Tyrosh
2. Lys
3. Myr
4. Pentos
5. Other Free Cities
6. Volantis

Westeros could be fit in any time after point 4 without upsetting our plans too much, but it'd be more convenient if we could push it back to six. Either way, the Old Gods gave us a prophecy that the perfect time to strike is when Robert's death sparks a civil war. That's the big signal we're all waiting for. Cersei just needs to do her job as the resident madwoman and assassinate her husband soon.

So we are creating a new valyria empire?

And regardless, we still need to take time to convince as many Houses as possible towards either neutrality, or towards our House before the civil war sparks off. It'll be less bloody that way. We need those numbers for the Long Night.

Edit:

We're not recreating Valyria. The past is past.

A bunch of us were partial towards the name "Crown Imperium", if that's what you're asking.

Someone said something very insightful: Genies operate on different timescales than mortals. Can't we just say something like: "sure! I'll arrange something soonish, lots of problems right now. Say, 5 years from now?"

We'll host a nice feast for her in our flying doomfortress orbiting the northern hemisphere.

[X] Crake

We really need to start conquering places... the world will really end without our benevolent dictatorship.

She's giving all she's got captain! We're moving as fast as we can!

How long till the invasion of westeros again?

Unknown. Bloodraven advised us to wait until Robert dies, so until then we're just trying to gather strength for the invasion.

Westeros is firmly between 4 and 5, unless something terrible happens like Robert dying early, or Robert not dying...

So we are creating a new valyria empire?
Kind of. Less a "new Valyria" and more "the entire world will be ours". ;)
Westeros is firmly between 4 and 5, unless something terrible happens like Robert dying early, or Robert not dying...
Yeah, that was my thought on the matter as well. Right after number 4 is the most convenient time for Robert to die.

Although I'm still concerned about this "darkest hour" we need to save the Starks from. I hope they don't do anything stupid enough that we can't save them.

Considering the de jure lands in that mod include all of western Essos except for Braavos? How very apt. :D
