Now that DP has confirmed the current legionnaries has had trainimg enough to instruct; How about we set up recruitment offices in all the major cities? @Diomedon @Azel

I know we're going to have to open up recruitment soon enough, but that seems like an invitation for every interested party on two continents to try to infiltrate our forces further than they already have.

I think there's fewer spies than you'd think, if only because the price of hiring someone willing to risk their neck over "eternal damnation and agonizing sorcerous torment at the hands of the EVIL DREAD SORCERER VISERYS TARGARYEN" is cost prohibitive.

Proving there's a few indirect advantages to everyone talking about how horrendous we are. Kind of makes finding those willing to stick their heads right into the metaphorical (and literal) fire much like pulling teeth.

Ehh considering how easy it is to immigrate to SD and conscript that ship would have sailed by now. Theyd need to fill a whole square to do any real damage anyway.

And its not like we dont already have a boatload of spies!

I think you might have confused some people with the double update, @DragonParadox.

They probably saw the first update, noticed it didn't call for a vote, then went on their merry way to wait for the next part, not realizing another part was coming in an hour that was going to need a vote.

;)

I'm thinking about what kind of holdings to set up for Uthero already. It'll probably be in the Disputed Lands (unfortunately named, we'll definitely have to relabel them when we finish our conquest of the area). The only question is where.

I'm thinking, in all likelihood, it'll be on the coast. Maybe near some kind of natural harbor, though there will probably be a settlement right next to any of the good ones. Not a real problem, maybe even a boon.

Something unfortunate to think about, I had toyed with the idea of putting shipbuilding operations within his purview, but that region is more well known for fertile farmland, not lots of forests or much in the way of timber. Though I'm sure there's a way to play that angle even still. The Crown Arsenal will be in SD anyway, and we could probably get him involved in such a project. Also gives him a bit of positioning in our court in one swoop.

As for the castle itself, I'm wondering what architecture he'd be enamored with? A big fancy castle is kind of vague, but I think he'd appreciate a bit of sorcerous flare to it. Part of the reason I wanted to get manuals and books about extra-planar architecture, so that we could lend an air of mysticism and exoticism to our building projects.

Just for a fun project, books or drawings/plans on architecture from Fire, Air, Water and Earth would be neat to sort of amalgam into one, coherent, building.

What about Westhaven?

Hmmm. I've been thinking about looting, and worse, torching cities (and i really have confused for why that happens, but then again, people are confusing, so eh.), so how about this:

"Attention men and women of the Legion, attention hired sellswords! We go today not to destroy this city, not to pillage it, but to Liberate it from the evil it has suffered under since it's creation!

So any fires that end up happening, we will check with magic to see if they were done intentionally and then if so, who did it, [possible addendum: not something that can be done casually, but we'll make special effort]"

Hmm, good opening, but the gist part of the message reads a bit flat. But yeah, in criminal studies, based on my total lack of understanding, it's not the terribleness of the punishment that has that much of an effect, but the likelihood of being caught.

Also, would like to add in "also, the poor have had lives hard enough, I've seen it, you've seen it, no doubt many of you have lived it. If you're going to do a bit of looting on the side, pick your targets: Rich Slavers*

*note, the Myrish archers might not like this, but in the presence of a buffed Viserys in LHD/HHD, no one's going to argue against it.

Just something to keep in mind, although it probably is a bit obvious.

Also, if we have access to Control Weather: "I mean it, if big fires start, we're going to have to make it rain, and our options are either, "don't mess with weather" and "torrential downpour," and fighting in heavy rain is shit. So don't make us do it. (said in a stern, frowny way)

Not Westhaven. The man deserves something better. Why not just build him a castle in the Disputed Lands--notably after like six months or more of the area being pacified and after violence in general has died down.

Maybe near Whisperwell or something. That area seemed nice.

Yeah, but then we released the Deva, it's probably worse than most other places as the people aren't used to dealing with all of the "asshole" energies that come pouring in.

Great axes so long they can serve as polearms in a pinch and hand axes for bearding operations.

So, how much of their fee is skill and how much is armour/weapons, as we intend to be able to go to "holy shit, everyone is in mastercrafted + mundane bonuses full plate (if it suits them).

450 men for 2k might be a bit pricy... eh, we need boots on ground more than cash.

I'm awake!

@Goldfish

Mmmmm, I like the sound of the Wolf's Teeth slightly more then the Myrish Crossbow and friends unit, since we know they padded their group with undisciplined folk. Gimme a minute or two to catch up.

The two go together. You need pretty good skill to fight in armor, especially with two such different styles of combat.

Point. Then again, all the more reason to have a strong fortress right in the middle of the area. Maybe we should let Uthero commission a dozen or so constructs to man the fortress when we get around to building it.

Also, I'm so glad we got the family of Laeris' descendant out of that place. That would not have been pretty had we left them there.
