So we have apparently declared war on the Sultan of Brass... all the worry about sparking more enemies seems amusingly ironic right about now.

The day we forge those mindblank items...

@thread the iron giant's corpses serve as crafting ingredients right?

The monster meanwhile turns to meet your icy glare not with the mindless rage you had been expecting, but instead a strange cunning. "Who are you fools who would dare stand between the Great Sultan of Brass and Lord of Fire and his prize?" it roars.
Well shit. We would have planned this out a lot more differently had we known that. So much for not poking Molten Skies too badly. And our upcoming Molten Skies trip just got a hell of a lot more dangerous.

We haven't even managed to go to the City of Brass, yet.

@DragonParadox, how many Iron Giant corpses are there and how many are we responsible for killing?

Fellow travelers, those who prefer trade to banditry.

Just cleared Rotstone - well, two of it's servitors and the curropted earth. The main thingy* fled.

*Technical term.

If going to Xorn, and they can travel fast, then go with, or if we're not far, then go at their speed (max 1/2 day)

If they are not going to Xorn... Do they have something to trade? :D

On the other hand you did so by aiding a polity which is apparently strong enough to be at war with the City of Brass as equals.

Shifting our crafting buyout from the Bazar of beggars to Earth Djinn Central is sounding good right about now. Sure (apparently) its not as grandly stocked as the PoMS, but we also need pretty mundane stuff anyway (for planar standards).

Yeah, this seems like a much better idea now. :(

So, ask them for access to their markets and along with a reward for saving them?

While the Opaline Vault may not be as well stocked as the City of Brass you can bet it is much better so than the Bazaar of Beggars. You would not be shopping in the planar slums anymore.

It just means we've lost an already shitty trading venue for another, less shitty one, who are no less wealthy. Exorbitantly so, in fact.

Though this does call into question, do we bother with MS still? Best case scenario is we let that damn (I say this with respect, honestly) fence fleece us again.

Sure, the Shaitan will want to fleece us too... but we're a pretty strong negotiator, and they have a less shitty disposition overall.

Yes, @Crake. We bother with Molten Skies.

We've made an enemy of the Brazen Throne itself, so now there is absolutely no reason to hold back. One day soon, preferably after our Free Cities are consolidated fully and our baby adventurers are full PCs and our party is either at or approaching the high levels, I want to murder and loot the Bey of Beggars.

Agree with Snowfire. No need to pass the glory around when we did the labor.

Though Echo Caller made a nice save near the end there. He can bask in his own great feats on his own time though.

Welp! So much for fabricating muti ton sheets of obsidian to plate the Wall now. It'll probably be a while till we can do more than low key mining in Molten Skies now.

The thing about shopping in the slums is that stuff there is more within our price range compared to greater markets.

Not so much. Larger stores mean more dross that to us is valuable. It also means a much higher chance of acquiring rarer components and spells - scroll of resurrection comes to mind. Our method of entry in this case should mean things are more amenable, too, and I'll take LN over LE any day of the week.

LE had its perks. For one thing, Molten Skies had the lovely rule of, "You kill it, you keep it."

@DragonParadox, will the Shaitan have the same rule?

[X] "Lord of Flame and Sky, Viserys Targaryen."
-[X] The others introduce themselves as they will.
-[X] "Whom do I address, that I've made a mighty enemy indeed, in defense of?"

I figure, personally, that these guys aren't going to respect personal flattery or "oh we are totally non-threatening bystanders just passing through" as a means of introduction.

We are scary ass motherfuckers.

It also had such lovely downsides as 'currency is literally nightmare fuel' and 'local law enforcement will eat you first and ask questions later'. Like, yes, there were perks. But I think this opportunity is a much better one, not least due to our need for a safer extraplanar market right the frak now. And we have a good to excellent in with them now - depending on what's in the ark.

Yeah, this pretty much means our buying speedrun needs shifting to PoE. Before we had just angered a minor noble, if we've kicked an actual operation of the Sultan of Brass, I don't want to go back to the bazaar.

We can extend the PoE trip by a day if we're not that far from their destination, but I'm not sure if we're that close...

Satellite market in a smaller, closer town?

Eh. The perks were more than worth the downsides. It was a fantastic place to unload all the evil loot we had no interest in using and couldn't sell elsewhere. And we also did a bit of work to cosy up with their black market, so that's going to go to waste as well. :(

Yes, this is a good opportunity, but damn I really wish we hadn't lost Molten Skies so soon. I wanted to do that on our terms.
